The real rebel is here!! I have our ladies group meeting at my house and of course I am not ready! OH WELL!! I decide to change pictures and a hundred other things when someone is coming. Of course I could haave done all of that last week LOL
Today is a much better day for me, thank you all very much
I love being a rebel when I don't sink myself into the gutter of eating, eating, eating!
Hope everyone is having a great day!!0 -
I'm HERE!!!
I just haven't had much to say.
I'm struggling with "up-ing" my exercise. But I am doing ok foodwise.
We are getting ready to go on vacation, so I have been trying on clothes.
I can't think about the fact that my "fat" jeans are still too small. (WHEN did that happen?)
Anyway. I don't like to whine so I've been quiet.
In other news, it's BEAUTIFUL out today. I did go for a short walk, fiddled around in the yard for a bit.
Rewarded myself by sitting out on the deck in the sun, soaking up vitamin D.
I thought I was the ONLY person in the world who totally redecorates when somebody is coming over.
HAHAHA!!
:flowerforyou:0 -
How about you two ladies come over to my house about a week before the picnic that may be held at our place & help me redecorate? They had it here last year - about 100 folks or so - and talking about doing it again. Can't have the place look EXACTLY the same, right?
I can supervise :glasses:0 -
I talking a break! All pictures are done that I am going to do - ohhhhhh I just remembered the refrig door. Well, I will see if I have a minute to do that! If I thought beyond my nose I would do this much earlier.
I did get the Easter decorations set around, that is always cheery. I wish I would have picked up a Lily yesterday when in town - but just did not think about it. I love Easter Lilies - they are so beautiful . I will need to get my kids' ordered next week so they can have them for a while.
I am going to make a strawberry trifle if I get up and have the energy - if not I will just serve angel food cake & strawberries.
I cooked a brisket on our smoker for the first time yesterday. I did not leave it on long enough. It was done but could have been a lot more tender. But we have enjoyed it anyway.
Well, I better get back at it. Thanks for letting me relax a minute!!0 -
Is your house on the lake? If so I will definitely come! I can't guarantee much work b/c I love to sit and watch the water, the birds, the fish or what else. Also, love reading by the lake.
I could look it up, but easier to ask - where in Texas are you?
I am not much of a decorator but I have fun trying. I have two DIL that have great decoratng tastes! And my DSIL is a professional interior decorator, so I don't have to think of it much. I just let one of them do it for me!!
But I love to put up monthly/seasonal/holiday decorations. I guess that is the retired elementary teacher in me!!0 -
Our house IS on the lake, but it's in California. So what are we doing? Going to Europe on a vacation.
The decision we've made is to do our traveling while we're "young" and healthy enough to manage it. We can always relax and read on the back patio or down the hill by the water...or on the pontoon boat another time. We're also delaying having a dog, although we both love them, until we are home more.
Our rebellion this past December was not to decorate the house outside with the massive display of Christmas lights that always won the association prize each year. Instead, we flew down to San Diego to visit with Clyde's family there.
We will have loads of house guests who are coming for his daughter's Memorial next week. I've decided not to do any advance preparation. They all know we're leaving a week later for a 6 week trip, and we'll just eat up whatever's in the house, or go out to eat.
For me, that's real rebellion!0 -
Our house is on a pond....
We moved her to NC at the end of 2012...
Every day we get up, look out at the pond and can't believe it.
I'd show you a picture but... I haven't been successful trying to post photos here.0 -
@Rebamae - Although we live just over an hour east from Houston, we really live in the middle of nowhere. It's over half an hour to get to a 'real' grocery store. Our home here is on a lake, but the lake really isn't of much recreational use - it's the water supply and only about 4 feet deep  But the sunsets are incredible, and it's a great neighbor. If i drive ten minutes into town, there's a park where you can access Trinity Bay (which goes into Galveston Bay & the Gulf of Mexico) or Trinity River. Being so close the the gulf, we have our own little micro climate - hot and humid with the added bonus of hurricanes.
We also bought some property for eventual retirement (hopefully my husband will be willing to retire some day) on Lake Livingston about 90 minutes away. Lake Livingston is one of the largest lakes in Texas, with lots of fishing and water sports. Safe to say we're both water babies!
I, too, love to take my Kindle outside and watch/listen to the water and the wildlife (including the crazies on their watercraft)
And, like Cris... I'm constantly amazed at how incredible it is living here.
@Bobbie - now THOSE are worthwhile rebellions! it!0 -
I am HUNGRY.
Dammit!
It's one of those days when a "snack" isn't quite doing the trick. *whine, sulk, stomp*

Welll, not used to chatting here in a group regularly. Usually post in my feed, so feel free to friend me to keep up. I appreciate the invitation. Kinda busy lately as my husband still works. We are planning to go see his twin sons and celebrate their birthday together. We will drive 5 hours and stay a weekend and get back in time for work on Monday. I am the stepmother since they were teenagers. I also will visit a good girlfriend from college days. So that's on the horizon for our plans. Have fun on the lake - wish you the best, sounds lovely.0

