Does anyone else find that one days rest is just not enough ? I'm literally exhausted for a couple of days after doing a workout. I used to walk everyday from work to the train station instead of taking the underground. Thats a good 40 mins walk but im to tired to do it most days now.

Once the weights got heavier I did also. I cut cardio out eventually. Recently added it back, purely for the calorie side of it. But switched programs for a bit too. I did 5x5 since April, no complaints with it, will probably go back even but wanted a change for a bit. Doing Allpros beginner at the moment (the last 6 weeks). Heavy, Medium. and light day helps.
Stick with 5x5 as long as you can. Great program.0 -
I've only just started and I'm enjoying it so far I can slightly feel the difference already.
I'm looking forward to lifting the heavier weights as I was embarrassed at first about just lifting the bar but now I realize now one cares less what you do at the gym.0 -
Just stick with it. You are basically conditioning your muscles for anaerobic activity that they might have never done, so its a period of adjustment that has to happen. As long as your caloric deficit isn't too steep, then your body should adjust fairly quickly to the added workload it's being subjected to.0

I do 5x5 along with 3 days of playing basketball per week and 2 days of HIIT so my legs are always tired. I found it worth while to do some lighter goblet squats on wednesday to help with flexibility and give you a day off from doing heavy barbell squats to let your legs recover a little more. I just log it as not completing my 5X5 squats so that I don't skip any weights for barbell squats.0

I too found my legs couldn't recover when squats got to about 185. I started lifting every 2 days, then switched to 3x5 for squats and then MADCOW. No recovery problems squatting 3 days a week with MADCOW.0
