FTM Checking In!

Hello all!

I'm back to MFP after a looooong break that ended with my now 6 week old! :) I wanted to find a mom group since I can already tell that there are a whole new set of challenges that await weight loss in the postpartum group.

A little about me. I'm 28, and as I said, a first time mom to a now 6 week old little girl. I had an unplanned c-section and am still dealing with some residual pain (but my OB said it can take 6-12 months to really feel normal again!). I'm not quite up to massive exercising yet, but I'm trying to get some walking in. I'm also attempting to breastfeed, although, we've had our problems, but we're working on it! So, while I'm not trying to restrict calories right now, I certainly want to make sure I'm eating healthy and not simply allowing myself to eat whatever I want.

Anything else you want to know, ask away! I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Congratulations on your little girl! My little girl is 15 weeks, but I also have four boys. I am breastfeeding and I mostly walk for exercise too, although I've recently started trying different 30 day challenges. The first two were Walk 100 miles in a Month and the 30 Day Squat Challenge. Next I'm gonna try the 30 Day Plank Challenge. Baby steps. Setting goals also help to keep me motivated.

You know, you can add breastfeeding as a food or an exercise? Most mums use -500 cals if they are exclusively breastfeeding. Also remember that breastfeeding is what your body is designed to do and that it shouldn't be difficult. There is also a Breastfeeding Support group on MFP. If you find you need further support though do seek help with the breastfeeding, as I said you shouldn't find it too hard and that's what lactation consultants are for ;)

Congrats on your little girl! I agree, the time just zooms by. I didn't have a C-section but did end up with a third degree tear, and couldn't do much those first couple of weeks. I eased into working out, and that helped out a lot. Good luck! :flowerforyou:
