Does anyone know of a correlation between gaining muscle and increased aggression in men? Appreciate any relevant input...

It never happened to me, when I was at my biggest I was pretty mellow. I was never one of those scream after a lift guys at the powerlifting meets, just went and got my business done. Not even a fist pump after a PR.

No personal experience with this, and I've not come across anything on it.

If anyone else finds anything please post.

Don't listen to this guy. He's super aggressive, and look at how big he is.

(I have never heard of such a thing either.)

Although, now that I'm thinking about it, any such correlation would probably be more related to selection bias than anything else. People who tend to be more aggressive may self-select for lifting/bodybuilding at higher rates in order to feed psychological needs.

Only case I can think of would be with the use of steroids.

It'd seem more logical to me to see a correlation between aggression and cutting.

I was thinking the same thing. Or steroids (increased test, increase aggression I suppose).

I recently started a bulk in the last month and have noticed no difference. Other than being full all the time.

No kidding! Some days it's a struggle to eat all the cals I need! Ugh.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping it was environment related.

I am new to lifting and this is the beginning of my second bulk cycle. During the first bulk cycle I gained 30# in 3 mo. Just weight gainer, workout, food, vitamins, food, workout, food... It was quite difficult due to the fact that I work 13hrs nights + commute + 2hrs of workouts day. Running on about 3-4 hours of sleep per day for an extended period of time and my body always ached.

I was good at containing my aggression, but it was taxing at times. The people that I allow in my life are good people and deserve to be treated well. Attempting to do it better this time around. Just felt I needed to check myself before the second bulk.

The aggression probably had a lot more to do with getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night than running a calorie surplus.

I am not sure if you would call it aggression - but being bish and cutting is for me.

I would never imply that you're aggressive Sara, because you're lovely and beautiful (not at all because you could easily bench me and toss me across the room like a stuffed animal). Here have some flowers, and uh, chocolate. :flowerforyou:

This makes a lot of sense.

I think it's more of a stereotype people have from media and a misunderstanding of testosterone + a positive attitude from exercise.

Edit to add: I was writing this at like 930am and forgot to hit enter, so sorry if it is off topic! Got busy at work! :)
