Just finished Looking for Yesterday by Marcia Muller and started Bull River by Robert B Parker! I also read the new WW magazine!

I am reading two books, trading off every now and then.

Anzio, by Lloyd Clark, about the Allied forces landing at Anzio, Italy during WWII.

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. about the French under Napoleon invasion of Russia.

I am on a real books kick right now. Had been reading almost everything on a Kindle.

So on my desk are the following:

The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
Smart Exercise by Covert Bailey
Food & Friends Recipes and Memories from Simca's Cuisine by Simone Beck

and I am also rereading
Medium Raw by Anthony Bourdain
French Women Don't Get Fat The Secret to Eating for Pleasure by Mireille Guiliano

CRody, I did read War and Peace in high school and can honestly say I would not attempt it again. :laugh:
Anzio does sound interesting, I like all kinds of history, war history isn't my favorite topic but it can be exciting reading.

I was reading War and Peace first (quite long), but I saw a man reading Anzio at the EKG office so I got the e-book. In it, one of the things it talks about is the German bombing the 95th Medical Evac unit on the beach there and killing several doctors, nurses and many of the military wounded that were being attended to. One of those nurses was my Aunt, among the first three women military personnel killed in the European campaign.

I have done a lot of genealogy and like to study the history that changed the loves of my ancestors and, in some cases, the world.

Oh that would make it a very interesting read for you then.

I dabble in genealogy, have had mine and a couple of male relatives DNA testing done as well. When I do retire, I am sure I will get much more serious about it. Not enough time these days. One of my friends is currently heading up a New Zealand genealogy group, so she is always showing me more resources. It could become a full time job :laugh:

After I retired in ’99, I worked on my genealogy from 8 to 20 hours a day for two years. I thought myself to read gothic German handwriting, translate that into modern German and that into English.

I had my DNA done through two different companies. It turned up some very interesting information.

Retirehappy....... I loved the book....I love Paris too. It was the film by Woody Allen, Midnight In Paris, which made me search out the Hemingway book, in the film the hero travels back in time and meets Hemingway, Gertrude Stern, the Fitzgeralds etc......It's delightful!

I love that movie, own a copy and I don't buy many movies but he had me at the first frame of the movie those first few mins. are like a postcard from Paris.

I used to hang out with teachers who were working on their PHDs in college two of them were doing their dissertations on the Lost Generation of writers, one was doing Hemingway, the other on the Fitzgeralds, so I have been reading books from that era, I have a copy of Islands in the Stream I am just getting going on, since it is Hemingways last, I keep putting off reading it, just rereading the same few starting chapters. Must finish it someday.

I just started the new Michael Connelly book The Gods of Guilt. I can't seem to put it down!

OH, I try to avoid anything that involves GUILT.:bigsmile:

I decided to reread the Sherlock Holmes stories. I really like the TV shows currently, which are updating the settings, so I thought I would reread the originals.
