I am starting the thread on Mondays as I now have a wellness program at my office and I needed to change my week ending for the wonderful report that they send out each week. I will be weighing in on Mondays and start each week with my new weight.
I had a great week last week. I was 60/40 on good food selections last week. I was also successful in doing some squats and lunges in therapy on Friday and resumed group training on Saturday. Group training was TRX (which I LOVE) and involved even more squats and lunges, so my hammys and inner thighs are quite tender. Sunday I went as a spectator and supporter to the Spartan Race (only BRIEFLY and I do mean BRIEFLY thought about registering that day - but to curtail that from happening, I wore the wrong clothes for that activity - whew!!). However, walking around the area and trying to keep track of my friends was a blast and I was able to get in 7k steps while there. Sadly, I was exhausted and my leg did swell again, so I did not continue with our evening plans to meet up with the grandson and go the the botanical gardens (plus hubby had intense training on Saturday and his hip was sore - he skipped Spartan AND did not want to go to the gardens). We stayed home and were quite lazy after that decision was finalized. Ended the day with 8969 steps and 8 floors (THANK YOU BLEACHERS!!). Oh and those steps did move me up on the leaderboard (probably only until Sheesh logs in and updates - but hey - I'll take it)!!
I did shop on Saturday and bought chicken, pork and veggies. My trainer has a commitment tonight so there are no classes, so I am going to do my cooking when I get home for the week. Determined to get back on track!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!!! Let's see those numbers tomorrow!

wow, great activity and great weigh down this week Congrats Just be careful not to overwork those knees of yours... geesh,LOL.
I've had a good week, too, but I worked hard for it the last 2 wks. We have a pot luck at work Thurs which I am a bit nervous about but will do what I can to negate the calories and then I'm heading to Grandbabyland later this week and have some foods already planned out to take with me. My dil will be out for some of the time so I will have charge of what the little ones and I eat for some of the meals at least. We'll see how things go.

Technically that's for 2 weeks because I haven't posted in a couple weeks. Anything that's not a plus, I'll take it. I also took my measurements and the inches are falling off way faster than the lbs are. My clothes are fitting better and I feel amazing. I can't wait to be in the 140's again!
Great losses Light & Lastchance!!0 -

Thank goodness, I could go back on BodyMedia because I don't think I weighed in last week. I don't remember last week! It was a blur of 12-15 hour days and being under such stress that folks around me were losing it! I even had that odd little almost fainting episode myself a week ago yesterday. (My doc said yesterday that it was probably a little bug coupled with stress, but she wants me to check in with the cardiologist who did a baseline stress test for me about 7 years ago.)
But on to the moment, the past two days have not been as long or as stressful, so there's progress on that front. We're expecting 14 inches of snow here in the northwestern suburbs starting late tomorrow night, so I want to make sure that I get in some good walking tonight and tomorrow. I am essentially still sitting in the same spot that I've been for awhile, as far as weight goes, so I need to be careful.
Weren't we choosing a weekly goal a while back? My goal for this coming week is to eat more slowly. I have stopped making that conscious effort to give my brain and stomach time to keep up with each other. Eating at my desk, eating on the run, and then eating when I've let myself get too hungry are all demons that have been with me lately, and I tend to eat quickly in all those scenarios.
Those are some nice numbers, ladies. And oh my gosh--what a great average step rate, Light! Wow. I'm impressed. :-)0 -
Hey! Wow, everyone is putting up great numbers! Congratulations to all!! Except me:

Gain of ANOTHER .5 lb.
I had a bad week. Went to see my grandkids over the weekend. Less activity due to weather. Took a day off for pampering. The only great thing I've been doing is the squat challenge. Today I did 185 squats! Also, biceps, triceps, and more legs. Ouch. Tomorrow is 190 squats. I wonder if part of my gain is swollen leg muscles:laugh:
Kelly and Light are rocketing up the step leaderboard! It shows in your great losses for the week. Way to go ladies!
Sarah, I'm concerned about your fainting spells. Please do get that checked out. Good loss for you too. Hope you can stay clear of the coming storm!
Lois, you're back!! Great loss!0 -
Good morning, all,
No snow yet in Maryland, but we should be hit by dark. I hope to get a walk in at lunch today. Wouldn't that be something different for me!
Sheesh, don't feel alone. I've been bouncing up and down between 142 and 145 for months now, and so I don't even count the bounces as losses. I can remember when you and I were chugging down the chart a half pound a week, each of seeming to weigh about the same each week. I wish the BodyBugg site had not gone away. I would love to go back and look at what I was doing at that time, as I kept moving down until I hit 129.5. (I thought it was 128.5 until I bought my new scales!)
I thought about you when the doc said get the heart checked. I'll let you know what happens. The fact that you went through heart problems and are so active today is encouraging to me, no matter what I find out.
Hope everyone has a good day. Squats and lunges--goodness, you ladies are something!0 -
Sheesh - 190 SQUATS?!?!?! Holy Lords that's crazy talk!! Yes, your legs must be swollen as they aren't getting any reprieve. Hang tight and I'm super proud. I moan about the 60+ I do in therapy (dang you just made me realize again how many squats I do...they have me do 10 - feet in different positions for each set. - lunges similar set up)
Sarah - SUPER DUPER PROUD of you getting out at lunch to get your steps in!!
Light and Kelly - Great Job on your reductions!!
I have to share that Kelly's steps are freaking AMAZING considering her weather conditions. She's averaging 13k steps PER DAY!!!
Sarah - you were correct and THANK YOU for remembering that we are supposed to be picking one new goal to work on each week.
Mine continues to be getting food ready on Sunday so we have healthy options during the week. I bought everything this weekend, but did not get off my butt after being a spectator on Sunday to prepare and the past two nights I've HATED cooking and preparing. We're eating healthier this weekend, but I have to admit I almost broke down and ordered a fattening pizza to be delivered. I DID make this amazing kale, butternut squash and quinoa recipe Cheryl posted on Facebook. It was DELICIOUS. I will find the electronic version of the recipe and post in the recipe sharing thread so you can find it if you're interested. I"m having that with some pork for lunch today.
Off to a seminar and then hoping to make it across town in time for training tonight. My bag is packed...just hoping it ends early to get out of downtown.
Keep moving!!!0 -
OMG!!!! Training was SOOOO CHALLENGING!!! I think I performed at 75-80% of my previous ability. I was WIPED OUT - We played cards where the various suits represented a number (ie spades = squats) 8 of Spades meant 8 squats. Well then you get a J, Q , K or A and it was a minute of whatever exercise that card represented. I swear we had burpee after burpee after burpee. I started at 11 and by the time the last one appeared I was at 4. HOLY CRUD!!! We did my measurements in stages last night and she didn't have her computer, so I have to wait for her to email me the updates or catch up on Saturday. A bit nervous for the stats, but I've not been 100% for almost 10 months now and this is our new beginning.
ALSO - hubby signed us up for our next race last night. We are doing Rugged Maniac on November 22. YIKES!!! I have 9 months to prepare, but it was cheap enough that we can walk away from it if we're not ready (more mental than anything I think for me).
Sarah - I saw the news this morning and hoping you're not inundated in that snow storm. Stay safe and warm...use the treadmill!!!
Have a great day0 -

