I was thinking of posting a short how-to and covering the needs for stretching as well as one way of keeping a stretching program in mind but my reading digressed and I stumbled upon a few good resources. So, voila, instead of a long post on stretching anatomy here is a few links:

As for me, I've broken down my program (I have flexibility issues) into functional areas (neck, upper body, arms, lower body...) and loaded them up as a routine into JeFit - easy reminder to do my program (about 15-20 minutes) post workout or run.
Anyone here have another method, an app or more info to share?

Currently, I don't have a specific stretching program, per se, but always try to stretch my piriformis muscles post workout.
I can't wait to check these links out. Thank you for sharing them.

I'm a firm believer in stretching. I don't lift weights, so I don't know proper techniques for those who do lift. But I am a former gymnastics coach and gymnast who has been trying to get some of her old flexibility back. My flexibility is above average still, but I want more!
I do use some of these stretching exercises, but I also use others more typical of gymnastics stretches. It's working too! I can see and feel a big difference already.
Thanks for posting this information! Having a larger range of motion helps prevent injuries--something that would benefit most people IMHO.0 -

I always thought the physiology of muscular contraction was one of the more interesting topics in all my biology and kinesiology classes. If I stretch, it's post-exercise since findings are too contradictory as to whether doing so prior prevents injury. When lifting, a warm-up is my first set at a reduced intensity.0
