Anyone see the report on either Good Morning America or the Today show that talked about those of us who are "super losers"... i,e. let's say you start to creep the wrong way with the scale, but through our wisdom... we know how to get back at it?
Just curious....
Since we all seem to have gained / lost the same 10 lbs...???
Thinking we all fit into that category (in our size 12s of course)..... giggles.... :flowerforyou:

Time2 your post re your goals "@OK , quickly, I want to eat better, not overeat, and cut down on my cholesterol....(more on that in another post).... get in my bike rides at work,( I joined in the MFP Move your *kitten* Challenge in Oct.) drink a protein for my dinner on nights that Babe is working out of town... and most important .....Be kind and remember to love myself, with all my flaws ,I deserve it. "
Love em!!!! Specially the last line !!!! All very realistic and doable goals (in my opinion ) Are you using any tools to help with te portion control goal (the not over eating ). I have hung my 1/2 cup measuring cup back I the outside if my cupboard door again in anticipation of moving to solid food the end if this week! I haven't has to measure before now as I have t been eating enough mushy stuff to worry about cals but I am starting to expand what I can eat and suspect I am sooo gonna hae to watch my portion cause my desire is there to eat everything soon lol. I am sooo suck of pasta honest to god I may never eat it again lol.
Also curious to know how u r going to work on cholesterol - I cut out a lot of red meat and alternated egg beaters with real eggs to get mine down from 4.4 to 2.1 but I did not replace it with enough beans and legumes an Shoukd have (remember that great post u did on how to up your consumption of those items - I kept it and will did be working on that aspect too ....... So if u hae any tips for the cholesterol stuff I'm all ears!!
Congrats andook forward to hearing your progress girl!!
Tammy - you are doing awesome and great idea on changing over the room!! I have to buckle Dow. And hit the inside gym during these frigid temps - I have no excuses since it's in my building. !! Love seeing your results as from a selfish point of view it helps me get my. Butt in gear lol0 -

I am so excited that I have made it this far and I know I will make my goal tomorrow. That said 3500 will be my weekly goal for the month. I am not sure how things will work out after I go back to tutoring, but I am going to try my best to keep this up. I am already seeing a difference in my ab area and Lord knows that is such a problem area for me.0 -
Tammy your rocking the exercise so proud oif you!!!
CArole nope sorry didn't see the show ?
Keeping on track with my exercise goals for this month - discovered just how quickly one can lose the endurance built up from staying consistent once u stop! But figured us be starting from scratch when I set my goals so am content because it means the only place i have to go from here is up!!!!!!:drinker:0 -
Wow, Tammy, fantastic job with the exercise!!
Carol- I haven't seen that show, either, but I agree we Hatters are very wise and know that, for every step back, we take two steps forward :-)
Snoozie- great job keeping on top of your exercise goals for this month! I sure know what you mean about how easy it is to lose the endurance built up of consistency. After my holiday hiatus, I am also finding it a little harder than expected to even keep logging, let alone consistently make those healthy choices and get all my exercise in! But we shall persevere!!!!! We got this!!!!
I really admire everyone's perseverance through this polar vortex dangerous weather and sincerely hope you are all safe and warm.0 -
No I didn't see the show either Carol. I will add though that we are most definitely a part of the group they were discussing. Getting back on that path is what has led us to our new lifestyles that will get us to our goals.
Snoozie it's great that you are staying on top of the exercise. I know how much you enjoy it
Well my daughter talked me into joining a weight loss challenge with a group of 30 or so ladies. Each of us put in $30 in a cash pot at the end of the challenge the winner collects the cash. So now I have even more incentive to push forward. It will be based on % lose rather than lbs so that it fair to each lady. Think it ends the first week of April. That would be just in time for some new summer clothes
Week 1 Goal: 3500

Oh I forgot NSV. I have had 2 people tell me since Sunday that I have lost enough weight. Now while I know this isn't true, I have never had anyone tell me this before so it felt good. That said I am not stopping yet !!!0

Morning Hatters!
