Changing to Armour

Hi! Has anyone made the change from Synthroid to Armour? I finally made an appointment to change my meds but it worries me. I don't want to feel any worse. I was wondering if there was any kind of lapse once you change meds.

    Hi Rozay,

A lot of us are doing great on Armour, but it takes a little work behind the scenes on your part to make sure your body is able to use the hormone correctly. I don't think this is just me, but my doctor initially had me on a dose that was WAY TOO LOW, and I felt even worse than I did before.

Some information that was super-helpful for me:

    Hope that helps.

Those articles were very helpful. I'm nervous because I'm being switched from a mix of levoxy and cytomel to Armour. I've definitely seen some improvements on the synthetics, but I still get no more than 3-4 hours of sleep per night, my hair is wispy thin, and it's waist length so it will take years to recover, my dosage has been increased several times but I still keep falling at the low end of the range even though my TSH is elevated. I'm worried I'll lose what little ground I've gained by switching, but I've been hearing some really positive feedback about Armour.

Fingers crossed! I switch over in 13 days when I finish the last of the levoxy and cytomel.

Jayjay - I used to be on a cytomel/levothyroxine combo and did ok, but wasn't quite "there". On Armour, I feel great.

How much Armour are you starting out on?

Switch and don't look back. You will not regret it. Make sure you give it time to adjust, have your levels checked, readjust, etc before you judge it completely. I had migraines for a week to 10 days when I first switched. Even with my levels bad at my first lab check, I would have taken it over Synthroid any day.

I am going to see the specialist in March to switch - let me know how you do so I know what to expect.
