Mid Week CHECK-INS

Friends/Challengers:

At least to start the challenge I would like to post (and read others posts hopefully) a couple times each week.
Check-In is accountability for me. I need to refocus OFTEN sometimes and can't wait till Monday weigh in.

So...
1-2-14 - good day.... under cal...logged every little bite that I ate, even the 2 pieces of choc that's still hanging around the office. I wish I was the decision maker on that... I would throw it away! Still, we don't always have control over what is in front of us. I CAN control what I choose to eat though. A GREAT day would be this plus exercise. THAT'S MY GOAL FOR TODAY.

Down 2.8 lbs since the 1st, but we have influenza at my house (despite everyone getting the vaccine). Keeping well hydrated, so I think I'm okay there. It will be interesting to see what I weigh on Monday!

Had a reminder yesterday of why morning exercise is the best for me. My 45 minute drive home became 2 hours. But I had already exercised at 5am so I was good !

2014.... so far, so good!!

One small problem... I belong to a small gym which is normally very quiet with just a handful of members there at any given time. However, last night after work there was a LOT of people there! I did not like it! Too many people talking.... tv's weren't being muted... others on cell phones.... too much distraction! I hope those 'newbies' get bored quick and stop going!!

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy weekend!

I've done 30 minutes on the elliptical every day this week and I'll be back to strength training as well next week. I'm also doing OK on nutrition so far. I have a feeling that my initial weigh-in was artificially high - I over-indulged on NYE - so I will probably have a solid loss to report and may recalibrate my goal for the challenge.

I'm making sure that I'm getting at least 30 minutes of exercise each day and staying within my calories. My new thing is trying different exercises - cardio and strength.

I did a Jillian video today, and she totally kicked my *kitten*. I couldn't get through the whole thing without a break. I will wait a few days before attempting it again as I bet I will feel it tomorrow.
  • The first few days of the new year have been great for watching my calories and excersising every day it has been great reading the posts and success stories

Doing well this week. I have my diary open to my friends, so if you would like to few it and comment on it, just send me a friend request. Aside from that, today I completed a challenge I started last year at work to prevent type 2 diabetes. Plus I stopped smoking 161 days ago, cold turkey...no meds or help at all!!! I feel AWESOME!!!!! :glasses:

I am excited to weigh in Monday. I have been staying in my calorie range. I have not made it to the gym yet but will for sure in the next few days. The end of the month will be here before we know it.

Give it a week or a month. It will thin out again. Everyone making the decision to lose weight for the new year... after a month most quit.

Doing pretty good. Didn't log yesterday due to a crazy messed up day, but still didn't do bad. :) Had a huge breakfast today that should make for a good day. I'm finding that I do better eating a good breakfast most mornings. I'm a grazer and that keeps me from grazing all day long. Can't wait to weigh monday. I think I'm headed in the right direction!

I've been doing Leslie Sansone 2 mile walk (Her "Walk Away the Pounds" DVD). I think I will do the 2 mile walk this week, and the 3 mile walk next week if I feel up to it. I completed a 30 day shred (Jillian Michaels) last year with great results, but this time around I'm going to take it easy and work myself up to that higher-intensity workout. Feel free to friend me! I'm a daily logger and have been for awhile :)

Love the idea of these accountability threads, way to go Toni!

I for one am having a bit of trouble coming out of holiday mode. The evening siren song from the kitchen is still getting to me, must be all the vacation free time on my hands. I'm exercising at full speed but I'm cheating a bit on logging every morsel. I think getting back to work Monday will help me get back in the groove. The less bored I am the better I do.

Since this is a 13 week "race" remember to pace yourself. Look for small victories to achieve along the way. My next goal is to break the 200 pound barrier. I'm at around 210 right now, getting under 200 will be a psychological victory since I haven't been there since the 1990's!! I've also decided that when I hit 199.9 lbs I will up my run distance to 6 miles. It's amazing how much easier running gets as you lose. I'm down about 40 since I started--I picked up a 40lb dumbbell at the gym the other day and it's no surprise that running is easier--it was heavy!!

Try and weigh-in Monday morning and log it on the spreadsheet--if you forget just pick it up later in the week.

