    ^^ My quotes this week!

Finally getting back into running this week this morning I ran a 5k the usual route in 28:18 not bad for being off since before the holidays for the most part got one run in last week. Still letting my shoulder rest this week I'm hoping to be back in the gym working out Monday morning.

Today I'm doing something new. At Amazon Local I bought a voucher for 20 drop in exercise classes at a local fitness place. I have to use them all by mid-June, since I bought the voucher in mid-December. It's not a gym, but has trainers. It calls itself a personal training studio. I was hoping to do their kettleball workout that they had on their schedule every Wednesday in December when I bought the voucher, but now in January they only have a Zumba class on Wednesday, so I guess I'm doing Zumba for an hour. Their kettleball training is now being held right when my favorite water aerobics classes are being held, Monday night and Saturday morning, so I'll need to make a decision next Monday on which to attend.

Well tonight I'm going to Zumba!

Great quote today Tim! And what an awesome time on your run. Obviously your recovery period did not set you back.

Have you done Zumba, Donna? I think it's fun. The pass sounds like a great way to get in some classes without committing long term to a membership somewhere.

    Nice rest day workout 13Strong!

My goal is to run 3 miles on the treadmill after work, then I have a strength workout with my trainer. Not sure if it will be upper body or lower body. Abs are pretty sore today from Monday's trainer workout + Pilates last night. Two weeks off from Pilates for the holidays and my abs turned to mush (even though I still had all my other workouts those weeks).

Really great quote today! Thanks for helping with the threadstarters Tim.

Nice day back for you Tim.
Donna, those are some good choices. Zumba classes are supposed to be super fun and you know what they say, "the best exercise is the one that you'll do", so fun is a big positive.
13strong, "yoga flex" just sounds good. Bet it felt good too.
Have a nice workout Laura. I like your new pic--you've come a long way.

So today I took my son to the tutor and hit the park, dressed for anything. I walked and by mile 2.5 I felt like I could run, but decided against it. To be honest, I was having a hard time breathing and i think the "happy brain chemicals" were kicking in and making me feel like I could run, but I decided to use caution. Anyway, ended up walking 5 miles in a little bit over an hour (~4.25mph). I think I *might* be able to run Friday, but will have to wait and see--my breathing is still pretty shallow. Shoulders sore from the assisted pull-ups yesterday. Yikes! Gonna hafta really do that more regularly.

    Have a great day everyone!

Today walked at my podium while grading tests (no students during the afternoon today). Walked after school including stairs for about 30 minutes. Got in a total of 14,000 + steps so far.

I'm chanting Healthy, healthy, healthy for all of us. I think staying indoors for as long as we did over Christmas has made the germs incubate at my house. We are all getting this cold thing going around. I hope it is just a couple of days thing.

Zumba looks like so much fun! I hope you try it.

    Nice run, Tim!

Yoga flex sounds like a nice thing to do on a rest day, 13Strong.

Hope you survived the treadmill run and trainer workout, Laura!

Great idea to do the walk, FromHereOnOut and Maria, when you're dealing with sickness, yours or others.

    Nice steps, Jen!

Well, I went to Zumba. Most of the woman were there already when I arrived. The instructor was really nice. Got myself set up and two woman ran in late and one of them stood so close to me that I was uncomfortable. There was no way I could do Zumba like that. It appeared that I was in her spot. I shifted, around, trying not to get in anyone's way. It was pretty crowded, but by 10 minutes in I had a found a spot that worked. Zumba was reasonably fun, but really no different than what I do with my Just Dance and Exerbeat games for my Wii. I was doing those games last Saturday at my mother's house and actually had more fun and got more exercise there. I'm not really a social creature, especially with people I don't know, and am reluctant to leave my dogs, after leaving them all day while I'm at work, unless the thing I'm leaving them for has something that I can't get at home. Zumba, doesn't fit that criteria.

Tomorrow I'm going to try Metabolic Conditioning: "Get the benefits of both cardio and weight training. Your body will get stronger, your cardiovascular fitness will improve and you will burn calories and watch your body change. This training system is setup in a group class with certified instructors using tools including TRX Suspension trainers, kettlebells, medicine balls, heavy ropes, speed ladders, and more…". Maybe this will fit me better. I can only attend it every other week though, because I have k9 nosework class at the same time on alternate Thursdays. Plus, Fells' flyball class starts at 8 pm every Thursday. I'll check out the kettleball class too, and have to miss my water aerobic on those days.

Can't wait to hear how that class is Donna. Sounds interesting!

We used to do Zumba every other Tuesday at the office after work, but now we've mostly just switched to Pilates (which we had done alternate weeks). There were only a few of us who liked Zumba and we get better participation for Pilates. I miss it, but on the other hand I probably get more out of Pilates right now than with Zumba. After I started running Zumba became less of a cardio challenge than it had been for me originally. Still fun though.

I did not run today. Was driving back to town from work and suddenly felt super emotional & weepy. Not really like me. I haven't been sleeping well, and I think I'm getting sick, and this cold weather is wearing on me, and work has been busy, and I think it all just got to be too much. So I went and wandered around Walmart for an hour, then went to the gym & got a brisk 20 minute walk in before my session with Jason. I'll run tomorrow.
