How many calories and carbs are you eating daily?
My doctor doesn't give calorie or carb goals until you are one year out from surgery.

Your doctor probably has a reason not to. Mine said 30-40 grams of protein a day at your stage. I was not given a calorie goal until I stalled at 9 months out and they determined I wasn't eating enough. And they haven't given me a carb goal at all.0

No one has given me a goal for anything other than protein and calories. I set MFP to the goals below starting with protein. It's a percentage calculation so once you get your protein grams where you want them you don't have many choices as far as the other 2 categories. They will balance to 100% whether you like it or not. I focus on getting at least 75 for protein and staying between 1000-1200 calories. The rest, I don't pay much attention to.
Net Calories Consumed* / Day 1,000 cal/day
Carbs / Day 100.0 g
Fat / Day 33.0 g
Protein / Day 75.0 g0 -
pawoodhull, thank you! At one point I was eating around 600 calories a day (that's all my new stomach could take). I was told I wasn't eating enough and to eat more, but no goal was given. I will continue to focus on making sure I get in my protein and water everyday. Congrats on your weight loss!!
bikrchk, thank you! That's a good idea. Congrats on your weight loss!0 -
I would think you program NUT or Doctor's Office should advise you on your intake requirements as I know every program is different. Mine is from the beginning 60 to 70 grams of protein a daily and choose protein always first then added other items like condiments, vegetables, etc. I run about 650 to 700 calories per day and I am about 3.5 months in and have lost 61lbs at this point. I did not lose any weight pre-surgery as my program did not have to do this. I have always wondered about the calories especially when I go to the gym and burn 500 to 600 each time. But they keep telling me that is what is not important that I am just meeting my protein goals daily and doing so with low-fat and low carb choices. Hope that helps. But I can tell you that I have to wait each day until after eating at least 2 of my daily meals before I can go workout otherwise it is a very tough workout and my body just does not want get through it. Best of Luck!0