So good things this week: exercised daily and consistent logging since new years day. Not so good, like mule am struggling being out of routine and in some ways looking forward to being back at work on monday - not looking forward to the 0530 alarm to fit in an hour of turbofire before work! New year's day was weird as I had a terrible hangover and didn't eat much so not sure my weigh in was entirely accurate - but just trying not to stress over it and take whatever comes on the scales on Monday as my new starting point. Most of the holiday food now consumed and that being finished will help too...

I plan a treat for each 5lbs I lose, only stuff like cinema tickets or a new CD or scarf but is a good motivator! :)

Been doing great on my exercise. Up every morning running or weight training.

Diet has been hit and miss.

January 1st was a doughnut binge.

Yesterday, I made cookies. I don't think I've made them in 5 years! I made a small batch and binged on them.

The rest of my meals have been perfect. I know better than to even let any sweets into the house.

Today my goal is 2 bottles of water and no sugar.

Yay! It sucks at the beginning having to get back into the exercise groove...at least for me! I hate getting out my exercise DVD, but after a week or so, I know it will become more of a habit and I might even look forward to it for "relaxation" (at least during the cooldown). :)

Of course, just when I get in the mindset to do exercise, I get my daughter's cold. Low-grade fever and tightening chest do not make for ideal workout conditions. I guess there is one perk. I don't have much of an appetite.

Okay, off the negative and onto positive. I've done pretty good this weekend with the exception of eating at Long John Silvers yesterday, but I had a small meal (granted that "cost" a lot of calories). Sunday's are usually a high-calorie day for me because I eat at my mom's, but we are skipping it this week. That will help. I see a can of chicken soup in my future.

We had 3 "Family Get-Together" dinners, in a row! :noway: #1, Thursday=Chili, #2, Friday= potato soup and #3, Saturday=biscuits & sausage gravy  Good times, but glad to be finished with the holiday season... it's so hard to stay on track. If I have any drop of weight this week, l'll be surprised!!

On a brighter note, l'm over my ear, nose, throat & chest cold!! Hoping I'll be able to get more exercise in, now that l can finally breath, again!!

On track! Did great with no sugar and getting enough water.

I wish these darn joints of mine would stop aching so much. The joys of mental pause. :D

OH BOY! Birthday weekend was tough and it shows on the scale for first weigh in of this challenge :(
I've never been able to start a new years resolution because of birthday so early in Jan.
It's ok though. I'm already refocusing and back on track.

Checking in! Yesterday was not a good food day. I'm lazy and didn't track. I'm tracking today though. Made some adjustments to settings on my diary. I believe I'm going to do a little low-carbing for a few days. I need a sugar detox from the holidays. The only way for me to do it is cold turkey!. It sucks the first few days, but I want to stuff my face all day long because I eat junk. I have good stuff at home. I just go for easy stuff. Really, how much longer does the real food take? Not much, if you plan. Planning is the key.

more birthday celebrations yesterday/at work... funny how other people use your birthday as an excuse to make poor choices...."AWW come on.. it's your birthday just slurge a little". Well I didn't tell them I splurged the entire prior weekend! LOL
I got what I wanted then ate very light dinner to accommodate. Stayed within calories for the day. But I know the food choices weren't healthy ones. I am going to plan out food for the rest of the week and go to grocery tonight after work. going to focus on healthy, natural foods (reduce the processed ones). Thanks to cbumbalough for reminding me PLANNING IS THE KEY.

I just entered my weight for this week. I forgot to do it on the correct day! I only lost 0.5, which is kind of depressing because I've been meeting my calorie goal. I'm weighing and measuring almost everything. I don't weigh on Sundays when I eat at my parents house. And obviously I ate out once and didn't have an exact calorie count for that food.

I was really hoping for a pound of loss. I'm going to see how this next week goes, and then maybe consider dropping my calories to 1400 instead of 1500.

    Hope everyone is doing great!

    Happy Wednesday!
got on scale this morning to a 1.5 lb loss since Monday's weigh in.... sure, whatever. up/down/up/down.
My poor food choices, regardless of calories, attribute to the fluctuations, I'm sure.
Patience & Persistence will be my focus for today.
Also, I'm taking an exercise challenge from a C25k friend to stretch 15 min per day each day this week. Anyone else?
