Happy Easter and water question

Happy Easter to all who celebrate it. Have a wonderful day and stay away from the chocolate. We had our big day on Friday because my son had to work all weekend. In my old age I am getting smarter LOL!!!, and just did not buy much chocolate this year. Also, I sent the birthday cake home with the kids. If I have it here it would have been "Oh I'll just have a smidgeon" and you know that smidgeon turns into the rest of the cake.
How do you get your water in? I have a terrible time getting more than a cup or two a day and I know I have to drink more. Do you have any special strategies for it?

I have to really make an effort to get the water in too......I have hot water instead of coffee a few times a day..I find hot water easier to enjoy than cold......also drink herbal/fruit teas which I count as water....as they are really just flavoured water......I rarely have what we are told to have but maybe four or five cups is manageable....
Enjoy your Easter Day:flowerforyou:

I also count flavored waters and plain tea, but I carry a water bottle with me in the car, while out walking (I use a bottle holder with a shoulder strap), and always have a glass of ice water with a straw in the house. Be sure to have a bathroom nearby! It's just a matter of developing new habits....not unlike sending the leftover cake home with guests!0

We really don't 'do' Easter meal around here, and i made a point of avoiding all the candy displays at the stores. Happy to say that I made it through the weekend with just snitching ONE miniature Reeses peanut butter cup from my hubby's stash.
Ah yes, water. I found it really difficult the first week or two to drink the 8 cups of water they want us to do. Including whining alot about it  I'm finding it pretty easy now, and actually drink quite a bit more than i log (i usually just forget or drink more after I complete the diary for the day).
I don't particularly care for ice cold water AND i'm cheap, so I refill my 16 ounce water bottle from the filtered fridge water before I go to bed. I take some pills in the morning and evening, and make it a point to drink about 8 ounces with each, so that's two cups tallied. I drink another 2 cups during and after my walk(s), so that makes me half way. And I'm always thirsty, I swear (don't hate on me, but it may be because I smoke :smokin: ), always have my water bottle within arm's reach. I have only been functioning for about 4.5 hours today, and I'm already well into my 8th cup of water.
On the downside - for the first time in years, I had to ask to stop at a bathroom on the way back from the lake (just 1.5 hour drive). Could be because we had a heavy load on the gooseneck trailer and were bouncing and jerking our way back though
On the upside - #1) you WILL get your Kegles exercises in order if you haven't already been doing so :blushing:
#2 - it's 70 round trip steps to my furthest bathroom, and that's the one I try to use. I get 'credit' on my Fitbit for LOTS of steps thanks to the water intake!0 -

And a Happy Easter to you!,
The idea of "8 glasses of water per day" came from studies of necessary dietary intake to maintain health. One of the many studies by the armed forces that truly have been useful. One of the findings was that a person took in an average of 8 cups of water per day FROM ALL SOURCES. That includes lettuce, potatoes, meat, orange juice, vodka, coffee, and so on. All sources. All.
Over the years, that morphed into a popular anecdotal statement that a healthy person should drink 8 glasses of water per day, over and above everything else they ate or drank that day. It became accepted fact after being repeated so many times. Paraphrasing a famous propagandist: "if you keep repeating it, it will become true".
If you are healthy, eating and drinking well, do not feel dehydrated, and do not want to drink extra water, then don't.
Now ,it helps to drink extra water if you are ill, or exercising moderately to heavily, or out in hot weather. Extra fluid also help you feel full if you are reducing your food intake and feel hungry.0 -
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I did try hot water today and managed about three cups which is much better than usual. I think I'll just add a bit at a time. Again thanks for the help.0

From what I have read I believe Ukary is right. If you are thirsty, have something to drink. It could be water, but it can be any liquid. There was a study a few years ago with twins. One was encouraged to have the 8 glasses of water a day, the other just had whatever she wanted but it was significantly less than 8 glasses. At the end of the test they were measured/weighed and it was found that they had the same levels of fluid in their system. The one who drank less simply got her fluid from whatever she was eating. One rule of thumb is that if your urine is fairly clear and absent of color you are well hydrated; if it is darker yellow you need some extra fluids.0
