Hi everyone! Feel free to chat it up! Let's get to know each other as we're here to support each other while changing our bodies and eating habits in this 90 day commitment. Knowing a little bit about each person is really helpful!
I am an educator in the public school system, and I have taught middle school students for about 13 years. I have a teenager at home and a husband who enjoys working out at the gym. I have been a member of the gym, but I like the comfort of my home, for the convenience. This is my second time committing to a challenge, and I am very excited to have everyone along on the journey!
This is a link to the spreadsheet to record our progress each week:

Add your name, and enter your current weight as the start weight.
All weigh-ins are due on the spreadsheet no later than midnight, Mondays.

Hi! I'm so happy to be doing a group challenge again! It is really motivating for me to have to record my weight and progress with others!
I'm just getting back into my healthy lifestyle and working out after having a beautiful baby girl 6 months ago! My how that time has gone so fast!! My goal is to workout at least 5 times per week. I just got a gym membership, but I also have many at home workouts that I enjoy, such as Les Mills Pump, step videos, Turbo Fire and I just recently got T25. I'd like to do a combo of most of them depending on what my schedule allows. I'm back at work full time and have an hour commute each way, so finding time to workout is tough. I'm not a morning person, but the most convenient time to workout is at 6 am while my husband is still home before the baby wakes up. This way I don't miss any precious time I have with her.
I'm excited to have a group of friends that can all help motivate each other!!0 -
YAY for starting this again!
I have Les Mills, Turbo Fire &T25 so I'll have to see which one or mix it up for the new year!
I look forward to new friends and new goals!0 -
Hello, my name is Wanda. I weigh 246.2 pounds and I have been a MFP member since September 24, 3014. I have lost 41 pounds. I am so happy you will be a part of the challenge again!!! You are an awesome motivator, and you have been doing great since the baby!!!! I totally understand the work schedule. When we moved, and my commute became longer, that's when my workouts started to fall apart... and so did my eating habits. But, I am really motivated to reach my goals and maintain this time. WE CAN DO THIS!!!Hi! I'm so happy to be doing a group challenge again! It is really motivating for me to have to record my weight and progress with others!

Hello! My name is Rachael and I live in central Oklahoma. Last year I had lost 14 lbs before sustaining a work injury that forced a surgery and 3 mos off. I gained back everything lost and then some. I am now back at work (BOTH jobs..yes, I have 2) and ready to go full force in changing myself for the better. I actually re-started my eating healthy and weight loss regimen yesterday. I have PCOS so losing weight is difficult. I also am limited in exercise for another 60 days or so due to my surgery. Although I have Jillian Michaels and other workout DVD's I am not allowed to use them. The reason being is I had knee surgery last Sept (the injury I was taling about) and still dnt have complete Range of Motion. I am allowed to walk and do LIGHT jogging, but no jumping, squats or any other forced movement per Dr's orders. I feel like I have a disadvantage between the inability to really workout and my PCOS, so I'm using Plexus Slim for the next month to jumpstart my weight loss this month...at least to lose what I gained prior to my injury.
In terms of time I work full time an hour away MOn-FrI and then part time as a cashier Fri-Mon and have two beautiful kids so my time is limited but I have committed to finding time to workout somehow..even if it's to dark/cold to walk outside I will walk in place at home or something.
But I will overcome obstacles and get to my goal weight, plus become a healthier me...I WILL. I am strong and I am determined!!

Oh, my 1st job is as a 1st grade teacher. This is my 2nd year and OI love it:-) Even the hour commute and 5am wake-up calls ( I leave by 545 Am) is worth it. My 2nd job is as a cashier at a local grocery store. My husband and I will celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary on Jan 5th 2014 :-) He works in media at a local university. I am 30 with 2 girls ages 13 and 4.0

Great to have you Rachael!!! You are really an inspiration!! I am happy to be on this journey with you! You attitude of "where there's a will, there's a way" is just what we all need. Once you create your plan and follow it, you will probably be surprised with how much you can achieve with walking. I hope you have a speedy recovery back from your surgery! I know that having those wonderful girls and those 1st graders keeps you burning calories also!!! I and a few others here have the Leslie Sansone, "Walk Away the Pounds" series. Have you heard of these? Might be helpful to keep you from walking in the dark/cold.Hello! My name is Rachael and I live in central Oklahoma. I've heard about that serios but have never seen it nor do I own it. Is it really just a DVD where you are walking? Like, what makes it so different than normal walking?0 -
oops...guess I dnt know how to copy a quote and respond on the same line. Sorry...
Anyways, I've heard of the "Walk Away the Pounds" but have never seen or used it. Is it literally a DVD of walking? Like, how is it different than normal walking?0 -

No worries! I just click on "quote" under the comment and insert at the top to type. She does have several DVDs, but I just found out today that she is on YouTube (Exercise TV Channel). The biggest difference to me is that you incorporate hand and arm movement while you walk in place. There's is some walking up, back, side-to-side, kicks, etc.oops...guess I dnt know how to copy a quote and respond on the same line. Sorry...

