love the way the date does today, LOL...

Anyways, time for a new week and a new weigh in thread. I've been diligent with my activity and food this week and I'm sad to report there is NOT a weight loss. Again... bummer. Maybe tomorrow? I can only hope. I am running off to work and don't have time for much but put it out as it is:

LW 181.4
TW 181.6
av daily steps 5871 total distance: 17.21 calories burned: 14,019 (or so it thinks... can't be or I'd have lost some weight)

that is soooo not fair. My steps were up, the distance up,calories burned was up. Maybe it's a little added muscle or a little fluid still retained. If it's down tomorrow, I'm doing a do over :glasses:

Light, the scale may not show it immediately, but I recognize the increase in your number of steps, and that eventually will show results. Sometimes our bodies have to adjust.

Today is my weigh-in day, but I haven't done that yet. So I'll be back later with stats.

I just wanted to let everyone know that hard as change is for me, uploading today was my kick in the tush. I walked more than six miles yesterday, but when I uploaded my bugg, it showed 150 steps! I didn't push myself out the door in chilly, breezy weather for two long treks up hills to see 150 steps! So I bit the bullet and ordered the BodyMedia Core this morning. After I account for the three free months of the website, I'm only paying a little over $80, including shipping. Should be worth the investment. But I did so like the V3. :-(

Working at weighing in on Tuesdays....got an extra set of steps in as I forgot until I got downstairs...so there's my silver lining..lol

    SW: 238
    LW: 204.2
    TW: 203.4
    STGW: 199 - by Nov 28
    GW: 140

No change from Friday, but I'll take the change from last Tuesday and be happy. I'm working hard on my intake. I did adjust my MFP and reduced the calories, since there is no way I'm able to get in the activity level I did until post surgery. So for now, I'm getting acclimated to the reduced intake.

No word on my MRI or surgery date. I've got emails out this morning to see if I can urge anyone along. =))

Light - sometimes it does take a bit for the body to react, so please remain on your game plan and keep your eyes on your prize.

Hope everyone's having a great week.

    Hello everyone! Weigh-in today was:

    SW: 158
    LW: 131.8
    TW: 133

Boo! Weight up. It's probaly due to poor choices at a baby shower, and going out for sushi and drinks with friends. Will work harder this week, especially on the intake side of the equation.

Lois, you're smart to adjust your calorie goal. Without the activity, it just takes too darn long to see any results. I hope you don't experience too much hunger with the lower intake. More veggies?

Sarah, glad you ordered your new device! Those little things really help to keep us motivated.

I'm starting to think that my short term goal will be to get down to 129 by the end of the year. Then, I'll tackle the remaining 9 in the New Year. I think that's realistic for me . . . not very ambitious . . . but with all I've got coming up, I think 4 pounds is all I'm going to be able to manage.

I will post tomorrow - weigh in was Monday but didn't go to the gym because of Remembrance Day - they were only open 1-5. I don't have a working scale at home!

Well, I'm doing a do-over because the scale did show a loss this morning. Not a big loss but I'm claiming it nonetheless, LOL.

    SW 198
    LW 181.4
    TW 180.8
    STGW 165.8 by 2-1-14

I've also discovered my scale is not measuring accurately anymore, which is very disappointing to me for as expensive as it was. The top measuring surface seems loose and wobbly and there doesn't seem to be a way of tightening it up anymore so I ordered a new scale last night. Can't log correctly if the measurements aren't correct. Don't think that's my issue but I don't want it to become one, either.

Sarah, good for you for ordering your new bugg. I know you don't like change but this should be a good positive change once you get it since the old one has been failing for so long. You must be anxious to have it in hand :)

Lois, hope they will be able to get your surgery scheduled soon so you will have a date to work around and get the repairs behind you. Hard with the holidays mixed in there at the same time as the decreased burn. Sounds like you are focused though and will do fine.

Hello to Sheesh and iquilt :) Good to see everyone popping in and out. I have to run or I won't make it to work on time... nearly late yesterday since I took time to do some posting/logging in the morning :o LOL... staying focused though and hoping for an even better number next week.

I hate to have to post this, I hate to have to post this. Did I mentioned that I'm not pleased?

I thought I had a pretty good week last week. I added some jogging to the walking and did 6-7 miles on three of the seven days. And yet:

    SW with BodyBugg: 155
Lowest weight since using the BB: 129
    Last week: 141.2
    This week: 144.0
    Goal: To maintain around 130

So I must look at what is going on besides activity and make other modifications. One thing I have resisted, besides buying a new bodymedia device, is adding those 200 balance calories to my intake. When I first started with bodybugg, I didn't do that because I didn't want to tempt myself to be less accurate in logging, but TimDad insisted that you have to look at results, and my results always showed that despite my best efforts, if you do the math, my loss said I missed 100-200 calories a day.

