So I have used MFP before, but it was by request of a personal trainer last year. I tend to get caught up with work and school that I forget to log in and update my stats. I also have trouble with my motivation and weight loss goals. I was wondering what techniques or ideas others had about keeping themselves motivated through the long and diligent process of losing weight or for better terms, making a lifelong life style change. I don't want to keep gaining and losing the weight, its not healthy at all.

your not alone! I am in the same boat with going up and down and loosing motivation. Recently I've bought a 'fitbit' and its pretty cool that it keeps track of your walking/calories burned etc. Even at the gym I dont have to input my cardio stats anymore, which is pretty handy. Now my motivation is to get more steps in than I have the day before. Also, I am trying to keep a gym bag in my car at all times so I dont have the excuse 'oh well my clothes are ALL the way at home"

Oh and if you have the mobile app, you can set a reminder to remind you at a certain time to 'log your food' I find this helpful sometimes ( and sometimes annoying). I would definitely try and log at least one meal a day and then add on slowly and youll notice your choices will change the more you keep accountable of your choices. . . I had a chocolate bar today and logging it felt terrible :( lol

Good luck ! Feel free to Add me? :)

I will definitely have to look into getting a Fitbit too. I keep my gym clothes in my car as well, except the weather hasn't been cooperating too well with me...lol but I did manage to map out a 1 mile area close to my office for me to walk/run during lunch. Thank you for the info and I added you as a friend.

I just downloaded the app Runkeeper. I'm not sure if I like it. Is Fitbit a good app?

I try and remember how crapy the junk food is for me. It might taste good, but all the chemicals used to create those products aren't good for me!

I also have pictures and quotes posted for motivation. I hopped on pinterest and chose some of my favorites and it is really great to wake up and see those!

Also like the nike commercial- just do it. I don't give myself too much time to try and reason out of why I don't need to exercise I just do it!

Those are great words. I have even heard of people keeping "try" out of their vocab....if you try something you don't give your all and its easy to find a reason to quit. Today, I told my daughter that I wasn't going to "try" and go walking at the park, but rather we WERE going walking at the park.
