I was recently diagnosed with poly cystic ovarian syndrome and my doctor has put me on a Low carb, High Protein diet to help lose the weight. I love the fitness pal app for keeping track of my calorie and nutrition but I'm unsure of how to set it up for my new diet needs. I currently have my calorie breakdown set to Carb 25%, Fat 30%, Protein 45%, I'm not sure if this is the proper percentages for my weight loss needs. My goal is to lose weight and help manage the symptoms associated with PCOS. If someone could help me figure out the healthy way to do that I would really appreciate the help!
Thanks in Advance.

It might be less complicated if you just decide how much net carbs you are going to be eating and about how much calories. Doing the macro as percentages for carbs fat and protein just over complicate things. Just know on low carb you dont really have to worry too much about the percentages because usually you eat more meats which tends to give you higher protein levels and be aware that you can eat as many fats as you want.0

Hi, I was diagnosed over 25 yrs ago now & I would ask my doctor to send me to a nutritionist who specializes in reproductive endocrinology type diseases or even one who is ok with low carb diets in general. Mine was a lot of help to me back in the day.
Personally the best advice I ever got was to completely cut out sugar and limit carbs, and by limit I mean strictly limit them. Its the only thing that allowed me to lose weight. I lost 50lbs 3 years ago cutting out sugar & almost all carbs, in about 8 months. The minute I started eating sugar & bread & stuff again I gained it all back.
I've tried every diet out there, including eating a totally vegan diet for 6 months and gained weight. Super low carb, moderate protein & higher, healthy fat is the only thing that has worked for me.
This condition sucks if you don't learn to manage it. so educate yourself!! Google is your friend! When I was diagnosed it took me months to get an answer & it wasn't until I found something myself on the internet and took it to my doctor and they finally agreed with me!.
Good luck!!!0 -

I'm not sure so much protein is going to help since excess protein is metabolised into glucose thus inhibiting ketosis. Try Fat 60%, Protein 30%, Carb 5% to start with.0 -

Unless your doctor has a good reason for staying low-fat (ie: cholecystitis or something similar), as has been suggested you may want to further reduce carbohydrate and protein and adopt a higher-fat diet.0 -

Sort of what I was trying to say but better
You could say....
Protein is a target. (try not to exceed it but get as close as possible)
Carbohydrate is a limit.
Fat fills the gap.0
