Foot Issues

I am on W4D2 (ZenLab version) - and I couldn't finish the last 3 minutes of the 5 minute run. I'm having all sorts of foot problems - plantar fasciitis, numbness, aches - and I have not yet been able to find a comfortable shoe to support my high arch.

Any one else out there with foot issues like me? What shoes do you use?

On a side note, my endurance was crap today too - it was just a super bad run and now I am not excited at all to try again. :(

Sorry about the bad run. Those are so depressing. However, it usually means that your next run is terrific. Not sure why that is but that's how it seems to work.

Have you been to a Running store and had your feet fitted? Take your shoes with you when you go. They will help you find the proper shoe for your foot. It's the best thing you can do for your feet.

I also suggest getting into to a specialized running store, try looking one up in you area. They are great at fitting you for shoes and will tell you if the current shoes you have actually work for you.
I was having shin splints and PF issues when I first started my C25k. Once I get fitted for correct running shoes my shin splints went away. I did however still have issues with my PF, that is going to be a forever issue now. BUT after saying that correct running shoes did help, my flare ups are not nearly as frequent, only after really long runs 10+ miles or so.
Also look into actual running socks, they help as well, when you go for shoe fitting ask them about socks as well.

Hang in there, it will get better, but go get fitted !!

I'm finishing C25K this week. I also have plantar fasciitis but I dealt with it by getting proper running shoes (had myself analysed at a specialized store) and sleep with a brace.

Thanks all for your great suggestions. I will make my way to a proper running store for help. Part of me feels intimidated going to those places since I still don't feel like a 'real runner'.

Loosen your laces & tie them under the tongue of your shoe when you do so. I had foot ache during and after every run before I did this. Even if your shoes feel too loose, your feet expand as you run. Also, I second the advice to go to a running shop to get fitted with the correct shoes for your foot type

Tell them that you've started the Couch to 5k program and that you are having issues. They will analyze your gait and recommend three or four pairs of shoes. Ask them why they recommended each shoe and what the differences are between them. Try them on and run in the store or outside if they will let you. If you need to decide between two shoes, ask the prices. Ask if they have different colors if you don't like the color of the style you pick. Throw in a couple of pairs of socks. It'll be fun.