So starting today, I'm adding those darned calories in, keeping the same overall intake goal. I also know that I'm drinking too much Sparkling Ice zero calories soda and not enough water.

So my goal is walk/jog three days and walk four to give my knees and retinas a break. (I had a retinal tear a few years back and have been told to limit "pounding.") I'm going to add in the extra 200 calories first thing every morning, I'm going to drink more water, and I'm going to watch carbs and fat more closely. Oh, and I'm going to try to log more regularly. I think slacking off with checking in works against me too.

(((((Sarah))))) Okay, now you've thought it out, decided what you need to do, next week is going to be better, right? :) Getting the new bugg will help, as will adding the calories back in. I don't do that but I make sure I stop a good 200 calories short of what they want me to have (well, most of the time, anyways, or I'll make sure I exercise enough to be at a deficit) What ever works for you, needs to be your plan.

iquilt, you had a good weight loss and I'm impressed with your steps :) You are an inspiration...

The wind has been wicked all day long (sustained winds 22 mph+) so I didn't get out for a walk at lunch time. I need to start walking the house and then get on the exercise bike. Hope everyone has a good evening :)

Just a quick note to chime in - Sarah - log your food!! remember it's calories in that matter. I say this, because this is where I am lacking in my attention as well. So together we must must must log our food all of the time!!!

iquilt - CONGRATS!!! Reduction AND increased activity - that's FABULOUS!!!

Light - get movin' with your videos GF.

I will weigh in again tomorrow and pray for some movement...I've adjusted my calories, logging more of them and being much more cognizant of what I'm eating. Even with aching killing knees, I did a quick run into Costco last night and picked up a few of their healthier salads and wraps for dinner/lunch for the next couple of days.

MRI is scheduled for Monday!! Surgery in a couple of weeks. Headed to the land of rehab!! WOO HOO!!!

I did train last night, but was in so much pain from the knee and groin I don't know if I really accomplished what I had set out to do. I did lots and lots of planks and arms...I can't wait to walk without pain/discomfort again.

Lois, so sorry you are hurting like that... keep training your arms and upper body and do what you can to avoid stressing that knee. Glad things are lined up, though wish we could move things a little faster for you.

Wow, Lois, I too am so sorry you're dealing with so much pain again. I had a killer day at work and almost no sleep last night. Hubby has bronchitis I think. He coughed all night. He thought it was just an ordinary cold when it started more than a week ago, but he keeps getting worse. He's off to the doctor in the a.m. In the meantime, I had to work until 7, then a friend called who needed a few minutes of my time, and I have a meeting at the church at 8:30, so it's looking like a no exercise day for me. I got in about 5 miles yesterday, and today my knees are really aching. I almost never need pain medicine, but I just gulped down two Advil and thought I'd check in here before I have to leave. I was feeling sorry for myself a bit until I put myself in Lois' place. Rats--you guys ruined my pity party again. I had planned to exercise 7 days this week, instead of 6. Makes me wonder if something out there knows I need at least one day of rest.

When I said I need to log, I meant here on the boards. I am logging my food and my goal is to have intake + BMR + any exercise to still come up at least -250 with that darned 200 calorie balance item. So far, so good. A big pot of homemade vegetable beef soup has helped with lower calorie dinners and it has hit the spot with this cold weather we're having.

Well, must run in order to make my meeting. Take care everyone. And before I forget, great job Iquit!

Made me laugh, Sarah - it's iquiLt, not iquit... cuz I don't QUIT, I QUILT! LOL! (I know, just a typo, but a funny one!)
Light, glad to be an inspiration, really. Never thought of myself that way. I will lead the slow people... LOL!
Knees - I got a bad one too, so I feel all your pain. I forgot to take my Tylenol before gym on Wednesday, which at least proved that taking them before gym really does help! Won't forget again soon, that's for sure.

I was at the doc today and got the good news that I could drop one med, and reduce two others, so that made me very happy. I made an appointment for two weeks from now for a mole biopsy, then later got a call from the doc asking me to come in tomorrow. I am all "What???" because it wasn't urgent, but the receptionist said she thinks the doc may want the resident to either watch or do it, so maybe the resident isn't going to be there in two weeks! So back I go tomorrow - it's over an hour drive one way! Oh well, I have to go back to the pharmacy to pick up the rest of my prescription because they didn't have enough of two of the three meds, so that solved the problem of when I was ever going to go back that way to get them. (I live way out of town - any town that's big enough to have a pharmacy!)

It's an eye to brain thing, Iquilt! I often type the word "health" in my work, and thank goodness spell check underlines, because I often type in heath! Something about that "l" and that "t" together.

Another frustrating morning when I uploaded. Wore my dying V3 all day yesterday, but it gathered data on a portion of the day. At least it was a day when I didn't get a lot activity. I just plain didn't do what I needed to do to get out to the mall to walk before I had an evening commitment.

