Armour/Synthroid Conversion Chart

This may have been posted at some point in the past. It's a conversion chart for the top 5 thyroid medicines.

http://www.nature-throid.com/images/RLC_ConversionChart.pdf

I was concerned because my doc has moved me from 100 Synthroid to 60 Armor and I was afraid I'd have to start all over from a low dosage, but apparently it's almost equal. I thought it might help someone else, as well.

*Sorry for misspelling Armor in the title. I hope that doesn't throw off searches if someone is looking for the chart at a later date.

I think this chart is completely off. I was on 75 mcg synthroid/20 mcg cytomel, which would have put me at 3/4 grain of Naturethroid or Armour. I felt "ok" on this dose of synthetics, but when my doctor switched me over using this conversion chart I was MISERABLE (even with correct Vitamin D, B12, and iron levels). All my hypothyroid symptoms returned.

I am now on 2 grains of Armour and feel the best I've felt in almost 20 years (I'm almost 38).

The Doctor may start you out on a lower dose, but i think most people take a higher dose than the straight conversion on this chart to feel well.

That's good to know. Thanks for sharing. My baby hairs are only an inch long. I'd hate to start losing hair by the fistfuls again.

I don't agree with the chart either. My endo used it and at my lab recheck my TSH was up drastically and my T3 plummeted. I think the switch to armour is the right thing, but be adamant about rechecking until you feel good and the labs are in line. I think the conversion chart is just for the doctors to feel like they have somewhere to start? Good luck.
