JM'S 30 Day Slim Down

Hey guys!
Today I did day 1 of JM's 30 day Slim Down! I haven't really been able to find any success stories/pics from it, so I'm sort of guinea-pigging myself for the masses! (stay tuned for the review & B/A pics in a month!)
I've previously done 30DS lvls 1 & part of 2, but I found myself getting a bit bored of the repitition--even though I felt so much stronger every day! I also have two bad knees (at 26 years old), and they were bugging me with 30ds even with good form. SO hopefully the variety of 30DSD will help with those!
I've never done NMTZ or BFBM, but I've looked through them and they seem legit. Lol. I'm happy there's more core work involved with this rotation. Any reviews for these two vids?
Also, has anyone tried/done 30DSD with reviews/pics?
Here it is for anyone who's interested, or wants to join me!

I did a modified version of this in March. Modified because I loved NMTZ, so I never did the "quick" version without the floorwork. And on days that had both 30DS and NMTZ, I would just do NMTZ. I really liked the variety of moving around between DVDs throughout the month.
As for the individual DVDs, I prefer weights and limited cardio, so I loved NMTZ. There is much more variety than in 30DS, and I really liked the floorwork circuits, which is why I always did them. I didn't love BFBM, but it got a great burn from it, so I can't really complain. BFBM reminded me a lot of kickboxing or Tae-Bo, which I'm not a huge fan of. But the combination of BFBM and NMTZ is a great workout and I'm thinking of going back to that rotation again because I'm not loving RI30.
In the end I lost about 4 pounds and 9.5 inches. My weigh-in and measuring days didn't exactly coincide with the start and finish, but those were the closest measurements to start and finish. I saw the biggest difference in my legs, which was reward enough for me.0 -
I should try that when I'm done with body revolution. I just need to get NMTZ Dvd. BFBM kicks my butt every time.0

Awww, darnit! Now I'm torn! I was planning on alternating NMTZ, BFBM and Yoga Meltdown with one rest day for a month, but I'm tempted to get in on this once I finish the 30DS on Friday (more like the 60 Day Shred, but the important part to me was that even if I stopped for a few days, I got back on). Decisions, decisions...0

I did this in Feb/March! I lost 6lbs and 8 inches. The last 3 days were the hardest for me. I tweaked my ankle that last week and it took me a bit to finish those last 3 days. I loved having a rotation. It kept things much more interesting than just doing 30DS by itself. I always got bored just sticking to one DVD.
I was thinking of redoing it, maybe adding 5lbs weights for some of the exercises (bicep curls, kickbacks, chest flys) and keep using 3lbs for the others. I just did 3lbs weights last time. Also, I might take a little longer to do it, only having one rest day made me sore that whole month.0 -

Awesome review, thank you!! I've seen a lot of ppl that really like NMTZ so I'm excited to try that. Also the kickboxing/Tae-Bo sounds great to me! haha.
Awesome loss too. :drinker:
I'm already around as light as I want to go, so I'm really hoping to see more of the physical aspects, rather than the scale. But if I'm getting fitter, then I guess I'll take what I get!
Can't wait to see how this goes!0 -

You can find them all for free on youtube. That's what I'm using.0 -

Finishing is key! I think that's way more satisfying than going 20 days on sched and then giving up.
JOIN MEEE!! I'd love to have someone to suffer with :laugh:0 -

Awesome loss for you too! :flowerforyou: (Great news for me!) haha. Hopefully you're all healed up now though?
So far I'm doing it with ~5lb weights (2.2kg = 4.4lbs). My shoulders are super weak so the first two days of 30ds with those dang side lunges & arm raises are a bit rough going. lol. But hopefully I can keep up with those for the other workouts, because my only other weights are 5kgs! (11lbs) and that's just not happening atm.
I'm thinking I'll need more time as well. My job is pretty draining on it's own, let alone being sore from 6 days/wk of intense (for me) workouts. Not to mention I have a holiday planned in a month, and see myself taking it easy and throwing in new workouts for that week.
Glad you guys are thinking of doing it again.. that's promising!0 -
If you're aiming for toning and definition not weight loss, I would recommend using the heaviest weights you can finish it with. I will sometimes use 7 pound weights until I can't do anymore reps and then switch to 3 pound weights. I did that a lot with NMTZ and think I saw better results because of it.
I am debating going back to this rotation and using the 7-pound weights for everything.0 -
Yeah I'm actually doing this to strengthen the little bitty muscles I have because I'm not able to finish my current at-home workout with my heavier weights (5kgs/11lbs). (bf bought the wrong ones!!) I think I'll have to fandangle some 7/8lb-ish weights somehow since I don't want to invest in another set of weights that I'll grow out of too quickly. lol.
Thanks for the advice though, hopefully i can bump these weights up in the next week/two.
You should do it and let us know how you go!0 -
jmht345: I think I might invest in some more weights! I just did NMTZ for the first time and the DL/bicep work is just silly with my little weights. Nothing going on there! I might just have to do what you suggested! :flowerforyou:
On that note, NMZT for the first time ever was a WORKOUT!! Omg. The floorwork was killer for my sad little core! :blushing: haha. So excited about that though! :bigsmile:0 -
Looked to see what Quick Trouble Zones was as I was thinking of doing her 30 Day Slim Down?
I found its the first four circuits of NMTZ but just one time through each circuit. It clocks in at about 24 minutes with the warmup and cool down.0 -
How are you getting on with the slimdown snowboard? Hope all is going well and you are already seeing results  Di0
