So there's this photo contest:

http://reviews.mtbr.com/scott-photo-contest-does-size-matter

Contest Details: Upload a photo that you feel represents why the wheel size that you ride is best. Photos can be shots of riders, shots of your bike, shots of you and your bike, scenery...whatever! However, the winner will be chosen (by Scott Sports) on the basis of the best quality photo that shows the spirit of mountain biking and why wheel size matters. Upload the photo to Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with the hashtags #SCOTTsizematters and #SeaOtterEdition. To ensure that we see your entry, enter your name, email and social network username. That's it! The Grand Prize Winner receives a Scott Genius 710 or 910 (their choice) with a value of $5799!
(note: please be sure your photo is public so the judges can view it)

My husband and I both have Scott's. He has the Genius w/ a 27" wheel. I have the Spark with a 29" wheel. Mine is bigger. There has to be some kind of joke there that we can play up in a picture of some kind... but I'd also like to see if we can emphasize the actual reason why someone picks a 29 over a 27 or the opposite. I guess the 27" corners better, my Spark climbs better and is lighter than his Genius... I don't know. Hrm. HELP.

TBH this is just more bike company marketing bull**** to try to justify to customers why they should buy new stuff when their old stuff is actually totally fine.

There is no absolute best. There is just what you like for what you do. I like my 29er for some stuff, I like my 26er for other stuff. One is not better than the other.

I actually find that average corning is better on the 29er probably because there is a larger contact patch plus I'm over the front wheel more due to the geometry. Get down to really tight switch backs and the 26er corners better cause I find it easy to get a tighter turning circle. Some times I don't even know why I decide which bike I pick for which ride I just feel which is right. Man I hate the whole wheel size debate,

    End rant.

Oh it is. I'm not saying it isn't. And I definitely think it's dumb for manufacturers to stop making 26" wheels. Smaller women especially NEED a smaller wheel.

But I still think there's a potential to take a funny picture...

    Smeakim1 - I like that idea. :-)

BusyRae - Marketing ploys are definitely no reason not to have fun with the photo. Do they both need to be in the same picture or can you submit two different photos? Submit one with him bogged down in sand and you cruising through and another with you stuck on a stump or rock and him bounding over or something like that? I still like Smeakim1's idea.

It's not always the size of the vessel.... It's the motion of the ocean, ya know?? You may have some big wheels, but do you know how to turn them ?

Heather that's funny. :-) Maybe you can give BusyRae some ideas for next year when they do the same contest.