I'm doing okay with adding the balance item and logging food. I am not doing so good with the extra water. I need to really focus on that, as well as on the little ways to cut calories--like just a little less milk in the coffee, and making sure that I don't get lazy and use the full strength mayo because it's in the front of the fridge and the low-cal stuff has made it to the back of the shelves.

I hope that I can get some extra activity in over the weekend. I am feeling thick through the middle, and gosh I hate that feeling. I'm trying to remember what it was like when I made goal two years ago and didn't feel that anymore.

HAPPY FRIDAY everyone!!!! Since Friday is my weigh day with my trainer, I'm kind of stuck with it for now. I don't mind weighing twice a week...it's actually a little enlightening....

Sadly, no change this week from Mon-Fri, however, yesterday I did make poor food choices. I opted to eat pizza that was brought to our four hour meeting. I stopped at 2...and then as the meeting waned and everyone was going every which direction, I ate the other 1/2 of a slice someone else had cut. Yep....not good. However, the remainder of the week I did stay pretty close to target, so I'm actually ok with a no change.

We have a company picnic tomorrow, so I will be careful of my choices there, especially since I won't be able to partake of volleyball or frisbee (dag nab it). I may wear my brace and try for the frisbee portion. I GOTT MOVE!!! I'm going absolute bonkers!!! We also have to finish cleaning the house and preparing for Thanksgiving dinner and visiting family. Lots to do. =))

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!!!

Congratulations, iquilt, on your loss and 15,000 steps!

Sarah, your plan for your walking/jogging is good. The 200 calorie adjustment to make up for errors is a good idea too, but I don't do it. In fact, I've been neglecting logging food at all. The only thing I'm really consistant on are my steps, stairs, and weight lifting sessions. I have to say, I'm loving my new FitBit Force! Hubby got one also, and we've been a bit competitive with it, LOL! My friends on there always keep me motivated! I'm always trying to catch up with someone.

Lois, I sure hope your pain subsides soon. In the meantime, keep up training every body part that doesn't hurt. I read somewhere that training is "systemic", so your other muscles benefit even if you're not moving them.

Light, keep on stepping with that FitBit, and good luck with your doc.

    Healthy weekend to everyone!

Well, the good news is that I received an e-mail and my new BodyMedia Core should be here on Wednesday, so Thursday, I should be ready to go with a working device. The bad news is that my ailing V3 captured only the part of yesterday, so I got no credit for my long walk last night, and now today--I'm under the weather. I have no patience with not feeling well and keep getting up planning to head to the mall to walk, but just a few minutes moving around, and I realize that I don't have it in me. I have a tickly throat and just a general "not well" feeling. We were supposed to go out to dinner with friends tonight to celebrate a birthday, but I didn't want to expose anyone, if I'm really getting sick. Hubby has been sick with a chest cold for almost two weeks and finally went to the doctor on Friday. I thought I had avoided getting it, and this may not be the same thing, but gosh darn--work has been so busy that I count on weekends for extra activity.

So here's hoping that I'll wake up tomorrow and feeling much better and ready to move my behind.

Well, I haven't been very active today, either, but it's all for a good cause :) I spend a weekend every so often cooking ahead, dividing everything out into portions and freezing them so I have good meals to pull out of the freezer for lunches. Makes things so much easier for me in the long run, esp since I like my "big" meal of the day to be lunch. I've got a crockpot meal I want to throw together tomorrow (should have had it going all day but I didn't find the recipe until supper time) but then I think I am done for this weekend :) Soon, I'll have some wonderful turkey leftovers to cook with and freeze. Yumm. :)
For now, though, I am going to hit the gizelle and get some steps in.

Sarah, so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well today and hope it will pass quickly. Get plenty of rest and fluids ...
Also glad you'll get your new bugg soon. I'm afraid the frustration of dealing with a unit that keeps not recording would cause me to just leave it off and work with the estimated calories you get here or with what your normal calorie burn runs. Hang in there...

hello to all of you :) Hope your day went well...

Well, I made it out to walk last night (in the mall) even though I'm struggling with this cold thing. I don't think I'll make it out tonight though. Yesterday was a weekend day, so I was able to rest and then get out. Today, I worked and that took about all the oomph I have.

Also, when it rains, it pours. I was eating a snack while continuing to work (around 6 p.m. tonight) and I suddenly realized that something didn't feel right when I bit down. I carefully rinsed out my mouth and felt around and discovered that a crown has come loose. So sick or not, I have to call the dentist tomorrow and get this thing re-cemented. It's always something! :-)

At least I have the arrival of my new BodyMedia to look forward to later this week.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

You are going thru a rough patch but *thru* is the operative word. It won't last forever and you'll have it behind you soon, I hope.

