no, not just you... that's what I think every time I see the name mentioned in the Evans emails... :laugh:0

Great rides and fantastic pictues. Keep it going !!0
-
I missed the first couple rides due to extreme business, but I've cleared my schedule for tomorrow and will be hitting the road! Thanks again for the motivation, TBY!0
-
A DNS for me today I'm afraid. Didn't want to clog up the main thread with my pitiful excuses.
A combination of kids football, getting the car started after being declared SORN for 6 months; and a broken spoke (making only essential bike rides until pay day possible) all contributed.
Hope everyone's ride went well who had no excuses or sufficient motivation to overcome them.0 -
DNS yesterday for me too! :blushing:
Just had a look in the thread, and it looks like there were some good rides! Great work everyone, great pics too!
See you out there next time... Hopefully!! :glasses:0 -
some great ride reports again - loved the Video Clive, not too keen on the wind-noise though... maybe a directors cut version with alternative soundtrack :laugh:0

I was thinking of putting a sound-track over it... Maybe next time?
I though you'd complain about me coughing and hacking (& swearing at passing motorists?) :laugh:0 -
...how can I complain about you doing something that I do all the time myself
I didn't bother with the camera this time, can't get a decent helmet mount location for it, and I'm sort of wary about clamping something to a pair of carbon handlebars, as I really don't want to scratch 'em...carbon failure modes being what they are.0 -
can't get a decent helmet mount location for it,
My mount is a 'Heath-Robinson' affair I'm afraid; a couple of heavy-duty cable ties and some waterproof packing material (black spongy rubberised stuff!?) to pack out the gaps between the waterproof case and the lid.
Works a treat! Plus it's a lot lighter than a full on mount0 -

Once Again Some Fantastic Rides and reports came in this weekend -
Provisional Results for the third race challenge are now in...
Milan Sanremo
- Harksy, with 156.4km, looked like a really great tour with his bike club.
- indeterminate out riding one of the early season sportives, the Wiggle "Cheshire Cat" 129.4km and some pretty serious hills in there - certainly earned the Beer and Pizza
- Me - 93.7km in fairly unpleasant winds and a hailstorm so vigorous I had to stop twice to empty my helmet of the accumulated ice pellets.
Once Again, congratulations to everyone who managed to get out for a ride - and to the ones who missed for whatever reason, there's still plenty of time to catch up - plenty of weekends left
See you all on Sunday for the Gent Wevelghem for a bottle of Jupiter and a cone of Frites :drinker:0 -
Harksy, indeterminate & TBY - Chapeau chaps! Awesome effort...
I think we should have a whip-round & buy Harksy a car...
I'm level pegging with Karan :noway: It won't last :laugh:0 -
Well done y'all!0

Yay! I'm squeaking by on extra points alone! Great riding folks!0

Well done everyone. Some great rides again. Any attempt to get out this Sunday is likely to be short. Mother's Day needs to be moved outside of the cycling season. :blushing:0

Sorry I missed this one a DNS for me. In my defence, I had a cataract removed on the Monday and have been banned from cycling for 2 weeks!! Its a long two weeks.0

Take care of yourself mate - you only get issued with one set of eyes - got to look after 'em.
(both parents had cataract op's, on both eyes, so If genetics have anything to say about it, I'm nearly guaranteed to end up needing it myself, so it's not something I take lightly...)0 -
Okay folks - re: this weekends ride.
Spot Prizes are as follows...
And the Obligatory "Spot Prize" post...
1 Point - Excessive Gradient (10% or steeper)
2 Points - Excessive Gradient on Cobbles (10% or steeper)
1 Point - Pre/During/Post Ride Snack - Waffles
1 Point - Recovery Drink - Belgian Beer
2 points - Duvel Beer
(there's a few Belgian classics, and I'm going to try and come up with a different Tipple / Snack each time.)
Thread will open for entries around 12:00 Noon GMT on 29th March for the convenience of any nocturnal antipodeans...
(has anyone noticed, the races are all a week later this year ??)0 -

Lincoln would be ideal for this one with the steep incline on cobbles but Sundays a bad day for me this time with Mothers Day and taking my mum out for dinner, I'll hit an early ride though all being well.0 -

Thanks for the kind comments, cataract was a side affect of the detached retina from last year. Its been difficult making right turns on the bike, as basically I could not see too well over my right shoulder, had to rely on my cycling buddies!! or just stop and look over left shoulder.
Got the all clear yesterday so I am up for this one this weekend.0 -

Oooh yeah - Michaelgate, yeah 1:6 that'd work...0 -
This week might be a short one for me as well - while you folks on the other side of the world are celebrating your mothers, I'll be celebrating the Great American Pastime - Opening Day of Baseball! If I can get motivated early enough, I should be able to squeeze in a km or two Hopefully the beer garden at the Opening Day Street Fair will have some nice Belgians0

I am ready, just hope the weather co-operates :grumble:0

It is just not fair..."cooled" off here the last week, now we only warm up to 70 F (21 C). We really have not had a winter and no rain to speak of....bodes not well for this summer, we will be on fire with all the dry areas. Enjoy all and ride safe.0 -

Sorry to hear of your hail stones... Ouch!0
