Hello All!
New runner here. Just completed my W2 D3 run and boy was it a bad run. Is it too early to feel this way? I was mentally and physically out of it today. Amazing how strong and important the mind can be for the body huh. Had an over all bad day and just felt out of place and down. I figured my run tonite would make me feel better and keep me focused but it was just the opposite, I was counting down the mins to be done with it. Ive felt so strong and excited throughout the first two weeks I allways looked forward to my next run but not today and its a real sucky feeling specially when Im adding it to my already crappy day... :indifferent:
So my C25K friends, how do you stay strong physically, mentally and spiritually after a bad run so you dont get discouraged for the next one? I would really love some advice.. thanks :flowerforyou:

I'm sorry for your bad run. But don't let it get you down. They will happen once in awhile. We all have them and we all feel the pain & discouragement of them. Worst thing you can do is let a bad run win. You'll do great on W3 D1.
Don't give up. This will happen once in awhile. It might be a bit hard to get started next time but do it. You'll be glad you did.0 -
You will learn that amazing runs follow bad runs most of the time.0

This, and yes, you can have a "bad run" even in week 2. I did the program once, continued running afterwards, then couldn't run during my pregnancy, so for all intents and purposes I'm back at square one. W2D1 was great, and W2D2 was awful. Not sure why it was bad, but I'm doing W2D3 today or tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be good! Even experienced runners have off days, and you just have to remind yourself that you'll have more good and "just ok" runs than bad runs.0 -
thanks guys.. feeling better today and reading ur posts does help0

Hate to tell you this hun...
But the majority of your runs will be either average or crappy. Only about 10% of my runs end with me feeling awesome. But the 10% is worth it.0 -
I know how i'll feel if i DON't complete the program: disappointment. I don't want to feel that about myself. Then again, if you genuinely HATE running, don't do it. Over the course of 6 weeks, i have learned to love it, the good runs and the bad. I'm not fast, but improving on endurance and speed is the best part of the journey. The challenge is what makes it fun, that doesn't mean it's gonna be easy, some days are going to downright suck and hurt, but it'll be worth it.0

That's pretty much what keeps me going, knowing the end result will be well worth the sweat and tears.0

Read a lot of articles recently about health and am now focusing on running related material. More than one of them emphasized that there WILL be runs that don't go well and that you shouldn't let it discourage you.
Just go out next time and try as hard as you can to make it a better run.0 -
W3 D1 was much better :-)0