I'll join! My name is Chelsea. I recently switched from using Livestrong to using MDP to track, because Livestrong changed their site and got rid of the community (the best part!). I'm starting out at 186, and would like to get down to my 130's this year. I gained a lot of weight a couple years ago, topping out at about 203 lbs on my 5'1" frame. Hopefully this challenge will help me push through the first 15 lbs or so, and getting back to a comfortable weight for the long term0

Hello everyone! I was looking for a nutrition challenge and found this one. I would love to join. I don't have much weight to lose but I need motivation to eat healthy and stay on course. Also once I reach my goal, about 125lbs, I would love to maintain. That is the hardest part for me. I am at 133 right now. I definitely let go during the holidays as usual, even after promising myself that I will not do it. But that is in the past...here we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :drinker:
I am 50yrs old, married, have two children and a 5yr old granddaughter. I also have 3 dogs. I have two part time jobs. I am a research associate for a medical school and a Zumba instructor. I have been teaching for 4 yrs. I am only teaching 2 classes a week now. I have been active all my life, some stages more than others  I have the usual aches and pains now that come with age and also being active so much. In addition to teaching Zumba, I love to do weight trng, normally heavy weights. I also do Bikram yoga (hot yoga). I do that at least once a week. I love it!!! I wish I could do it more often but it is time consuming (90mins) and the studio is far from where I live. I stopped running in late 2009 after finding out I have a labral tear, I also have arthritis in all my joints. But that is NOT stopping me!!! That would be the worst thing I can do to myself physically and emotionally.
As you can see I am pretty active but when it comes to eating that is where I "fail". LOL Well, not 100%, I can eat pretty healthy but have my moments where I succumb to sweets, chips, etc. I started already to challenge myself and I am going gluten free, dairy free, alcohol free, cut back on caffeine (no coffee after 2pm). I took some blood work results to a metabolic specialist and he recommended I go gluten free and dairy free for at least 30 days and see how I feel. I have always suffered from some GI issues and that might be the culprit.
Do we have to log in the foods daily? Lately I have been finding it too inconvenient for me. Some say if you eat mostly clean counting calories is not really necessary. LOL At least that is my excuse.
I am so sorry this is so long...:noway: :flowerforyou:0 -
Hello and Welcome, alf1163! Thank you for taking the time to share your journey with us! Wow! Zumba instructor! You can keep us all motivated with your activity. I do want to encourage you to log your food, even if you are eating clean. This way, you will have something to look back on and give yourself a "Grade" so-to-speak. Also, you can know what works and what doesn't. As far as nutrition, we will share our goals each week (i.e. no junk food, clean eating, etc.) and report on results. Then, respond to group members and encourage each other with feedback in the form of articles, videos, pic-grams, personal experience, etc. I'm looking forward to reaching ours goals! :flowerforyou:Hello everyone! Hi everyone! I've done Angela's weight loss challenge before. I was already on a weight loss track, but had been slowing down, and I found it to be motivating. I've now been stagnant in my weight loss for about a year now and I haven't reached my goal weight. So, I'm looking forward to doing it again.
My top weight was 241 pounds and suffered from high blood pressure. I am 5'3" and I currently weigh 163 pounds. I lost a total of 82 pounds over the course of 3 years, but I'm currently 4 pounds up from that. (I never log my weight gains, because I feel like that is giving in to it.) So, I keep losing and gaining back that last 5 pounds over and over again. My goal weight is 140 pounds, so I have about 23 more pounds to lose. I no longer have high blood pressure, am off the meds. The last time I had it checked, it was 106/68, which is very good.
I exercise an average of 4 days a week. I do small group training (circuit style) with 3 friends and a fitness trainer two days a week and I usually go to spin twice a week. Everything else is just recreational, such as walking, running, snowshoeing, hiking, etc... Sometimes I like to kickbox too - good stress reliever.
I am 46 years old, have a son who is 21 in his senior year at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. I have two grown adult step children who have kids of their own, so I consider myself to be a Grandma. I've been with my husband for 24 years. I feel young and strong in spite of my age. Last March I competed in a StrongMan competition (the women's division) and came in 4th out of 8 women. The three women that beat me out were all in their early 20's. I like to run in 5K's two or three times a year, but I'm thinking of upping my game to 10K's.
That about sums the fitness part of me. As for the diet, I combine a low/sugar high fiber diet, along with counting calories.
Good luck to all of you. It's been nice reading your self-summaries. I'll try to friend all of you when I have a bit of time. Right now, I have to research recipes for a family dinner tomorrow night. :drinker:0 -
Ronita, wow!! Awesome job!!!! Congrats on your weightloss!!! :drinker: :drinker: and the best part is that you are off the HBP meds!!!
Angela, thank you for the warm welcome. I logged in my foods today. I have to readjust the total calories because I want to eat about 1600 cals and right now it is showing under 1500. That has also been a problem with me not knowing if I am eating enough. :grumble:
I am undecided about the workout I will be starting this coming week. It is time to change my workout regimen. I joined two challenges in facebook but I don't think it is enough. I am thinking about doing new rules of lifting for abs (I have done the one for women) or do ChaLean Extreme again. I have done it about 3 times already in the past 4 yrs. I really enjoy it. What workouts are you doing or starting with this challenge?
Do we post our measurements this weekend or Monday?

Hi. I'm Tati. I'm 53, married to the love of my life and have 3 too many children and 4 too many dogs  Working through some issues with knee pain ... partially because if my weight and partially because if arthritis. i have about 96lbs to lose. Ouch :blushing: ... that's such a big number.
I'm so glad I found this group. Although I have a new found motivation to become healthy ... staying accountable and having friends to share your journey sure is a bonus! Really looking forward to the next 12 weeks!!! ... Thanks for having me!
Although my knees are a struggle, I am going to make a mad attempt at Hip Hop Abs and being on point with my calories.0 -
Good morning, I took my measurements this morning but have some questions. Are reporting total inches from those 5 measurements or separately? Also, chest measurement, over the nipples or under the breasts? I took both just in case. Also the hips, around hip bone, widest part of hips or around the buttocks? Thanks!!
Tati, welcome! :drinker: You have to start somewhere. Like you said anything is better than nothing. Good for you!! :drinker:
