“A cloak is not made for a single shower of rain.” – Italian proverb
“For today: How can I best help another compulsive overeater? By going to the meeting, whether I feel like it or not.”
I’m sure that we can all relate. Sometimes complacency sets in, which I need to be mindful of. Yes, I get lazy and I make excuses because I’m “busy,” but what is more important than my program and being abstinent? Answer, NOTHING! When I walk into a meeting or tune in on the phone or a podcast, I settle in comfortably, because I feel right at home.
Have a great day everyone!

I struggled a bit with this one, in trying to relate to the message. Being fairly new to the program, I wondered what I have to offer another compulsive overeater. Then I remembered hearing in the meetings that there is value in hearing from both the "newcomers" and the "old-timers". Much like many other things right now, I maybe don't need to be able to explain it or understand it. Maybe just hearing that it's true might be enough to get me to participate, and in some way be able to help someone else.0

Blackthrux, you hit the nail on the head. Just sharing your experience, strength, and hope can add to someone else’s recovery, even if you feel that you didn’t say anything profound. Sometimes when I share in a meeting I feel like I’m babbling and dragging on, then realize that I’ve actually helped someone, and for the life of me, I could never really remember what I said.0
