I'm not perfect or at my goal, but I'm feeling so good where I'm at. Exercise was the keystone habit that got me going. I quit thinking about dieting and decided to stop whining about how much I hate exercise and give it a good time. Damn it worked.

    Hello everyone,
I am New to this group as well. Just completed my first week at Curves, and I can honestly say I'm enjoying it. After months of not being able to exercise my Specialist stated this would be a good place to start. Seems like all my life it has been a challenge for me to exercise and eat healthy. I love sweets, especially cookies -my kids call me the "cookie monster" and exercise is not my cup of tea.

Take it one day at a time, one meal at a time.

Welcome to this wonderful group of ladies who will be supportive and friendly, and will help keep you on track, and help you forgive yourself when you don't. This is by far the most successful I've been and I owe it in part to my MFP friends. Use us! :flowerforyou:

Hi - I'm Gail. New to this group, but not to My Fitness Pal. Did Weight Watchers for a while, but couldn't justify the expense anymore. I'm currently playing with 10-20 pounds that I keep losing and re-gaining. I'm sure a lot of you can relate. It's just so hard since I hit 50; sometimes I almost feel like I'm pregnant: cravings, low energy, mood swings! I finally got on an estrogen patch for the hormones/mood swings/low energy. It's helping a bit, but I'm still finding it hard to get motivated to stay on track. Hoping to get some encouragement here, and to give some in return. Thanks!!

Welcome Gail, you are in the right place here. I have played hide and seek with the same 15kg for 20 years - I keep losing it but it just keeps finding me.

Hello, I am Dia, new as well. Just purchased a fitbit and just registered with MFP. With winter coming, I needed some motivation to keep me moving and watching my diet. Things I am doing to get a handle on this over-50 weight creep (weight likes to re-distribute itself in the wrong places I am noticing)--mall walking after work, counting calories with EVERYTHING I eat, consciously drinking a few glasses of water thru the day, fresh vegetables/fruit for snacks instead of tortilla chips and to just KEEP MOVING.

One more thing I'd love to be able to wear certain outfits again without holding my breath in to flatten out my stomach a bit...I have a feeling I am not the only one that tries that trick from time to time.

I look forward to interacting with you over-50 youngsters... we are a tough bunch.

I'm thinking about getting a fitbit. Did you get the wrist one and are you happy with it?

I had the wrist style (flex) but returned it for the Fitbit "one" that clips on instead. It seems to be more accurate and it's very easy to use. I really like it-- Keeps me motivated to keep moving. Just have to be careful to not lose it!
