Monday Feb 17-23

Hi you all. Hope everyone is doing good and staying on track. As for me, NO. I have been so bad. I will get back to good today, or ELSE. So for this weeks challenges lets do something different. I think we should aim to get so many minutes of some type of exercise in.

Monday: start with 3 minutes of some kind of movement, your choice.
Tues: up that 3 to 5 minutes.
Wed. ok now we really have to get going so we are going to shoot for 10 minutes. You can break it up or do it all at once.
Thurs: wow, the week is flying by to fast. Today we have to do 15 minutes
Friday: ok here we are. Today we shoot for 25 minutes
Sat: oh no, oh no. Say what? Really 30 whole minutes. NO way, oh yes Way. We can do it.
Sunday: I think by today we could do 45 minutes. Break it up in 5 minute increments if you need to.

Definitely have NOT been on track. I do like your idea for this week of any kind of movement. Thanks for keeping this going and I'll do my best to keep up this week. I know you will, too. Hope the crutches are put away again.:flowerforyou:

@gramanana, you are welcome for me keeping this going. NO the crutches are not put away. I will use them until after March 4, when I have my hip replaced, hopefully graduating to the walker, then a cane, then nothing! lol

    @CRody44, Man, you are good!

I've been lax about reporting in, but I've been marching in place while waiting for things like the microwave, washer or dryer. Not really timing it, but I'm sure I spend at least 5-10 minutes a day waiting for something.

I have been excellent at my exercise regime but not so much tracking food and eating properly - just having some problems with that but going to start again today...so much socializing and company but that is not an excuse gotta get on track.

Sure hope your hip gets fixed soon....wishing you the best.

I'm having a great year, so far. Continuing to track food, exercise, and lose consistently, both pounds and inches! I love My Fitness Pal. It changed the way I eat in 3 days. I had already upped my exercise, 3 months before joining, but had only lost 3 pounds doing Zumba Gold and Aqua Zumba sessions for a total of 4 a week.

Then I added My Fitness Pal food tracking, and began losing, which motivated me enough to try Aqua Tabata a month later. (Part of my New Year's resolution last year to try something new every month - and that's been so much fun, I'm doing that for the rest of my life!).

I'm continuing to do all three exercise classes, because they're so much fun! So far, since Monday evening, I've done 55 minutes of Zumba Gold, 45 minutes of Aqua Zumba, and 90 minutes of Tabata (a 30 minute session, a 60 minute session). I have 3 more exercise sessions this week and take the weekend off.

Weight loss and inch loss have been consistent ever since, even with bouts of being snowed in (little exercise), a vacation to Portugal (tons of Pastel de nata custard tarts), and being homebound with the flu (no exercise).

The 2 main hints I have for making this work- try not to eat your exercise-added calories and measure everywhere. On the weeks I had the least weight loss, I lost more in size. Just as motivating! Size 18 down to 12.

I've made it to my weight goal for my upcoming first cruise (yeah, part of that "new thing every month" plan). Continuing toward my birthday goal, to give me a head start for the possible weight gain during the cruise (although it is a Fun and Fitness cruise with lots of exercise and healthy eating options).

It's all about being accountable to yourself - and My Fitness Pal makes that easy to do!

I'm doing it! So can you!

    Artsypant's,

Congratulations on your program. It took me a lot longer to realize the things that you have done. You have a great attitude.

Where are you going on your cruise?

    Hi Chuck,
    Wow! Great weight loss! Congratulations!

I'm going on a 15 day cruise through the Panama Canal!

I've had fun going to thrift stores to find a new wardrobe, especially for formal night's dining. Will be a great escaping all this winter weather and hopefully come back to find spring on the doorstep.

    artsypants,

I’ll bet you will love it! We signed up for a Princess Panama cruise for next year and did a lot of research, but decided on the Uniworld European Jewels riverboat cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam instead. We were supposed to take it two years ago but had to cancel it because of health problems. We’ll do Panama in 2016.

    Thursday

I did NO exercise today, but I did go fishing. A beautiful, sunny day on the lake. The fishing was great but the catching was poor.

CRody - we are looking at doing either a European riverboat cruise or a Med cruise (went on one of those in 1970 on a couple of aircraft carriers - imagine this would be different!). Hope to take one or the other in 2015 after I retire.

Second day without exercising. Yesterday I went fishing and today I am suffering the aftermath. My face, lips and hands are all swollen from sunburn. Dam Amiodarone. One of the warnings is sensitivity to the sun. But I did do my ball crunches and planks in the privacy of my own home, so I wouldn’t scare the he11 out of the people at the gym.

    GLH2576,

My wife tried to get me on a cruise ship for years, but I cruised West Pac with Uncle Sam’s Great Canoe Club and felt that was enough. She knew that I loved the mountains so in 2011 I agreed on an Alaskan Inside Passage cruise with a land excursion to Denali. I loved it, so we cruised to the Baltic countries in 2012, the British Isles in 2013, and we will be cruising Alaska again this May then the Mediterranean in October.

I retired in ’99 and have loved every minute of it. My wife didn’t retire until 2012 so we didn’t start our serious cruising until after then.

How do you like your elliptical trainer.

Been using it for years. I have the arms and legs design and can set resistance. Guess they are all the same?

Feels like I get a good cardio workout as well as some resistance work. Better than nothing.

Wow that sounds like a great cruise to go on, most people just hit the buffets for hours at a time.

Sounds like you are rocking this, go for it.

Way to go that post was so inspirational and because I exercise so much I feel I deserve the wine calories etc. so now I should really cut that out and maybe start loosing because although I am tracking well and exercising I really am not loosing.....weight or inches cause do check that...I have to look at things like you do...thanks.

Wow---those are a lot of exercise classes! Impressive. How do you have time for all that?
