Went way off the wagon today

Ok, so it's valentines day. I had a big piece of chocolate and 1.5 glasses of wine with my sweetie. Ate too much lunch. Hope I didn't totally blow my weight loss of last week?

Who else has had a big slip? How did it work out? Did you spend two days recovering. Have to not beat myself up, I guess. It's so hard to lose just 1/2 pound at this age....and so easy to put it back on. I don't want to get discouraged.

    My last big food slip lasted a year and I gained 40 pounds. I started my recovery in January when I got back to MFP and have lost 13 of that 40 pounds. Don’t get discouraged, start anew, one day at a time.

    I had 2 higher days and 1 ridiculously high day last week due to stress. Your day sounds like a lot more fun than mine. I get on the scale tomorrow, so I'll see then. You should be fine though.

    Don't beat yourself up. You have a Sweetheart to spend Valentine's Day with, that is a very good thing.

    Just get back on to tracking.

    I have been blowing it a lot lately and the scale is not my friend, but oddly, I am getting into more of my smaller clothes, this morning I put on a top that I haven't fit in for several years now, fits perfectly, so I know I am doing alright.

    I am sure you are too. We are more than a number on a scale :glasses:

    Thanks so much. I really appreciate the support. It's one thing to know one day won't hurt, yet when we work so hard to lose one pound, it's so guilt-making to indulge.

    Sounds like you are way back to "recovery." Never thought of it that way, but makes sense.

    Yep---we certainly are. I often wonder why it matters so much to me that I stay trim and fit. A few pounds won't make a big difference to my health, yet my self image--and vanity--push me hard.

    Wonder what is the healthiest approach?

    Still haven't had the guts to check the scale yet. Will wait another day. Hate getting discouraged...but reality is important. Thanks.

    Yesterday I was out running errands all day, then met a friend and went out to dinner. Went WAY over my calories for the day!!! It really made me remember how FREQUENTLY I did that when I working and doing that really long commute as well! It made me very thankful that I no longer am under that much stress and in a long slow healing curve! I forced myself to do my Friday weekly weigh in this morning anyway and was exactly the same as last week. Which means if I had not blown it yesterday I would have lost a bit? Oh well. Onward and upward. lol

    I think a one-day slip-up isn't going to make that much difference in the long run.
    It's the "trend" of your lifestyle that counts.

    As long as you are AWARE of a slip-up and don't get into a habit of falling into that pit, you'll be fine.

    And you are exercising, right?

    I have actually read that if you're being really careful with calories and then go over one day--it can actually kickstart
    your weight loss if you've been stuck. (Don't quote me, but hope springs eternal, right??)

    It's a beautiful day today, I am going to go OUTSIDE for a walk after lunch.

    It has been my experience that one day doesn't make too much difference especially, if you have been near your calorie goal the rest of the week. It is the good habits we form that will help us along the way. Don't get discouraged, just keep trying and don't ever give up.

    I have to confess to a terrible day yesterday........I seemed to be eating all day long...I have no reasons, because they would just be pathetic excuses...I don't know why I did it but I felt very uncomfortable last night and knew that I had blown the day, a day when I was on my own and could have been totally in control and had a good day!

    Maybe I shouldn't have, but I got weighed this morning and had put on 2 pounds......I know if I had waited a couple of days it probably wouldn't have shown up but I needed a wake up call...I am only a few pounds more than I want to be BUT I am going the WRONG WAY!

    So this week is going to be another start....... yes, ANOTHER start!!! I am putting my target out there for you all to see.....I want to lose 7 pounds by the end of April...... I have no big events coming up until May so this should be doable, if only I can cut out the stupidity of yesterday ......

    I had been thinking about this so I will put it in here because of what you said about your goal. A new month is starting next week. Would anyone be interested in doing a 5 lb challenge for the months of April? I am trying hard to break my two worst habits 1) I am great about counting everything for breakfast and lunch, then eat too much dinner!! 2) I do not exercise CONSISTENTLY. I have a couple of days when I do very well then wander off the wagon for two and have to pull myself back! Anyway, I wondered if doing a challenge would help to keep me focused.

    Yesterday wasn't good for me.
    I'm not sure why. I just felt tired and "out of it" all day. My blood sugars were ok.
    Maybe I didn't eat enough? I don't know, but I couldn't get myselt to exercise AT ALL.

    so this morning I went out and worked in the yard; I had some things to plant.. also I dug up some wild
    daffodils and moved them out of the woods to where we'll be able to see them next spring.

    That took 2 hours. We don't have a normal yard; we have 2 1/2 acres and our back yard overlooks a pond, so walking
    from one place to another means going UP the hill and down, stomping through piles of leaves, avoiding
    and moving fallen branches, etc etc. I finished up just in time for lunch (LUNCH! :bigsmile: ) and the rain...
