Right now I'm doing a no sweets challenge with my Saturday aerobics class. I'm focusing on getting lean protein, whole grains, fruits & veggies.

I am adding 8 cups of water and 2 cups of green tea. It is so easy for me to let the water go. I am letting go of fast food, only eating out once a week.

Both of you are doing a good job. Letting go of fast food and not eating out if I can help it are big accomplishments. When I started looking at the calorie count of restaurant food I was surprised, I mean one dessert was over 1400 calories! Yikes! Eating at home meant I could eat more than one meal a day. As far as today goes I met my goal of eating 6 servings of fruit and veggies.

It is so cold here that I did not go to the gym, BUT I did the Arnold workout, 70 squats and a shoulder workout with dumbells. My dog kind of looked at me like I was crazy. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder than today so I will be doing more of the same.

I hope everyone's day was successful and productive. I hope you accomplished your goal for today.

I've cut out all sugar, even the flavoring I used to put in my water. More lean protein and keeping carbs around 90 unless I have a high calorie burn day. Just keeping it simple.....

Lower sugar is a great idea! Did you get the idea of 90 carbs from someone, or did you just adjust until you found what works for your body?

You will be back in no time! Sweets are what ruined it for me. I have got to figure out a way to have them in moderation, without going CRAZY!! It can be all or none, but right now, I just need to say NO!

I'm cutting out my weekly Dr. Pepper (Friday treat) and my morning coffee so that I am not ingesting creamers and artificial sweeteners. My goal is water only...today I had 3 liters and none had crystal light in them!

Good Morning! I couldn't reply yesterday because the wind and cold knocked my internet out  I can't get on Groups from my phone:sad:
I need to work on portion control and less alcohol :drinker: I love to meet my daughter and her friends for Happy Hour once a week ... but with Happy Hour comes half price appetizers and bad decisions :blushing: I am going to cut it back to once every other week and I will meet them after 7 when everything is more expensive. I will eat dinner at home before I go and just meet them for one drink.
I ordered a kitchen scale yesterday. I am going to weigh and measure everything!! I don't have a sweet tooth (I am over my Candy Cane Tootsie Pop addiction) ... and I don't eat fast food. I have divided pistachios, mixed nuts and other snacks, into 100 calories snack bags and keep them in a bag on the kitchen table so I can grab and go.
Hope everyone had a great Monday!!! :flowerforyou: ... now, it's time to push play!

Hello everyone!!! :drinker: I didn't think to check under groups for the new post, duh!! Everyone seems to be doing great!!!! That's awesome!!!! Kudos to everyone!!! :drinker: I don't drink sodas so no problem there, don't really use artificial sweeteners, my husband and I normally eat out on Mondays but he's been sick so we didn't yesterday, yeah! Well, I feel bad he is sick. I pack my foods and snacks 90% of the time and now it has been 100%. I think I am pretty set for this month. I eat mostly fruits, veggies, lean meats (lately I'm into grass fed, organic meats, I just wished it was not so expensive) I've always drank a lot of water, normally a gallon a day.

I have a very busy day. I will try to post more later. :flowerforyou:

    Awesome plans everyone!
To Angela-The 90 carbs a day just works for me.... anything over100 and the weight loss slows to a crawl.

Jeepie, just curious, the 90 carbs include the carbs from fruit and veggies or just starches, simple carbs, etc?

I had the same question, but forgot to ask! I read on the blog of a credible bodybuilder who is in to carb cycling that you shouldn't go below 150 grams/day.

I got curious when while reading her post I looked at the carb count of my raw juice and it said 93g of carbs!!! :noway: Since the 1st I have gone wheat free including any other grains and it hasn't been that hard. But I don't think I could not eat lots of veggies and fruits. :flowerforyou:

    Hi ladies!
I only get my carbs from fruits & veggies, I don't eat rice or pasta I have shirataki noodles instead (made with tofu). I have 2 fruits a day then the rest is veggies.
I have to thank you for all the support! :flowerforyou: I haven't stayed on track like this in a long time and its because of all the support!

    I love pistachios!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to eat more protein than carbs but I find it hard to do without eating so much meat or protein powder supplements. My husband is following some kind of diet, he hasn't really shared much. But he said he is not eating any wheat and he is cutting out some dairy now. So this is going to help me tremendously. It has been a problem in the past when I try to do something for myself but he derails me. :grumble: :noway:  and I can be weak sometimes.

Have an awesome day!!! :drinker: :flowerforyou:

OH!!!! Does that do it for you??? I need to stop eating so many carbs!!! How did you figure out how much would help you cut back? Or is this something new you are trying? :flowerforyou:

Your husband may be doing a "slow carb" diet. A couple of ways you can get protein is Greek yogurt, black beans, avocados, cottage cheese, chickpeas, quinoa, pumpkin seeds, and almonds.

Years ago I lost 100 lbs on Atkins and found that I lost consistently between 50-90 carbs. I'm on the higher end because I'm working out harder. On my rest day/yoga days I try to stay under 80. It is all trial and error.

Well, I'm a little behind in posting to Monday's topic. But, I was happy when I read that a lot of you are focusing on sugar reduction. One of you mentioned watching carbs. I think watching both is fantastic, but consider consuming good carbs, in the form of 100% whole grains.

I consider myself to be a sugar addict - which not only includes sugar, but also refined carbohydrates like white pasta, white bread, white rice, etc... So, 3.5 years ago, I began eliminating all that. I do eat carbs and a quite a bit, because I need the energy in the gym, but it's all whole grains - 100% whole wheat, whole grain red or brown rice, etc... There is a ton of nutrition and it gives me energy.

So, my goal is to consume 20 grams or less of sugar. This includes fruit sugars (I'm allergic to most fruits anyway). I do eat fruit, but only after a workout, so my body can make good use of the sugar. And, I will consume nice portions of whole grains, especially things like Fiber One cereal, so I'll reach my daily goal of 30 grams of fiber per day.