Yikes. Yes, I know what's causing it! I am not happy to see that I am not the only one, but it is reassuring to know that I am not the only one who runs into a wall at times. Besides eating far too much, the amount of gain is telling me that I must be retaining water, and not drinking enough water, and perhaps having too much salt. (I surely have NOT had over 24,000 calories over in the last week!!) So my goal for this week I guess is to make sure I have at least 3 of my large cups of water a day (I think it holds about 2 real cups).
And hurray for all you doing those squats and stuff - I have a knee that won't allow that kind of activity. Sometimes just walking is too hard on it. I have been a bit slack in my gym work this week, but I have something bothering me where the leg joins at the hip, it's not the hip, thank goodness. The doc gave me a prescription anti-inflammatory for 10 days and told me not to do anything that aggravates it, so hopefully that will settle it down. I skipped the treadmill yesterday and probably will tomorrow too, and Monday is a holiday here so I won't go at all (short hours, far too many people!) and perhaps that will help. I hope so, because if it carries on and I can't exercise what little I do, I will be in trouble!0 -
Well the snow came. We had 15 inches when we woke up this morning, and several more fell tonight. Needless to say, I did not drive to the mall to walk. In fact, I walked about 800 steps total today because work exploded again. I thought we were over the hump--but folks who don't do the heavy lifting (aren't involved in the hard work of updating) are now just looking at our website and finding things they want changed--like immediately! The stress was so high today that I was cursing like a sailor--though only to folks who laugh and forgive me. Most of the time I am so low key and easy going that they get a kick out of it when I step out character. It's the only way to survive sometimes. The agency I work for likes to work in crisis mode.
But any plans to hit the dreadmill went out the window. So I have plenty of steps to make up before weigh-in day on Tuesday.0 -
Hi All,
Sounds like everyone has been super busy just like me. I made the 8 hour drive home from work yesterday, so it was difficult for me to get enough steps. Only got 6392, which is half of what I have been averaging. Now that I'm home, I'll be back to walking in place in front of my TV while I binge on the Olympics I'm so proud of my country and what they've achieved so far and every time I witness someone getting a medal, I'm so happy for them that I have tears in my eyes. I can't even imagine what that would feel like! The overwhelming pride would be insane.
SarahM - 15 inches.. wowzers. That's a lot of snow all at once. We usually don't get that much all on one day, but here.. it's either snowing everyday or it's -30 to -40 Celsius or colder. Sometimes it even does both. I posted pictures on my Facebook account for Lois, Deanna and Cheryl (who doesn't post on here).
iquitloo - Don't get down about the plus. As you said, you know what is causing it, now it's just time for you to remedy it.
Lois - Love the idea of the card workout! Something fun for a bunch of people who are working out together. Thanks for the steps shoutout I've been working hard for it this week. Walking to and from work as much as possible, walking around work as much as I can in my 6:30am to 6:30pm work day and after Supper I was I walking on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes a day.
Light - You sure are motivating me to keep going! You're right on my heels!
Sheesh - Sometimes it's nice to take some time off for yourself and for family visiting.0 -
I survived therapy Tuesday AND today. Had a butt kicking group class on Wednesday and TRX tomorrow morning. Eating very close to plan - so hoping I can hang in over the weekend (thank goodness hubby and I are not huge V day celebrators - generally stay in and go out other times).
Kelly - you continue to amaze me with your stepping...
Andrea - with regard to exercises I post, I share to give others ideas on what they can possibly do (I use what others post as well). There are plenty of other exercises that don't affect your knees that can kick your bum. If you have access to a TRX suspension trainer - that can give you a complete body workout in a doorway and you don't have to strain your knees. With regard to the hip pain (is it the SOAZ or the hip flexor?) Ask your doctor about gentle stretching or possible therapy. I messed up that area in my accident in April as well and am just getting range of motion back. Took therapy, stretching and anti-inflammatory as well. I am feeling so much better in that area. Just a thought to inquire with the dr. Also, you might want to try using a heating pad on it. The heat has done WONDERS with making it feel better. I used to use ice, but the heat seems to calm it down and feel great.
Sarah - that's a lot of snow!!! Stay inside and off the roads.
Hope everyone is having a great evening. Please pray for me to survive TRX training tomorrow morning. It is so hard to restart for a third time (2nd in less than a year - eeek).0 -
I do feel for all of you with the cold and the snow! We had our share and now we are getting near 0C or just above freezing temps, it's almost balmy out there!
Lastchance, just want to make sure you know I was really cheering for all of you who can do those squats and stuff! I realized when I reread it that it may not have come across that way. I like that you all post what you do, though I can't do a lot of it. I don't have access to a TRX - actually have never heard of it. Don't know what SOAZ is and not sure what the hip flexor is - gosh, do I know anything?! LOL! Dr. just gave me anti-inflammatory pills, and said if that doesn't help to go back and see her again. I don't think it's anywhere as bad as what it sound like happened to you in your accident. Sleeping on that side hurts after about 5 minutes, and walking too much and going up stairs, but I am not in constant pain, thankfully. I will try the heat though, don't know why I didn't think of that!
And darn, the scale was up another .2 today... perhaps I didn't pee enough... LOL! Oh well, we'll see what next Wednesday brings. Monday is a holiday here (Family Day) so I won't go to the gym (to weigh) as they are on shorter hours which means it's usually too busy for me.
Stay warm and safe, everyone!0 -
Hello, all, and happy Saturday. After my last few work weeks, any time off is delicious. Lois, hubby and I are not big V day folks, either, so we just went out last night, did our volunteer work, and then had coffee with friends. I skipped dinner (bad I know) to go walking beforehand. I was not able to get in hardy any steps on Thursday, so I was determined to at least walk for 40 minutes or so. When we got home, I put some homemade vegetable beef soup in the micro, and started munching on some croutons. I know it sounds weird, but I love bread, and I love crunch, and the bag was just looking at me from in the cabinet. I took it down thinking that I'd put a few in my soup, but then I walked into the living room and starting watching something on TV, and next thing you know, I was full of croutons and didn't eat the healthy soup! So I'm telling on myself. LOL
It is very cold and very windy here today, and it has been snowing on and off. Iquiltoo and Kelly--I feel like I'm the one in Canada!
Kelly, I'm proud of both Canada and the U.S. in the Olympics. There are some amazing athletes in this world. It has been fun to catch a few events this week after long days at work.
Well, I'm off to walk at the mall. I hope by now that it's less crowded so I can zip along!0
