My son just told me I had hot breath-lol- he's 8. I got back into low carb Friday morning- it's Sunday night-and I ate an apple & carrots yesterday- I've had a funky taste in my mouth all day- which I don't usually get with keto - lucky- can u get into ketosis that fast ? Barely under 30 carbs last 2 days.

Keto urine or blood strips? Ketone urine strips are pretty much useless, don't worry about those strips, keep doing what you are doing.

Yeh urine strips. I just was curious to see bc of this crazy taste in my mouth. I feel like its too early to be in ketosis after Thursday nights last hoorah ! (Beer & a sub) but lack of focus/ energy today makes me think yeh, maybe.

Is it possible to be in ketosis in only two days? Sure, especially if you've been in ketosis previously AND even more-likely if you've been exercising as well. (I can't see any exercise logged - have you been?)

FYI - I test my blood ketones (a meter is much more accurate than ketostix) and can enter ketosis in well-under 48 hours when exercising.

That being said I've only purposely left ketosis twice in 3 years. Once was to see where my glycemic control was without it. The other time was to see how many carbs per day it takes to knock me out of it, and how fast I can return. Both times I was able to enter ketosis again in 24-48 hours.

To get into ketosis fast you need to combine the very-low-carb diet with exercise. 1) aerobic exercise to deplete your liver glycogen (I chose two hours of intense treadmill work), and; 2) anaerobic exercise to deplete muscle glycogen - ie: all-over-body weight-training. (On my fastest entry to ketosis I did one 90 minute workout that included squats, deadlifts, overhead presses, barbell curls, leg press, bent-over rows, bench press and ab work - and yes, that's in addition to the intense treadmill work.)

Good to know ! Thanks for the replies, I'm just not a big fan of pricking my finger to get the blood ! It's the worst part of a blood donation- that is what you have to do right ? :embarassed:

Yes, I have calloused fingertips/sides from all the testing I do, LOL. But as a diabetic I'm very used to it.
