fyi, I mainly get images either from coming across my facebook newsfeed, or Google keywords "inspiration" "habit" "fitness" "goals" "strong" "keep going" etc. I love positive thinking and inspiration, so doing the threadstarters is a great source of inspiration to keep me going. If anyone else loves inspirational messages regarding health, fitness, goal-reaching, etc, there's an inspiration thread pinned at the top of the group, feel free to contribute (or to the daily threads!). And if you could use a "pick-me-up", that's a good thread to peruse.

Good morning everyone! Well it's morning here anyway...

It's my rest day today, and I'm happy for it. Put in a good week of workouts and I'm ready for a recovery day.

Back at the gym early tomorrow to see my trainer. We did upper body & low back last night. We work shoulders & chest a lot but maybe once a month something solely focused on arms (because other things I do engage the arm muscles too and since we only have 30 minute sessions he'd rather focus on things that work multiple muscles at once). But about a month ago Jason had me try to do a full push-up, and I couldn't do even one, so I told him if he wants me to do push-ups we're going to have to be more aggressive with my arms. He told me he wants me to be able to do 10 push-ups by Christmas, and he started adding in more arm-specific stuff. Last night I knocked out 4 good push-ups, so that's progress. I might just get to 10 by Christmas.

Morning everyone! I didn't get a chance to post yesterday as it ended up being a late workday & I was off to the gym and then played taxi for my teenagers most of the night!

@Laura I would bet on you for those 10 push ups by Christmas! Keep up the good work.
@Timothy & @Sherry I like that bad habit/ good habit thought too. I don't mind at all when friends/coworkers comment on my health habits :) It makes me want to make that effort all the more.

I travel for work today until Saturday so I'm not going to get my workout in. I've been making 5-6 times a week so I think I'll do the hotel fitness center tomorrow morning & then head to the gym on Sunday. That'll make it 5x. I want to stay on track the next couple of days cause I have a session with my trainer on Wednesday next week & last time I had a slight weight gain but did show .5% body fat loss. I am down weight wise this time, want to keep it that way & register more BF% loss!

I'm having some trouble getting enough protein in. I'm not a huge red meat eater either. Anyone have suggestions?

    Have an awesome day everyone!!

I'm having some trouble getting enough protein in. I'm not a huge red meat eater either. Anyone have suggestions?

Chicken breast, tuna, eggs, certain cheeses, yogurt, lentils & other beans, and of course there's protein powder. Lentils are really great and easy to fix.

So, hey everyone! I"m pretty exhausted and not entirely coherent atm. My lil girl is going through a very rough stage right now (it's like three is the "terrible twos" on steroids). Anyway, had to take her out for about 3 hours today and unfortunately carried her most of the time again (even though I said I'd use the stroller, this just isn't a very stroller-friendly city). Covered alot of ground and my back is aching, but at least it's a muscle-building type of soreness and not some kind of spinal thing. So, at least I'm building muscle and also burning calories when I'm carrying her (too bad her tantrums don't convey some sort of fitness benefits too! ) My biceps are also coming along very nicely!

So, no organized workout today. Additionally, DH scheduled an allday appointment tomorrow, so I'll have the kids all day tomorrow (but it was an appt set for next week, so probably better just to get it over with this week).

I feel like I'm being active, burning calories, and even building muscles, but I'm not really working towards one of my greatest goals (which is the theme today), that is to build HABITS of daily exercise (not just ordinary activity, but actual intentional exercise). It's hard with a little one not in school and no childcare options, but I've got to keep up the effort of at least one habit--even though I've been failing at it lately. :frown: You're all great inspirations for me though, so thank you and keep up the good work!!

I'm not sure I introduced myself, but "Hi, everyone!" I've been lurking for a little while and introduced myself to some of you. I really like this group, as everyone seems so motivated. I appreciate the motivational quotes, and just knowing that others are struggling but determined to get their workouts in, helps me try real hard to do mine. Today was so busy that I didn't think I would get a workout it, but sure enough, I got to it. I missed my morning workout but I got to sit in the sun, instead, and I think it was a fair trade. I'm going to try to figure out how to get both a workout and sunshine, somehow.

I'm a work at home mom, and the work I do is emergency foster care service, meaning I'm a fulltime babysitter for social services, taking care of babies and young children. I also have 5 teens and one (almost) adopted 1st grader. And at the moment, two foster babies.

@StacyAnnN, glad to see other people are taxi service for their teens. We've got great bus service here, but in three years, my teens have conveniently never figured out when the bus comes. Go figure.
@FromHereOnOut, it is very hard to get anything done with a 3yo! Good for you for getting out of the house! That's definitely exercise, carrying your baby around town.
@timothydriver, it's such a good thing, what you're doing by running with your co-worker. I was in the army many years ago, and if not for those helpers, I'd have never passed the running tests.
@Laura6887, I just made my goal of 10 pushups recently! You can do it!! I took baby steps, and it took me a year to get to it. You're young and strong and you'll make your goal by Christmas for sure!!

Take care, everyone, and let's meet our goals, one day at a time!!

Welcome chani this is a great group for staying with a program, any one!

I did do short hike yesterday hour and 15 min, it is up up up for half of it, felt like I was headed to the snow topped mountains.

Today we did a good work out in nia class, for the new people I go to a dance class 3 times a week.

For protein, I eat a lot of fish, I buy frozen fillets of Alaska salmon from Costco and many other kinds. And organic ground turkey meat.

For thanksgiving with just the two of us I am making stuffed turkey breasts. I stuff with pecans, spinach, goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, fresh basil. Cover and cook on low. Yum!

I do like red meat periodically, but it's a once-a-week kind of thing. I eat a lot of pork, chicken, turkey (I buy the Jennie-O turkey tenderloins), cheese, Greek yogurt (extra high in protein), and salmon. I'm kind of obsessed with salmon since discovering how much better fresh salmon fillets were than the frozen ones I bought in the past. I use just a little butter, seasoning (I have a garlic pepper blend I like) and fresh dill sprigs and bake it at 450 for about 15 minutes (a little longer if it's a thicker fillet).