Busy busy day at work today and we were short staffed so that meant I sat pretty much all day. I think I was about 1200 steps by the time I came home (and that included the steps to take 2 trashcans up from the curb and then go back for mail. ) I got some biking in, though, and will make up for it tomorrow with my Biggest Loser exercise while the show is on :)

But for now, it's bedtime for me... night all...

Aaargh!! Similar thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago but it was a filling that came out. I thought I had cracked another tooth from the pain I was having! The dentist fixed it, but I still can't chew well there. She said it would take a while for it not to hurt so much, but I am thinking there is more wrong than what she saw because I think it's been long enough. It wasn't my regular dentist so next time I have an "emergency" I am going to make sure it's MY dentist I get to see.

Didn't have a good weekend, food-wise. And the scale told me nasty things at the gym today (up 4...!), but there's no WAY I ate THAT much over my goal, so I am sure it was water weight from too much sodium. I will weigh again on Wednesday, and go with that as my official weigh in for this week! I think I weighed on Wednesday last week anyway too.

I would think that your tooth should be fine after all this time, iquilt... hmmmm. Hope it settles down soon.
And I would think that weight gain is mostly water. I will gain 2-3 lbs in a day and lose it during the night and I can tell I'm losing retained water from my legs. Still is aggravating when you see it sitting on the scale though. I find, interestingly enough that I hold more water if I've been eating bread. Who'd figure that?
  • SarahMaxx
    SarahMaxx Posts: 1,998 Member
Thanks, ladies, for the support. In the scheme of things, a nasty cold and having a crown come off are minor. I'm getting the crown put back on today at lunchtime and I think I feel a little better today compared to yesterday.

I'm bummed out weight-wise, too. I weighed 144 this morning before I took a shower, and since I woke up on Saturday, I haven't been able to taste much, so I haven't eaten much. It's a disappointment to see the scale still stuck in the 142-144 range.

I second Light's comment about your tooth, Iquilt. Don't wait too long before getting it checked. I ignored some dental pain a few months ago, and wish I hadn't. If something hurts more than a few days, find out why.

Light, it's such a good idea to exercise during Biggest Loser. I used to walk on the treadmill during that show, but since we replaced the television stand in the master bedroom with a chest, I can't pull it around to see if from the treadmill in the sitting room. I need to find a new way to combine exercise with sedentary down time.

I also tend to hold water when I eat too many carbs. And I love bread. I could live on bread. I'll take a piece of good bread with butter over a piece of cake any day. Hubby, who loves to cook, has been advocating for a stand mixer with a bread hook, and I've been trying to discourage that. :-)

Hope you all have a good day. Lois and Sheesh, I'm thinking about you, too.

Quick stop by.....forgot to weigh in this morning. Will have to weigh in on Friday. I will be in meetings as soon as I get in tomorrow and then dr. appt and then meetings. As I will be running out the door to be here on time tomorrow, I don't want to set myself up for failure.

I am not expecting positive results this week. I was very good at only taking a bite of sweets...however, there were so many that people kept sharing with me, it actually triggered a migraine for the past two days. Positive side of that - I have NO desire for anything sweet right now. It was horrendously painful.

I will pop back on by Friday and will have the MRI results as well. Yippee.

    Gotta run...ttfn

Congrats to those who are focused and it's showing, for those that are still having challenges - let's get focused. The first big holiday is next week.

Sarah, what are we going to do with you? LOL... figure out how to move that tv so you can exercise or get a small one that you can put in front of the treadmil, hehehe...

I have my exercise bike in front of the tv in my bedroom and the Giselle in the living room where I can watch tv too. Amazing how many times I can add a little unexpected exercise during a good show...

    Total Distance: 12.38
    Total Calories Burned: 15,257

As I thought on Monday, it WAS water retention - whew! Glad I realized that then, I wasn't in too much angst over it. Not sure I am going to make my goal for next week, but I am getting pretty close. Not like there is a prize or anything anyway - LOL! But it does help to have something to shoot for.

My tooth is better. Not perfect, but I guess the dentist knew what she was talking about regarding it taking time, as normal chewing is fine. Really hard things like nuts still require more pressure and thus I do feel a bit of owie, but mostly it's good.

Days like this I wish I too had exercise equipment in my home. It's like -100... well, -15C, not sure what that works out to in F. But I have a good warm winter coat and two new pairs of boots, so I am sure I will survive - ha!

Good to see the loss this week, and great to hear the tooth isn't as bad as it had been. :)

It's a good thing for exercise equipment some days at my house... it gets really really hot and rainy in the summers and I don't like to be out alone in the dark for walks in the winter. I started collecting some of it when the company stopped our gym memberships. Now they've given the memberships back, I find it just easier to stay home. I do need to get back into my dvd "classes" though...
