Quick checck-in. All muscles still very sore and tired from last 2 days workouts, so I was gonna take "rest day" and just walk (possibly jog) this afternoon, but ended up straining a muscle in my back (carryin lil girl while cold). Still walked, just much less than planned, and tried to direct my back to the sun as much as possible to heat it up and stretch it out. Still hurts, but at least it doesn't hurt to breathe like it did earlier. :frown:

Hope everyone else is having a good day

Today is my light exercise day. A little stair work, a little body weight work, and a little stretching. I have puppy class tonight and a lot of work that needs to be done on the computer for my national breed club.

Hope your back feels better, Sherry.

Rest up Sherry and a slow walk helps, I have had a bunch of back stuff....started when my kids were little...

I went to Nia class today and going to try to knock snow off my mini me house (storage shed) before it caves in. Husband normally does it but he's been sick for weeks, if he doesn't get better soon i may go crazy!

Take care of that back Sherry!

I think you're due for a light day, Donna.

Marla I've removed more snow in the past week than I can even talk about. I'm pretty fed up with this winter. Now we're back into a polar vortex - this is #3. But at least the sun is shining & it's not snowing. Sorry to hear your husband isn't better soon. How's your toe been feeling?

I had Pilates tonight. Lots of abs, some low back, some hips, some legs. We were doing some stuff that was new and mentally I knew it was supposed to be hard (plus everyone else was groaning) but physically it wasn't that hard for me. I silently enjoyed how strong my core has gotten because a year ago I couldn't have done a fraction of what we did tonight.

    Hello fellow friends,

    i hope it's okay that I join you :)
Unfortunately, I won't have any time to hit the gym today :( Maybe in the evening, but I'm not sure (it's about 6km away and if I'm going too late, my mom is making a fuzz eben though I'm 21  )

But at least I did some Yoga in the morning and I was riding back home by bike (20 min I guess).
And later I'm going to the city and back, another 2 x 20 min by bike.

I need to study later, but I also want to think about a fitness plan where I can think about which parts I want to train and when etc.

Do you think it would be better to have f.e. a leg day, arm day etc. or to make a concept where I do thinks for every body part?
I haven't spent much thought about that yet, but after I slowly get the energy to actually being active, I want (of course) make smart choices :P

Welcome nenshali! Nice that you got yoga & cycling done and hopefully the gym.

For creating a plan, I found exrx.net to be very helpful. There is so much information there. http://exrx.net/Beginning.html
    There's instructions for a creating a plan. http://exrx.net/WeightTraining/Instructions.html

Or, there's also Jefit, where you can choose a workout plan that someone else has already put together. http://www.jefit.com/routines/
or put together your own. Jefit is a mobile app, if you have a smartphone, so you can track your workout & progress, as you go, from your phone. (I have my routine laid out, but don't have a smartphone yet.)

^Both websites have exercise databases with pictures & instructions.

I think the way you create your split (upper/lower or push/pull or body part per day) depends on your schedule and trial & error, etc. I thought about it so much beforehand, but finally I had to keep making changes to it after I started, to really make it work.

    Good luck!

Careful on the back - hopefully it recovers quickly Sherry.

Welcome Nenshali. I tend to come and go so hopefully I'll see you around. :)

    Marla - what's Nia class?

Today I already worked out, just 20 minutes strength only exercises. I'm wayyyy off kilter as far as where I normally am for strength and eating. Tonight I have volunteering with dogs, and of course there's always work but neither of those do I count as exercise even though it's movement.

I need to work on my eating habits more so than exercise as I'm a stress eater and everything I want is so far from healthy it's not even funny. I have my food for the day pre-logged so hopefully I can stick to it this time!
