Overhead press set up

normally i set up the overhead press in the squat rack, right at the level where i'm going to have it in the bottom of the lift.
am i short changing myself by not cleaning it right off the floor? or at least a hanging clean?

I set up at the top of the lift, and have nothing further to contribute. Thanks for listening.0

I think you're short-changing yourself for 1 or 2 reps if you DO clean it. The clean isn't part of the press, so I'd stick to lifting from the rack.0

This.
I can press more than I can clean. I got a squat rack for home so I could press more.0 -
I used to clean it up on the first rep of every set, and then realized it was severely hurting my performance to complete all my reps and sets once I was getting close to my max weight for sets.
I have not cleaned it up since.
However, if I'm feeling frisky, I'll throw in some hang cleans just for kicks after I'm done.0 -
I wouldn't clean it from the floor if you goal is to train the OHP.0

I used to set i up in the squat rack, but now its so busy and equipment so scarce I just do military press.0

this. at lower reps I doubt I could do 90% of what I could do pulling it out of the rack in the lowered position for OHP.0 -
