Another migraine:/

Not sure if it was the seasoning I used that has MSG in it (I have tossed out everything I made with that stuff, just in case), but I am still having these wicked migraines when I wake up in the morning. Cold compress helped, and everyone not talking to me really helped, LOL. But….is this part and parcel of the low carb lifestyle? I don't get them every day, but it is frequent. So glad I don't have to be anywhere today. Just wondering if my low carb friends could shed some light on this one; and thank you for your input:)

Id up my carbs for the day and see if that causes the headache to stop. Upping your carbs by 10 or 15 grams might solve the problem. Then the next day go back to lower carbs and just up your carbs a little after everytime you get a head ache. Just remember that it is possible to stay in ketosis if you average less then 50 grams of carbs a day. Also try taking a multi vitamin if you arent.0

I haven't had a migraine since I started keto. But, the thing is that I average 1-3 a year, and have only been doing keto for six months. It is very possible that I wouldn't have had one anyway. At the very least, I can say that it hasn't instigated a migraine. I did have a constant headache for the first 3-4 days--which is not even in the same arena as a migraine.
I've heard other people mention that eating keto has reduced or eliminated their migraines. I don't think the lack of carbs is causing the issue. Perhaps it's because you're sensitive to something that you're eating more of now. If you go to reddit.com/r/keto and search for migraines, you'll find dozens of threads where people who suffer from migraines discuss how their migraines have changed (in many cases they actually discover a trigger that didn't recognize before).0 -
Thank you, Frob23. I have read that cheese and nuts are an instigator; two things I have been eating more of these days, since going low carb. Either that or, being low sugar. But the natural peanut butter did help take the edge off today.0

I used to have horrible migraines. Since eating low carb, I can't remember the last time I had one. Processed foods trigger migraines for me.0

Hi there, I found out that the main trigger for my frequent migraines was tree nuts when I went low-carb. Every time I tried to do low low carb, I started getting migraines, so I would stop. An elimination challenge confirmed for me it was the nuts. It made sense, too .... When I went low carb, I started eating nuts, the migraines came, I stopped eating low carb, stopped eating nuts, the migraines went away.
My elimination challenge involved me eating nothing but chicken and green beans for a while because I did not trust anything! Ever since then, whenever I hear of anyone trying low carb saying they're getting migraines, my first thought it is to tell you to find out if it's the nuts!
Good luck!
