I was diagnosed with Hypothyroid when I was 10 years old. I've always had a belly. I workout 5 to 6 times per week, I am on an IIFYM plan (40%Protein/20-25%Carbs/30-35%Fats) Been on this macro plan for 4 weeks now and have dropped 7 lbs. My legs, arms, upper back are all quite muscular but my stomach area, lower back, breasts and inner thighs are where I store most of my fat - just wondering what has worked for you.. I know you can't spot reduce and it's overal diet. I'm just looking for meal plan/exercise/workout suggestions.
HIIT - 2x per week
Heavy Lifting - 4x per week

I think that's a good question. Is there a link between hypothyroid and belly fat?0

Hmmm...never even considered that. I have always had a bit of a problem in the belly area. I have what I think they call "an apron" my belly actually hangs over. I always blamed childbirth but now this is something new to consider. When I do pilates, sit ups, etc. it firms up the area put the belly doesn't go away. I was only Dx with Hashi's about 2 yrs ago but I am sure I've had a lot longer0

I think fat storage around the belly area does have something to do with being Hypothyroid. I just haven't done enough research and is looking for someone who has conquered losing belly fat. I would love to know their secret!0

As you said, you can't spot reduce. Where & when you lose depends entirely on genetics. (I gained & lost 25 lbs., and my bra size never changed.)0

There is a link between Hypothyroid and PCOS. The latter causes fat deposits around the mid section. Although you can't spot reduce, you can tighten your core. I think planks are awesome for this area.0

i have trouble with belly fat, even though i go to gym twice a week, walk everywhere, it just won't shift, i've had underactive thyroid for nearly 2yrs now and struggle with energy levels still, even though my thyroid function is in the normal range now due to replacement of hormone, i still have difficulty in losing weight, ideally i'd like to lose 28pounds, which would still be at the heavier end of weight i should be, but i won't give up and am trying to stay focused.0

Hi,
I came across some interesting information on Youtube - "What Body Type and Belly Shape are You?" by Dr. Eric Berg. Maybe that will explain some of the questions. Here's a link: http://youtu.be/W6yutHLYz6I
I too struggle with tummy fat...0
