Plantar Fasciitis - Water Running?

Well, it happened last week. Went too hard the other day on a hill run, and woke up the next morning with that unmistakable heel pain. Didn't think much of it at the time, went for a run that afternoon and woke up the next day in massive pain.
I'm trying to do all the helpful things - got my brace thingy for sleeping, do my stretches and strengthening. Ice. Aleve. I've been trying a few other things, and they all seem to have only moderate success.
I'm seriously considering buying one of those water belts that you go running in the water, then doing my running in the pool for the next month.
Does anybody have any experience with these? Helpful? Not helpful? Kept you going during the most difficult parts?
Any tips at all are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have personal experience with water running or plantar fasciitis, but I did a little research and found a lot of people recommend water running to help with training through plantar fasciitis. I don't see how it could hurt anything...

Hi, I'm dealing with PF now and have been for about 3 months. All those things you are doing are good. For me the one thing that has made a difference is the Graston technique. Find an RMT that will do that for you with the metal tools. Hurts like a "you know what", but has made a significant positive difference and kept me running. Wish I would have gone sooner! Worked for a few runner friends of mine too.
In the interim, rolling my foot on a frozen water bottle has worked best for me to reduce pain.0 -
I did a number of sessions with a girlfriend of mine who had multiple stress fractures in both legs. It was a great way for her to keep her cardio up while her injuries healed. I trained with a heart rate monitor, staying within specific zones, for those workouts. It was very easy to increase or decrease the intensity of the workouts. I'd definitely give it a try.0

...specific to the topic...my opinion is that PF is not a reason to do water running...you can get it fixed and continue to run on trail or pavement as you heal.0

I don't have any direct personal experience with this myself, but was recently using one of those with my exercise physiologist and, while we were happily floating (post-run recovery), he told me he worked with a female elite marathoner who did a huge portion of her training in the pool because of injuries. I don't know if I think I could do that, but it certainly seems like something to try out if you're struggling with PF!
Happy running & hope it heals up quickly!0
