Question about obesity.

I'm considered obese, but I am going to start this program. Now when he tells you not to cut calories I get the point but I feel like its geared more towards those who are around the 120 to 140 range maybe even up to 160. If I were to do this at deficit how big of a problem would it be? Keep in mind that I'm 198 pounds.

I found his equations for my weight/age category were severely off! It was less than my BMR. I followed the TDEE minus 15% goal, so I did eat at a bit of a deficit but don't cut too much....you will be hungry:)0

I think you're right- he was gearing his comments at women who had 10lbs to lose and/or wanting to simply get more muscle. I started at 186 lbs and I immediately started at a cut. I had great results with a 10%-20% deficit. Any more than that and it affects my strength. It's not a problem at all to complete this program at a deficit. I like the scooby calculator for cals: http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/.
Or heybales' (MFP member) spreadsheet that is VERY detailed: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/813720-spreadsheet-bmr-tdee-deficit-macro-calcs-hrm-zones0 -
