What's a less-commonly-run race you'd like to see more of?

For me, I'd like to see some 2-mile races. Also, 30k is an intriguing distance: It's about where most people tend to hit the wall in a marathon, so it'd be neat to just be able to *stop* at that point!

There are a couple 10-milers in my area, but one of them is super hilly so it's very tough to get a good time on it. Fun distance, no doubt!0 -
1 & 5 Miles0

10 miles and 30K for sure!
I loved racing the 30K distance 2 weeks ago! I just wish I could find one without 6 miles of hills at the end to see what kind of time I could really get
I have never raced a 10 miles race... And I'm having a hard time finding one in my area.0 -
Ten miles is my very, very favorite distance to run We have a couple here; they seem to be getting more popular.0

15K...we have one or two within driving distance, but I'd like to see more of them. I like the thought of a longer distance without having to run a half. I have done a 10 miler...i guess that's almost the same thing...15K just sounds more impressive, even if it is shorter.
Also I wish we had more 10ks around here...it should not be less-common but for some reason everyone around here thinks races need to be 10.2K or 10.5K...what happened to just 10K?
We have a lot of one mile runs, but they are labeled fun runs and seem to be more for the kiddos or for families. I would like to race a one mile one day but most of the adults just seem to casually run them and I would feel awkward "racing" all of the kids, especially since most of them would likely beat me0 -
I would like to do a one mile. All the ones around here are kids fun runs and not timed. I suppose in the city they have them for track clubs and such but that's a little out of my league.0

I'm a huge fan of 10-milers for trail runs. We have a few around here. It seems like I'm barely warmed up by the time I do a 5-miler and I'm near death by the time I do a half marathon.
For road runs, I wish there were more 15Ks.0 -
I'd like to see more bacon runs, kind of like color runs, but where you get peppered with bacon instead of paint.0
-
The 30K for sure! Or just a "20 Mile" race.
I've been thinking that a lot lately actually - there's not much in-between half and full marathons, which is a bummer! It would be nice to have more runs with that kind of distance that you could use to keep your marathon base up, without having to runs marathons all the time (if that makes sense??).0 -

A google search for "bacon run" turns up a surprisingly large number of results. This one seems the most promising:

Includes both 5k and 0.05k options!0 -

My favorite distance is the 15k but there are only a handful of them. I would also love to try a 10 miler.0

There's a race in Hurricane, UT called the "Bakers Dozen Half Marathon". They have a prize for whoever eats the most during it. I haven't done it, but a blogger I follow has.0 -

Seriously, if this wasn't so far away from me, I would totally do it! To get your finishers medal you have to eat something at each aid station! They have donuts, cupcakes, cookies and twinkies! How awesome is that! (Not sure how fast I would be running though, lol).0 -
This is one we have in the UK, a wine marathon, water or wine stops at every two miles:

The egg and spoon race.
In all seriousness, 10 mile race is pretty good. I do a couple annually. Its almost like running a half-marathon at 10k pace.0 -

Definitely more 10 milers, The people that run the above marathon also do a good 10 miler (amongst others) from Denbies too. Just not enough 10milers about0 -
A 30k would be cool. A 20 miles would be good also.0
-
Yeah 30K would be nice.
The Atlanta Marathon has a 10-mile race option. I did that last year and it was brutal but I loved it!0 -
Locally I'd like to see more 10 milers. I'm sure if I could travel for them I'd find more.0

I love 10 milers (or 15K, w/e). Psychologically, it's a great distance I think Runners World or Running Times did a spread on the increasing popularity of the race. That was by far my best performing race of the season for sure.0

I'd like to see more 5 mile races. 10 milers would be nice too.0 -
I'd like to see a race so less commonly run that I take the podium at the end.0

Ding!
We have so many 10 milers around here! About to do one of the fastest - Broad Street in Philly. I do love them because it's a fairly challenging distance but doesn't wear me out like a half.
Personally I wish there were more sprints and 1-2 milers for my kiddo who is just starting to run.0 -

Or one held in a crappy time of year (hurricane season, winter, etc) so the fast people stay home and the slower folks take it all!0 -
More 1 milers. We have a big one the past couple years, but it's not been at a good weekend for me to run it.
I also agree that a 15K is a nice distance.0 -
I liked the 30k distance. I did one two weeks ago. I did hit the wall and I got to stop haha.
More 10 mile races.0 -
Mile and 2 mile. I only get to run the mile/1500 4 times during the summer and the 2 mile is only available once. They are all offered through the local running club and only in the summer. I'd like to see some track meets in the spring and fall as well. I love racing the mile and you have to do it often to get good at it.0

I'd like to see more 1-mile races locally. It's a long-time goal of mine to break 6 minutes. I was always the slowest guy in class when we did the mile for PE, and the faster guys were breaking 6 minutes.
Here in town, we only have 1 and it's downhill so not a "real" PR opportunity. It's also on Friday night, so I'm at work. I did one at a nearby town last year, but it's part of a 5-race track meet and I have no interest in the shorter races. This year, I'm thinking about trying one a little farther away, but it's on a street, not on a track.0
