If you had to go to a buffet

Later this month my sister-in-law is having a birthday party at a well-known local buffet place that serves both Asian and American food. I'll be in my third week of keto by then. I figure I can have the prime rib, any non-breaded shrimp, salad, cheese.... I think most of the Japanese dishes like sushi that comes with rice is out, but the sashimi (thinly sliced fish) should be ok. This place is known for their pies and cakes, but I'm going to bypass all of that.
What do you eat at a buffet when you go to one?

Hubby and I just went to a buffet Friday night (to avoid fast food) on our 3.5 hour drive to visit our son and his family before he is re-stationed to England -- they are leaving tomorrow.
We were told that the buffet was closing in 40 minutes, so we grabbed plates and circled the food stations. For dinner, I ended up with kielbasa (yummy), ham, pot roast, steak, cooked cabbage (went back for seconds), green beans, sauteed mushrooms and a salad with ranch dressing (but after all the meat and cabbage, I could only eat a few bites of the salad -- mostly broccoli). For dessert (yes, I said dessert), I had one sugar-free chocolate pudding and hubby had the pudding and a sugar-free jello. Needless to say, I was stuffed, but did little damage carb-wise (can't say the same for calorie-wise, though).
We decided buffets are awesome for keto -- we just need a little more self-restraint (and to not wait so long between meals)!0 -
Thanks! That sounds like a great meal. I'll look for any sugar-free desserts.0
