    Happy Hump Day!!!

Okay, so I went to the gym today and it did not go well. :frown: It was cold today (for Athenians), so the weight area was packed and I don't know how to use any of the other equipment. I couldn't even figure out how to make the stationary cycle work for a warm-up, so I just went outside for a run instead. Yeah. So, I ended up taking a short run and a very long 1 hour walk during which ghosts of diets past haunted me:grumble: , so I'm fighting off those inner demons and just hoping for a fresh start tomorrow. Tonight we are FINALLY putting up the Christmas tree, since its taekwon-do test night & son isn't testing this time. The next three days are going to be very busy for me, but I will definitely get some walking & some carrying done with all the errands I have. Anything in addition that I can squeeze-in will just be gravy.

I hope everyone else is having a good day

Sorry your gym experience wasn't a success. Next time hit somebody up to help you! Otherwise I can say all of the equipment in my gym has a "quick start" button. Some of the equipment (bike, elliptical) you have to start moving and then the display lights up & you can hit quick start. The treadmill you have to hit quick start first then it will light up the display & you can adjust your speed or incline.

I have a walk date scheduled with a friend at lunch, then a trainer session after work. Today would ordinarily be a run day for me too but at the moment I'm feeling inclined to save it until tomorrow. Trainer isn't until 7:00 tonight though so I would have time to run a few miles (on the stupid treadmill) before seeing him. Still stupid cold here.

Sherry don't feel bad I am same way, they can show me a bunch of times how to do machines but I don't go often enough to remember it....just keep asking!!

I just use my gym for classes these days since I have treadmill at home. Usually when it gets slow around here in Jan-Mar I head to the gym for the machines and instruction on how they work again!!

Speaking of treadmill that will be my exercise later, have to finish decorating tree first bunch of stuff on the machine!

Yeah, the quick start button! That's exactly what I thought, but I tried it (nope!); and I tried "manual" thinking I'd just crank up the resistance a notch or two for a nice lil warm up, but the pedals wouldn't budge & made a horrific noise everytime I tried them and it kept saying something to me in Greek or Greeklish I'm not even sure. I didn't have time to mess with it, b/c I had to be back to the other neighborhood for my son in an hour (thus the hour walk I ended up taking). Anyway, think I'll just run TO the gym from now on and stay away from the cardio machines. But I'm going to have to get a trainer to show me all the other equipment so I can do SOMEthing even on days when the weight area is full (it is a very small weight area, and I got there a tad late today). I just have to figure out what it's gonna cost me for a trainer session to show me the machines, ugh more cost!

Anybody working at gym should show you how to use machines without charging a penny.

@fromhereonout -I would find the brand and google it - I'm sure there is a youtube video out there : )
What Tae Kwon Do rank is your son?

Today I went to work out with a teacher friend after school and the internet wasn't working right so no online video. So walked over to the elementary school which has two sets of stairs and we walked a loop of stairs for about 25 minutes. It was nice - although not what I was planning. She has little ones at home and doesn't get lots of time to exercise. I appreciate the place I am in life and my kids are good to let me work out when I need to.

I thought about trying to find the brand of the circuit machines, looked at pics from their website last night but couldn't make it out. I hope they'll show me the machines free of charge, but there are so many of the circuit machines--it'd take awhile. I've actually never been to a gym with so many of those machines. I'm nervous to just plunge in b/c sometimes these machines have brake pedals and things and you really need a primer. I just want to have something to do on afternoons if the weight section is packed. I think I'll just have to come up with 8 or 10 I'd want to learn and start there. I definitely want to be shown how to use the assisted pullup/chinup/dip machine. I want to work on those moves, but the machine is tricky looking, with 3 steps going up (I've never used one like that, only the simple kind). Anyhooooo.

Jen, my son is just green half blue (ITF). He's just turned 9yo, but he's a very playful kid, so he doesn't take it very seriously and to be honest, he's sorta the Gomer Pyle of the class (but not meant in a mean way). He just is in his own little imaginitive world, while the other kids take it much more seriously. The teacher is very patient with him and has told us that he'll come around eventually. Teaching taekwon-do is an amazing gift. I'm amazed what his teacher has accomplished with all those kids (& adults). Getting my son into tkd is one of the things that I feel like was sent to us by some sort of divine providence. It has helped him in so many ways, I can hardly go into it all (with language, socializing, discipline, respect, strength, self-confidence, etc)

My family loves it. I am a 2nd degree black belt, my husband is 3rd. Oldest son is 1st degree (17 ) and my other son (12) is a temp black. My 9 year old daughter is a green belt. She is not really doing classes anymore. She was more stubborn then we were.

I think it has been the best thing in my entire life. I wouldn't have been able to try the thing physically and lose the weight I have without it.

You are great for dedicating the time to take him to his classes.
