Body By You bridge question

I did Evaluation day 2 and on the bending exercises breezed through all the way to the 2 second pause hip extensions. Then the next exercise (which I think was the bridge - don't have the book in front of me) stopped me in my tracks.
If I pointed my fingers out to the side and had my heels on the ground, I could get up into a bridge with no problem. But having my fingers pointed towards my toes and legs straight out? I couldn't even begin to see how it was possible to do one rep from that starting position.
So, my question is - what can I do to build up the necessary muscles to complete that exercise? The previous exercise has nothing to do with arm strength.
Note - on the pushing exercises I was able to complete exercise #1 (wall pushups - could only complete 6 of the countertop pushups, although that was mainly because the counter hurt my hands) and the exercise right before the first divebomber (I'm not sure if my form was good on the divebomber, so I didn't count it as finished.)

If it is the exercise I think you are referring to, just keep working on it, you'll get there. I started a few levels lower than you for bending, and when I got to that exercise, I could only do a few reps the first time. Within a week, I had passed that level (and I have seriously weak arms). I think some of the difficulty is getting used to the movement as opposed to strength, though core strength might be an issue. You do have to shift onto your heels during the movement, and your butt is moving both up and forward to allow for this. Follow the instructions exactly, particularly the bit about how to keep your shoulders back, and you'll get it in no time.0
