Hi, I was burning fat at a good rate at the beginning (February 24 to March 19) about 1-2 pounds of fat (not total body weight) per week and then doing the same things I lost some of my progress. So averaging i have been losing only 0.3 lbs of fat per week. What have been your experience? What have been your rate of fat loss per week?

  • How would you even gauge how much fat you are losing? Do you go to some measurement place?

I used pictures to guide by body fat%, I lifted heavy and used this to gauge my muscle gain/loss.

I lost at most 1 pound a week (total body weight).

I use calipers, tanita scale, omron hand held device, navy formula, and some pictures of women bellies at different body fat percentage i found over the internet, so i have a idea of how much my body fat percentage is, paying attention to the trends.

I have just started using fitbit and so far, it projects my weekly fat loss to be 0.3 to 0.5 pounds on average. It's slow but it's because I don't have a lot of room to tweak around and my tdee is very close to my BMR.

That is my rate of losing right now and is good for a women with less than 10 lbs. to lose. I have a Body media and i love it.
  • Yeah that is normal range. Unless you have heaps to lose, it shouldn't fall off that quickly. Slow and steady is good because it actually teaches you to eat and exercise properly.

I thought a lb of pure fat per week was the rate i should have, now i know that for being a women with my size, and i am happy with my rate. Thanks.
  • Caution though. If you are not lifting heavy and eating enough protein you won't be losing pure fat. You'll be losing muscle and fat.