Just checkin in.. seem to be missing a lot of the regulars.. hope all is well in their worlds and we'll hear from ya soon!
I'm struggling with the water and the exercise - but have a friend who has recently committed to losing 50lbs and getting healthy so i spent a few hours on the phone with her sharing what i have learned (and tellng her to do what i did... take what works for her and leave th rest lol) but sent her to MFP to check it out too... but talking to her and sharing helped me remember too why i'm on this journey and that I will only get out of it what I'm willing to put into it (it being ME) so will use that to help me find my way!
I had an NSV yesterday, but wasn't prepared for the psychological hit from it lol... I bought my first "single digit" size pants ever.... well, ever since I was about 12 years old! I took 3 sizes in with me because we all know sizes vary.... but my recent purchases of size 10 jeans are a little baggy (keep in mind I still have 14 and 16's I can still wear however..... so the number really doesnt matter except psychologically it appears!!) but I picked up a size 8 just for the hell of it... halfway to the change room tho I turned around and put them back... my head was saying don't be ridiculous ... you in a size 8? In my head I realized I still havent accepted that I CAN wear smaller sizes I guess... and that I'm entitled to try them on!! But I actually felt like people were looking at me thinking really woman..?? you think you can fit in those??? Isn't it weird the mind games that go on with weight loss?? just before I went in the change room tho I turned around and went back for them tho... and I made myself try them on first... well I was actually shocked that they fit, and I didn't even have to force the zipper or lay down to do em up LOL... now.. I also tried on another style in a size 8 and couldn't get them past my hips.....!!!! so again.. numbers truly mean nothing but I will admit the knowledge that I own a size 8 pant that fits does make a difference mentally... I still wear a size large on top... an d I still have a lot of excess fat on the upper part of me so I guess a lot of my loss has been around the belly and below.. but I bought em and they are currently in the wash... (I am NOT however.. gonna put em in the dryer... JUST IN CASE!!
Tammy - love the challenge you joined, specially cause its based on percentage since you've already lost so much excess weight it's fair for all.. my money is on YOU to win!!! Huge congrats on your excellent exercise dedication... coming from someone who knows how hard it is for those of us not having ever been inclined to do it before (notice I didnt say who don't like doing it...because we no longer don't like it!!) Well done you!!
Time2 girl loving seeing those bike runs. you are doing awesome!!!
Susan - hope your poor legs and thighs are feeling better today??? HUGE KUDOS to you on taking up that new challenge at Curves and continuing the yoga as well.. so proud of you !!! While the pain sucks, you know it means those muscles are working hard anddoing what they are meant to do ... if that's any consolation?? probably not lol.. but you powered through it and I'm so proud of you!!!!
Carol - see you've been battling some horrid weather... I so feel for ya!! We're having a January thaw right now after weeks of bitter cold and snow... its only gonna last 3 days but I'll take it cause I know whats coming lol... glad you got home safe (eventually)!!
Well I spent two days being a couch potato after the second dental procedure and end of 7 long shifts on Thurs... and I cancelled my vacation for next week since Im still in mid dental work.. which means I have to work midnights.... ack!! Typically my worst shift for eating and exercise so I'm going to see it as a challenge to overcome that previous attitude and rock it instead!! :bigsmile:0 -
i tried to edit the typos but it wouldnt let me lol0
-
Snoozie -
Awesome NSV - now can wear size 14 on the bottom if in a slim cut - but waiting to buy the size 12s in a "curvy / loose" cut....
Gotta save Gotta save Gotta save....
The northeast has been horrible with weather - we've had a couple of really bad snow storms and the roads were still cold when the rain was hitting them - hence the ice ...... ugh.... and that damn groundhog better NOT see his shadow on 2 Feb....      :grumble: :grumble: :grumble: :noway: :noway: :noway:
Please let me know when May first arrives - going to hibernate until then.....
