Good morning all! Rest day for me as far as official exercise! No choice. I have work, then home, grab the dogs and get to nosework practice, then watch beginning flyball as I eat dinner, then attend regular flyball class, and then home by 10 pm and immediately to bed so that I can get up and to work on Friday. I try to move as much as I can during flyball, so I will have 2 hours on my feet tonight with sprints in between. I'll also do my stair routine today. I am feeling better.

Laura, you asked if I had more energy and I do compared to Monday when I felt like a slug, but I'm also eating more because of my knee. I am actively trying to build strength and trying to stay as active as I can so I want to make sure that I have the food I need to do that. What that means to me is that I have to make sure that I really am losing no more than 0.5 lb a week and not be upset if I just maintain. I am forcing myself to eat back my exercise calories, all my exercise calories. I'm being more active in my normal life and not recording that, so I'm hoping that normal life activity offsets inaccuracies in the exercise calories, but I don't know until I try.

This is a strange time for me to try this experiment as I'm just 2 lbs from a normal BMI for my height and I really want to get to that. It's just sitting there almost in reach, but with how I felt on Monday, sluggish and with my right knee starting to give me problems again, I decided that I needed to feel better, healthier, no matter what the scale said. Two weeks of slightly increased eating is not going ruin over a year of good habits.

On a slightly different note, I'm pretty bummed because my trip to Poland this coming August (one of the reasons that I started with the get healthy program and the goal date for me to reach my goal weight) was cancelled, or at least postponed. My friends can't go and I don't want to go without them. It means I'll go to Canada for another fun long weekend in June, but I would have rather done the Poland trip. This won't affect my health journey though. I love feeling the way I'm feeling and have no interest in going back to the way I was. I also found out that I'm one of about 20 people that will be in a drawing on March 1st to win $1500 to travel to Houston, TX in July to attend the Reliant Series of Dog Shows and do freestyle there with Fells. That would be so much fun!

Donna how disappointing about your trip! But in the end if that was what inspired you to get started on what has been your incredible health journey then the trip was a success even if you don't actually go on it.

I'm scheduled to see my trainer tonight - haven't heard from him yet, anyway, that he's cancelling tonight so hopefully he's feeling better. If Jason is still sick today I think I'll go take the Zumba class at the gym tonight. Am glad today that I went and got my run in last night so I don't have to do it tonight. My sinuses are horrible today so I'm feeling kind of bleh.

Wow, everybody's doing so great. I love reading what everyone's upto.

Donna, sorry to hear about the trip, but it sounds like the prospect of that trip might've been one of the best things that ever happened to you (healthwise). And you know what they say, if one door shuts, then another opens. Good luck in the drawing.

Whoa, so Laura, even trainers get sick?? I always thought they were super human. haha, kidding, but not. Hope he gets better or that you get to zumba, either way. Take care--there might be something going around.

Okay, so today I ran...and ran...and ran. haha. Okay so, I ran from home down to the sea but was in pain, so I took a 5min break to walk, drink water, and stretch out my calves and ankles. Then I started back and ran back to the park where I sometimes walk in my son's tutor's 'hood. Just mapped it out at over 8miles. Not too bad, but I guess it doesn't really "count" considering I took that 5min walk & stretch break. At this point, I don't think that I could have run that far without that walk break. Still, it feels like I'm getting closer to my 10mi goal. Also, after I walked & stretched another 5min at the park, I felt like I could've run the final 2mi home, but it was getting late and I knew I had to get home and feed the kids, etc, so I didn't want to risk overdoing it. But I certainly have learned that little walk breaks sure do revive me.

Hope everybody has a great day!

Sherry that totally counts, even with the walk break. One of the things I had a hard time accepting is that running 8 miles is still running 8 miles even if you don't do it without stopping, but fortunately my friends who are veteran runners finally got through to me. One of my friends on here runs to the bakery, has a doughnut & coffee, then runs home. If she can stop for a doughnut, you can stop for a little water. One day I ran 4 miles outside and then several hours later (after a nap) I ran 2 more miles on the treadmill. You know what? I still ran 6 miles that day.

My trainer has cancelled on me twice in the past month because he was sick. It's been such a hard winter here and it seems like it's taking down everybody. I know a few people who almost never get sick who have been down for the count a couple times this year.

I vote total miles count and the water break is probably healthy! :)

I did only 10 minutes today. Went over on my eating, but ate little junk (went over on breaded baked eggplant with sauce...). Not completely low calorie, but not junk food.

I keep expecting my motivation to come back and a break, but I start to feel sick or an insurance company calls and I just want to sleep. I know I have to make my own luck, getting started is difficult and excuses are sooo easy!

    Day 4
???? 35 minutes on treadmill equaling 3.30 miles
???? Strength HIIT for 25 minutes

Donna: that totally sucks about the trip but I totally think that it wasn't a total waste if that is what motivated for you to make a lifestyle change. The trip is not a loss it is just postponed. But I can understand your disappointment.

Laura: how did your Zumba class go? I just love the upbeat music and even though I just started taking the Zumba class at the gym I belong to I just love it!!! What a great workout. Hope your trainer feels better soon.

Sherry: Don't beat yourself up for stopping during your run. It is proven that a minute rest here and there you will get a better time than someone who runs continuously for long distances. Your body recuperates and then it is ready to go. but I totally get he feeling of having to stop but get that out of your mind. Just concentrate on the distance and you are SO close to your 10 mile goal!!!!

My trainer was a little pale, but he was back at it today. I did a slow 38 minute walk to warm-up, then had a total body workout. It was good.

    Jules you crushed it today!
