I ran 10K this morning. It was still dark when I headed out at 6:45 am (sunrise is at 7:55) but the temp is supposed to plummet as the day goes on so I wanted to get out as early as possible. I had my layers on and was comfortable enough except a few times when the wind gusts were straight on in my face. It snowed last night and quite frankly running on snow is a lot harder than on a clear surface (I'm guessing it's comparable to running on sand) so it wasn't an easy run. Because it was dark out I went in the opposite direction as usual - to a long stretch of road where there are street lights (my usual route doesn't) - and ran down that road & back twice. When I finished looping that road the first time really just wanted to go back home but turned around for my second loop anyway and am so glad I did.

Hey all. Well, I don't even want to talk about it anymore. I've gotten even sicker and so has my little girl. I'll just leave it at that for now.

Today I went out for a walk to pick-up things that we needed, so walking and carrying stuff. But mostly my lil girl and I slept today. If I can get some planks done before the end of the day, great. If not, I'm not even worried about it. I'll also trade squats for wall-sits (even just a few squats start me coughing), but again, if not, I'm not worried. I'm feeling pretty defeated and just want to get better. I like that I can do planks & wall-sits even in my condition and try to retain a little strength through this, but I really have to start feeling better before my schedule explodes on Wednesday with back-to-school.

Tim, well done on the fast.

Laura, wow, running in snow must be much more tasking. I don't know, I've never tried, but certainly sand is much harder. You might be feeling that in your legs tomorrow.

    Great weekend everyone.

    Went to nia class.

Laura I see people here run all the time but I am so afraid of the ice you can't see and falling...not a runner anyway but even walking some places is hard. My river path is full of ice, we had to turn back last time. We have things for our shoes like chains but not in car.

I am not out as much in winter, if we could get more snow I would get snow shoes out, this has been a pretty dead year so far for us, rest of country got it all!! My daughter in CO is covered!

The pic on here of me and my friends dog in snow taken at thanksgiving was last time we had snow for more than ten min.

Marla I do have Yaktrax that I usually wear when I run outside in the winter. Even when there's not fresh snow there's usually a hard layer of packed/frozen snow on the roads. Some runners opt to just take smaller steps but I like the extra traction.

I'm so sorry you are still sick Sherry!

Nice job on the fast Tim not sure if I would have the perseverance!

I'm impressed with the running Laura. Great job. I'm not looking forward to the cold. Iowa is suppose to be really cold tomorrow and Monday and especially up north  I don't mind snow, but cold wind not good.

I just wanted to report my exercise for today - took kids roller skating we don't do that but once every - I don't know year maybe. But it's like riding a bike. I don't want to brag and I can't about any sports or anything - but I can roller skate : ) I use to skate every Friday and Saturday night for 4 hours! (That's probably why I was sooo skinny then) Good burn I skated almost the entire 2 hours, but only put in some of the time into MFP. Great burn! Had kids drop out because their legs hurt! I even played dodge ball, although I felt a little guilty that I could skate backwards and the little kids couldn't. Ok a little guilty because I was playing against little kids. I didn't try too hard and I didn't win

    I had TOO MUCH fun!

    Have a great day everyone.

Quick post as I'm not home and so have limited internet access. After two, unfortunate) rest days in a row and unable to leave the house I'm staying at today, I did manage to get some exercise in. Got my Wii back and so danced around the living room and did some other Wii exercise games for over an hour. Yeah! Back to an exercise routine! Will head home tomorrow afternoon.

I used to skate every day as a kid, roller that is. They are building a ice rink here in town and I will definitely go!