Carol :flowerforyou:0 -
I feel for ya Carol... after the ice storm we had last week which devasted the city - thousands of trees destroyed and the place looks like a disaster zone.. we are supposedly in a few days of a January thaw right now... temps back to normal winter ones and things are melting a bit, but I ventured out for a walk and there is still a lot of hidden ice under the puddles - very treacherous and the wind was crazy... am really going to have to suck it up and use the treadmill during my upcoming midnight shift; I can barely function on that shift at the best of times - not a good idea to be dodging ice while half asleep i guess lol. Glad you got home safe eventually!
And yes.. if the groundhog here predicts another six weeks of winter??? There's gonna be groundhog stew on the menu that night!!!!:mad:0 -
With all this weather I do hope everyone has been safe and warm.
Snoozie - Rock those 8s girl. I totally relate the minds games.
Susan good to hear you have added curves.
Congrats on all the loses !!!!!!!! Everyone keep up the good work.0 -
I was just looking at my paperwork for Friday's Favorite Test... let's just say a woman over 50.... :noway:
So, tomorrow I can eat all the steak and other yummies...
However, on Wed down to nothing but ice cream, jello and plain yogurt....(heavy on the ice cream )
Then Thursday special meds... yuck...and clear liquids....:grumble:
But Friday... oh Friday... going out for the greasiest and yummiest meal on earth...after the "specialist gets done with prodding up the butt"...... giggles... and oh my the favorite PITA gets to give me a ride.. and he's my responsible adult - hubs won't take Friday off and I refuse to have this test on a Monday... giggles....
So, needless to say, won't log Wed Thurs or Friday... but will login...
Carol0 -
Did I make the hatters stop commenting???? :blushing: sorry... crickets.....
Is it Friday yet - my... hurts....check the notes.... ugh....:grumble:
Carol0 -
Good luck today with your "favorite" test! I'm jealous of you going out for a greasy, yummy meal afterward, but NOT for your upcoming procedure!0
-
All tests went well
Thursday - normal dental but found a cavity
Thursday - normal Mir
Friday - test went well back in 5 yer and of course keep going with the fiber
But I have diverticulotis???
Carol0 -
Awesome results, Carol. I have yet to have it done..... must get 'er done though. The say Fiber, fiber, fiber for the Divert....0
-
5 night shifts down, two to go.. couldnt sleep today so cooked up a storm of stuff and got a lot frozen down for meals on dayshift too so it wasnt a complete waste of the day lol.. have been maintaining within 2 lbs back and orth and have my 3 month lab results coming up next week; I'm NOT expecting good results because of the virus and dental work messing up my eating, but not concerned beaue i know my doc will get the "why" if its too bad lol.. and am back on track with the eating and TRYING to get back with the exercise... I have been doing laps around our massive underground parking lot 2 or 3 times during shift just to make sure I move somehow... but need to get into the sustained daily habit again so that will be the focus for next week...
hope everyone else is doing ok... seems like everyone has a lot going on but sending hugs all around !!
Carol - glad the tests went well; NOT good about the diverticulitis... did they suggest anything besides fiber for treatment?? I know its in the IBS family but I cant remember if without treatment it an lead to colitis ?? Hope you're feeling ok now and enjoyed your post test nosh!
Tired from all the cooking so heading back in hopes of a few more "SNoozes" lol!!0 -
Checking in to see how everyone is doing.
Glad for the most part Carol that your tests results were good, but sorry about the diverticulitis!
Snoozie- hang in there- you can get through these awful shifts! I so agree with you not to worry about the blood tests from this time. My hat is off to you for being such a trooper with this painful dental work!
Pretty quiet on the board. Hope everyone is hanging in there ( I've been a little mia myself), so thought we all could use a little humor to start off a new week :-)

Lmao Susan !!!! Love it!!!0

Hellooooo Hatters,
Yes, I have been mia. After my most recent weigh-in, which secretly thrilled me to death, I was off to spend a long weekend at a hotel and arena. Yes, a recipe for disaster. I was pretty good as I brought raw veg and healthy-ish dip to snack on after hours in the hotel. They paired nicely with all the red wine I drank. Oh, and one slice of pizza which I enjoyed thank you very much. Two of three lunches were reasonable big salads with protein. Smuggled WW snacks into the arena and brought an empty water bottle to re-fill in the arena. Btw, the Canadian Figure Skating Championships were awesome! We are sending an awesome team to Sochi. The US also has a great team. I confess, I am a skating geek.
