Hair loss?

I naturally have very thick hair (I usually get it thinned out so it doesnt look bushy while having shorter hair), and I was thinking at first it was that time of year that my hair is shedding away, but even my stylist noticed how considerably thin it was and she thought I got it thinned out by someone else. When I explained I thought it might be that time or year or the pregnancy, she said it can happen and not to freak out as it can take a while to grow back bc of hormonal changes, even after birth, but my sister in law said to check w/ my dr about possible thyroid issues.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Yep, lost hair with all five of my pregnancies. If they were any closer together I'd have been bald, lol! It will all grow back when your hormones get back to normal though. Don't worry about it unless it starts to look patchy as excessive hair loss can indeed be an indicator of other problems. If you are worried mention it at your next appointment and they can re-check or repeat your bloodwork to settle your mind.

I may do that, but hearing that you experienced it as well does put my mind at ease some. Thank you

i've heard of that happening, but i've actually experienced the complete opposite. i have a lot of hair to begin with, and pre-pregnancy it would come out a LOT on a regular basis just from washing or styling. think big gobs in the shower drain, having to sweep the bathroom floor constantly, etc. now, it barely comes out at all. maybe a few hairs in the shower and a couple on the counter after styling. it also seems to be growing faster.

Mine fell out a lot after I had my last one. I've never had it do it during a pregnancy but I have heard of it so you aren't the first. It will grow back thankfully.

Yeah, I checked w/ the Nurse at my Dr's office and she said as long as it wasn't coming out like in clumps or anything, that it's more than likely hormonal. I see all over my head where my hair is growing back now, so my mind has been eased. It was like every time I touched my hair, more than usual would come out and even just sitting in my car or at my desk at work, there is hair everywhere when I don't even mess with it. Freaked me out, haha.
