Starting out I was only 2.4 lbs off from having a "normal" BMI so I thought it best to aim for the regular 25-35 pounds rather than for the 15-25 pounds recommended for being overweight and pregnant. I wasn't super sick in the beginning, thankfully, so there was a fair bit of weight gain in the beginning.

    Height: 5'7"
    Starting Weight: 162.3

    8W: 166.1
    11W: 167.1
    14W: 169.2
    17W: 175.2 (yikes!)
    18W: 176.0

    Total gain: 13.7 lbs

We're SUPER similar! I am 5'7" and started at 165 (healthy BF%, which i think is a better guage than stupid BMI anyways  ) I'm 17weeks and 175-176

This makes me more excited than I probably should be. Most people I know seem to have had a difficult time gaining (which happens, I can totally understand that). It just makes me feel like a whale sometimes to be gaining as rapidly as I am. I agree, BF% is a much better way to gauge our fitness levels.

Saw this article today and decided to post. :flowerforyou:

    http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/state-one-mom-39-baby-weight-164400976.html

I pretty much feel the same way except I am keeping track of what I eat most days...and not so much calorie wise, but more so making sure I eat enough fruits, vegetables and protein and that I get my walks in. I'm 22 weeks and so far I've gained about 15 lbs. At first I was terrified of seeing the scale go up and realized that this is normal. Since I started this journey overweight, my goal is to not to gain more than 25 lbs. My OB has said I'm doing well so far.

At the very beginning of my pregnancy I felt the need to still diet...gaining weight was a daunting idea especially after the progress I had made. But then after much thinking...I decided I wanted to enjoy my pregnancy and besides...I realized I am creating another human!! So as long as I eat right and keep active I'm sure after the baby is born I'll slowly get back into my running and weight lifting routine and the weight loss will follow. :drinker:

    week 4 - 135
    week 6 - 134.4
    week 8 - 135.0
    week 10 - 135.2
    week 12 - 137.2
    week 14 - 136.0
    week 16 – 139.8
    week 18 – 141.4
    week 20 – 144
    week 21 – 145.8

Disappointed I'm gaining so much so quickly, but I enjoyed the holidays, hopefully I'll get my eating better under control now without as many temptations. Hoping to gain 25 lbs or less, but that hope seems to be lessening since I'm halfway and already up 11 lbs. I know bigger weight gains are yet to come! (At least after 20 weeks is when I put on more weight with the last 2 pregnancies.)

I'm 19 weeks and down 14 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight. Doctor said he's not "too concerned" with my weight at this point. I'm definitely not trying to diet by any means but I am still working out multiple times a week.

    31 weeks: +12 lbs
    33 weeks: +17.2 lbs
    34 weeks: +18.2 lbs (currently 159 pounds)

Doctor is really happy with my weight gain as am I so I took this week off logging. Still trying to watch what I eat and if I feel like I am out of control (ie: gain more than a pound a week without significant belly increase) I'll go back to logging. I just don't want to add more stress to these last few weeks since we have nothing ready yet.

I still gained 60 pounds with my pregnancy. It just kept piling on no matter what I did. So I just let it happen. I have since lost ten. I must now graduate b/c I had my baby in December, but I wanted to give some final input on the forums. Don't worry too much about your weight gain, as long as you're not just sitting around eating all day. The average weight gain is about 20-30 pounds depending on your start weight... So if that's all you've gained, you're really in good shape because that's not a lot. Most important is just that you stay active and eat right. If you do that, you really shouldn't focus so much on weight gain.

I really need to start logging my food again. I know that this is really my first post with a gain (I was under my pre-pregnancy weight until I weighed in today. I just think 3.6lbs is a bit too much and I know it is from drinking regular soda and the baptism that I splurged at on Sun. Oh and prob the snacks that I ate during the football game Sat. night. Ooops, that's a lot of treating myself. Back on track - I really need to start walking again too. Chalking it up to a bad week and will make better choices going forward. How is everyone feeling?

Prepregnancy weight: 163.8 (or 167, depending on where we are starting)
    Weeks 1-8: Continued to lose
    Weeks 8 - 19: 159.8
    20 weeks: 162.2
    22 weeks: 164.6
    23 weeks: 165
    25 weeks: 166
    28 weeks: 175
    30 weeks: 177
    32 weeks (Christmas OUCH): 181
    33 weeks: 181 (Phew!)
    34 weeks: 182.5

    Goal: Just stay under 200!

7 or 8 weeks before I meet this little guy!!

I've been good with meeting my calorie and nutrition goals, so I am not too worried about the way I'm gaining right now. I think the water weight is starting to accumulate, if the sausage fingers are any indication.

28 weeks, 17 pounds. All gained in the second trimester. I'm only eating 200 calories a day above maintenance (as recommended), healthy BMI to start, so hoping it slows down. My goal is 25 pounds. Not sure I like my chances!

I am 3 days away from my due date with Baby #3 and my weight gain is as follows. Pre-pregnancy weight 125 lbs at 5''2'. First trimester about a 2 lb gain. Second trimester 17 lb gain. And third trimester about 6 lbs gained. As of yesterday morning i weighed 150.4 lbs so I am looking at a 25-26lb gain this pregnancy. I ate well and logged my food most of this pregnancy. I also have a set of DVDs called ''Body by Trimester'' by Joy Southworth which includes two challenging30 min prenatal circuit training workouts plus one 15 min express workout. I did these workouts 3-5 days a week (including this week). Cant wait to have this baby already! Will let you know if my labor is any shorter this time since with my other 2 i had long labors and i started off overweight, did not exercise or eat well with those pregnancies. Good Luck everyone!
