5:2 fasting - any success re menopausal symptoms?

I had a total hysterectomy back in July and, whilst I initially lost weight, I now seem to be gaining rapidly which is thoroughly demoralising. I know that a lot of it has to do with my unstable hormone levels (primarily low oestrogen) and am hoping things will stabilise once I get my HRT sorted (but this will be a long road). I am considering starting the 5:2 fast diet - not only for the weight loss but also for the health benefits. I understand, if followed correctly, that there can be positive changes in blood chemistry. I know Michael Mosley's book talks primarily about blood glucose etc but has anyone tried 5:2 and had a lessening of menopausal symptoms and increased hormonal stability?

I haven't tried it. I find that lowering my carbs a bit and keeping an eye on what kinds of carbs I eat helps me.
This blog from a fellow poster sums it up nicely as far as I'm concerned.

I do the 5:2 to help me maintain a weight loss with a reduced calorie intake on the 5 days and a very reduced intake on the other 2.
Since last July I've had to cut my calorie intake by about 250 a day just to stay the same weight, despite eating the same and exercising more. That's what happened when my estrogen levels dropped off suddenly. I'll be honest and say that it has been hell, my husband deserves to be recognised as a saint!