Oh, and my oldest and his family lived in Houston. We visited when they looked for a house, when they had their first daughter, babysat several times, holidays with them. Houston area is lovely, went to Galveston and Seaside, great seafood. You must really love your life there!
Oh by the way, I love to eat ALL the time. I tell my husband to stick with me and he will NEVER go hungry. :blushing: :bigsmile:0 -
Hi. I also post in my feed, and use the blog, but I think the feed is better. Not much to say about myself and too many places to say it!
I'm moving from Canada to the UK at the end of June. Now we are into April I'm beginning to feel there is a lot to do. As it gets nearer the time and I get more stressed and busy, I foresee that it is going to be difficult to keep to my fitness regime. But I really want to go back to the UK in good shape, so I will try.
Today was the first time for a couple of weeks that the temperature has been above freezing and I could have gone out for a walk, so I'm feeling guilty that I didn't do so. Instead I spent a lot of the afternoon puzzling over some incomprehensible tax forms. A walk would have been more fun!0 -
Weather's bound to get warmer everywhere, soon...then more opportunities for walking. I'll try to do some myself, tomorrow!
Oldredhen: We'll be in the UK for most of May. Hope there is good weather then, and that the flood conditions in the south are past>0 -
Have you both been to UK before? Hope you have a wonderful time. I would love to travel there some day. I think packing and moving is stressful and a lot of exercise. We moved last May and again in January and will again in May. We are in transitions so it sounds weird, but it makes sense to us Husband still works part time so we keep coming back because of work. What I find works for me is to pack ahead of time, little x little. Then one day the big push to move everything comes and it is done and over with fairly quickly. Take care!0
-
where in the Uk are you going to live??0
-
It is windy today :-(( so I am going to put on a walking DVD! Wish me luck!!
Hope each and everyone of you have a great Saturday!!:happy:0 -
Get 'er done, baby! I went once to the gym, and will go again, promise you! Let us know how you liked that exercise video. Which one etc.0
-
Way to go to the gym!!
Now, go again!!:happy:0 -
Thanks RM! It sounds easy to do, but I have to really push myself and do it. I will get back to you after I go.0
-
OK I just did a Leslie Sansone's walking DVD. I was able to go for 17 minutes, which for me is wonderful right now! I will start doing this at least every other day and then if weather permits I walk also walk outside. I really need to get motivated and with your help I will.
Hey SM thanks for encouraging me b/c I was about to say "oh, i will do it tomorrow" so thank you, thank you!!
In my exercise it will be a part of my total steps for today.0 -
You must have heard me saying I Can Do This! Good for you! Now I go off to the gym! Thanks to you -- :happy:0

Sorry I haven't been here either - been offline due to problems with server......
Lovely to read your posts!
Weather her in UK still very mixed...... warming up but still showery...... I am looking forward to three trips in the near future...London in a couple of weeks, Edinburgh at the end of the month and Venice in May......
While I have been off I have been playing guitar again....... I always wished I could strum a guitar so when I was 58 my son said...Either get one and learn or shut up....lol....so I got one and had lessons....I don't have lessons now but love being able to sit and strum along......I either work through books playing the melody - or strum the chords for a few songs including a couple I have written myself........or play some blues riffs........ it's all good! And part of being a bit of a rebel!

I love your rock n roll!!! When I get around a piano, I am classical player for my own entertainment. My Mom learned piano after 60!! Anyways, thanks to you, I am going to make playing a big part of my life.0
-
I am barely competent and play mainly by myself.......... but the point is...I love it and it was something I wanted to do - and much to some people's amazement I did it ... I feel very smug when people say - Oh you are so good..I could never do that!
Well, yes you can if you really want to ....make it happen!
(and thanks to my son for the "push"!)

I took classical guitar lessons years ago when I was studying in Spain.. then slid over to folk...
My sons kind of swiped my guitar and that was the end of it. But lately, I have been thinking about taking it up again, just for grins..
I wonder if my fingers will still work? I know for sure that my voice has GONE.
:sad:0 -
I have zilch musical skills/talents but I truly love music! Larry can always tell my mood by what time of music I have going. I love having the all the music channels, but I realize it is not the same as making your own music.
I will be impressed with all of you that have those talents!! Enjoy and know that I am in awe of you!!0 -

Judy Collins is 74 and here is a tidbit of her singing and sharing about aging that I enjoyed. Her voice cracked and she didn't miss a beat and picked it back up. SING OUT! Having a voice means more than just talking!! I listened to music today at the gym and it helped me push harder and longer. That's a first for me!!0 -
Music keeps me going when I go running.......certain songs make me up the pace too......
Can't imagine life without music!

Good morning! After a hard workout yesterday I imagined dropping weight. Oh, I don't know, maybe dropping 3 lbs!! Nada, nothing. So not happy dance but I have been here before and know I have to keep going. If I keep doing what I am supposed to do I will lose weight. It used to circle around 5 lbs and then drop, then circle around 5 lbs, and then drop. So when that was happening I didn't worry or quit. Hope you all have a wonderful day! I meet with a trainer at the gym for orientation today. No big. I will do a hard workout again though.0
