Cosplay!

Who here is in to cosplaying? What are your favorite cosplays, or characters you'd like to cosplay?
I've always appreciated the hard work and effort that goes into making costumes, but I haven't actually done it myself yet! My husband and I will be going to A-Kon this summer, but we don't have the funds to make or buy costumes before then. I'd like to work towards making one for next year though! He really wants to play Kirito from Sword Art Online so I'll probably play along and go as Asuna.
I also have ideas floating around for a seifuku-style Bulbasaur costume! That one will probably take me a while to piece together but I think it could be fun!

I used to do a little larping, and I've wanted to find someone to cosplay with, but haven't done it yet (nervous maybe).0

I dressed up for the Renaissance Festival the last time I went, but that was a few years ago now! And it was just a simple costume. Burgundy peasant blouse, grey velvet corset, navy blue floor-length skirt, and a silky brown cloak. Kind of a bar-wench type look, haha. Oh and my husband (then-boyfriend) bought me a flower wreath to wear on my head.0

I've done some in the past, but lost confidence when I gained weight (or at least the confidence to do the 'showy' cosplays). I'm officially back in the game next month though! Working on my Catwoman costume this weekend!0

That's honestly one of my biggest motivations to get fit, too! All the power in the world to girls who can rock any costume with any body type, but I just don't have that confidence. If I'm gonna be wearing little skirts and thigh highs, I gotta be at my peak physical condition! Haha!
Make sure you post pics of your costume once it's done!! I bet it's gonna be fantastic!0 -
I would LOVE to cosplay Commander Shepard from Mass Effect! And, if I had enough friends into it, would love to do a whole team! **This is not my picture, I just love it!**

I'm going to Naka-Kon in March and I'm cosplaying as a female super saiyan. ^_^ I already have the platinum blonde hair and I'm getting the armor custom made<3
Not my pic, but for reference:

That would be fun, BeeBee! I don't have any friends near me that are into this sorta stuff (or near me at all really, haha) but my husband loves it, so it'd be fun to do a couple/pair costume like Kirito & Asuna from SAO, or Tomoya & Nagisa from Clannad. I even have dango plushies!
Mabbzie, that sounds awesome!! I can't imagine what a challenge it'll be to get your hair to stay like that, haha. Hope you invested in a ton of hair product!!0 -
I'll be going to Dee-con in April, My first one nervous . I have bought a cosplay (Rita Mordio-Tales of Vesperia) and hopefully If can decide who else to do I will be making one myself. I need to practices sewing more!!0

Maybe I'll see you there! I haven't decided what days I'm going to Naka-Kon and what days I'm going to Planet Comicon yet, but I will be going to both that weekend. I should be in the below costume (also not my pic, just the reference):

Haha, you might have to rehost that image, Leeloo!0

So cute!!
Anyone a fan of the anime Speed Grapher? One of my favorite cosplayers, Luna Lovely, did Kagura, the Goddess.
I think she lives up to her name!0 -
I love the idea of Cosplay but I have never been brave/confidant enough to really do it. Plus I could never really find someone that I felt my current body type would do justice. Once I hit my goal weight I would love to Cosplay with some friends.0

Haha, oops, someone didn't like me linking to their photo.. I'll just say it's the Ame-comi Catwoman retro figure outfit (purple and green).0 -
Looks like they gave you the image back, haha. Here it is again in case they change their mind!
Funnily enough, I went and found that one on Google and was gonna ask if that was it, but when I went to reply the image in your original post was back up!0 -

Thanks! Yup, that's it. It's going to be a lot of work to make those claws and the armour, but I'm determined.0 -
I want to post a pic of the awesome Spirited Away cosplay I did, but I lack one of them Tumblers folk talk about, so not sure how else to get it on here.0

Go to imgur.com and upload it, then post it here! Great, easy to use image host. I really wanna see!!0

But how? What code do I put in to make it show up? Whenever I try <img src > nothing shows up, and there's no formatting strip at the top of the text box where I can just hit a button.
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Rhea13/media/photos/moi/Costuming/AniMpls20130001_zpsb25edae9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v193/Rhea13/photos/moi/Costuming/AniMpls20130001_zpsb25edae9.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo AniMpls20130001_zpsb25edae9.jpg"/></a>
ETA: yeah...... it's just a hot mess.0 -
Oh! Sorry I misunderstood your question at first. You use BBcode here on MFP so it's [ img ] insert-url-here [ /img ] without any of the spaces. You also have to do just the image URL, as MFP doesn't like to link to outside sites.
Like so:
Looks great, by the way!!0 -
Woot
Thanks!
I had to get super-creative with the mask, there's some welding on the inside. o_O0 -
Wow! I'd love to make a costume, but I definitely don't have the skills right now! I'd like to work on it for the next year, and hopefully have an awesome costume to wear to A-Kon 2015!0

Oh my goodness, just saw this Kirito x Asuna cosplay on Pinterest!! This is what my husband wanted to do for A-Kon!

I LOVE to cosplay and my husband and I do it EVERY YEAR at Dragon Con. This year is Maya and Handsome Jack (Borderlands 2) and an RPG version of Super MArio Characters (Warrior Daisy and Assassin Shy Guy). We are trying our hand at armor this year so I am excited. We have done Rogue and Gambit, Female Connor and Nikolai (assassin's Creed Series) Holo and Kraft (Spice and Wolf) Rukia and Urahara (Bleach) and Cloud and Lulu (Final Fantasy X) just to name a few. If anyone has cosplay questions I am up to help!!0
-
That's super awesome!! Costumes with armor are always so impressive to me! I suggested Holo & Lawrence to my husband as well. I think the hardest part would be finding nice looking wolf ears and tail. That's one of my all-time favorite shows! Have you got any pictures of your cosplays? I'd love to see them!0
-
My current pic is me and DH as Rogue and Gambit. I will try to find other pics, but we generally take pics of others instead of ourselves, lol. The ears for holo I got on etsy and I did the version that didn't use the tail so that was easy, lol.0
-
Oh nice, you guys look great!! I did see some stuff on Etsy but the good quality stuff was pretty expensive! My plan right now is to spend the next year making Asuna & Kirito costumes for next year!0
-
I made our costumes, but the ears cost me $35. I consider it a good investment because I can use them over and over. Since I make the costumes I have to remember that it may cost me $50 to make but that would be $200 to purchase. Many of my costumes are used year after year and I tweak them as I go to make them better. keep an eye on fabric.com and spandexworld for good deals depending on the type of fabric you need.0

I have a sewing machine, but not the skill to really use it, so that's what I'm gonna focus on this year! I've never done more than some basic mending so it'll be a fun challenge! Thanks for the site suggestions, I'll definitely check them out!0