After a wonderful weekend, I arrived home to welcome my brother who was in town for 2 nights. With my permission and so I wouldn't have to cook right after walking in the door, hubby made mac and cheese, man o man he makes an excellent one. I am afraid I ate All the leftovers. The next night, I pulled my last homemade tourtière out of the freezer. This was a real treat for my brother, such Christmas memories of our childhood! Some of you will know this dish and know there is nothing healthy about it. Roasted mini potatoes and Caesar salad and all washed down with many glasses of red wine. The next night, I refused to go to Weight Watchers and we ate the rest of the tourtière. My rationale was that I knew I would face a weight gain and that I didn't need WW to make me feel guilty. In retrospect, I think I was wrong in my thinking. First, if I feel guilty, is it because I am guilty? I am thinking that perhaps this is true and that it is simply my conscience (sp?) telling me "whoa girl"! Second, if I had gone to WW to face the music, perhaps I would have been motivated and not been a slump all week. Today was my first day with exercise in 11 days.
Tomorrow evening I will not be a coward and will weigh in. What will be, will be!
Diane
PS - Don't ever tell my husband I admitted being wrong, lol.0 -
Hi everyone
Working off my phone... monitor on home computer died $160 later... with 2 yr protection plan
Luckily I have otis and not itis....
so, I can have nuts etc - anyone remember the snl skit from the late 70s 80s or 90s????
Plus I already know not to eat bk etc. ..
Going back to gastro on the 28th.... for follow up. ..
I can't add any more fiber. .oatmeal cheerios and chobani and fiber 1 bars...plus about 9 glasses of water. .
have to do more than just go to the bathroom all day. ...
Let's all put him in the MRI and send him for the over 50 screening.....
Carol0 -
Well, Diane, it sounds to me like you still approached the entire weekend with a great mindset and did pretty good for the most part - most of us (ok, ME) would probably have binged a little more! And, the good news is, you're getting right back on track!0
-
Diane - I grew up in Quebec and tourtiere was a fav dish! Rarely get it anymore as my dad made the best and neither my sister nor I can reproduce it now lol. I think you did great too... and remember a couple of days in the long term lifetyle change is nothing.. its like a few trees in the whole forest.. whats more important is your mind set and as leslie said, I think it's great that you are recognizing it was a struggle, and that perhaps in hindsight going to a WW meeting might have helped you get back on track a little more quickly... but it's not about perfection on this journey to making a healthy lifestyle a habit... its about PROGRESS.. AND i'd say you scored 100% on the progress in learning more and more about what works for you... so kudos to you!!
Carole - I didnt even know there was an otis and an itis.. but i googled it and am glad to hear you have the less severe version at least!
Susan - as usual your pics were a hoot and a great giggle!! Thanks for being our photographer!
Well.. today was my usual three month blood test results.. I wasn't expecting very good results with everything going on the past few months between the virus, the infection and the extreme dental .... but somehow I ACED em lol... everything was down; weight, cholesterol, BP, and most important my A1C (blood sugar) was down too! AND I got the boot ....now have a full six months before I need to go again instead of every 3 months...!! Woo hoo!!! And I am determined to have my A1C down even more by then.. and enough to get off the meds!! Was good timing as I have been struggling with getting back into the exercise - I've been maintaining my weight now since October but slacking off and grumbling about having to use the treadmill instead of outside even for my walking.. well instead I need to think hey you're lucky enough to have access to a treadmill over the winter ,so suck it up buttercup and get cracking!!!! I made the mistake of getting distracted and taking my eyes off my goal of getting off the diabetes meds... but these results were the reminder I needed to get back on track so a happy camper in the end!!
Hope everyone is ok.. lots of MIA but know that life somtimes has a few curves hiding in the wings that we need to take care of so hoping everyone is managing alright!0 -
A BIG congrats and Happy Dance to You Snoozie from the Hatters !!!
