I found myself eating a few gluten free grains over the last week, so I've decided to venture back to phase 1 (from phase 3) for a week to get over the pizza cravings and remind me how I know I feel best.

Cheers to anyone starting phase 1 or living on phase 2!

I find that backing off the grains every few months is a good thing for me. And, having done phase 1 once now, it's such a good reminder!

    Hi, there !

Sort of new here ....... been doing SB for 6 or 7 years, and used to be on their website. But bailed when they changed everything around. Am still in touch with a small group of ex-beachers on a daily basis. And those sweethearts convinced me to join a gym AND to join MFP.

Successfully lost 45# along the way ........ went from 195# down to 150# ...... I used to be SPECTACULAR at avoiding sugar & all its little buddies. But since the beginning of the year, I gained a few pounds ....... am mostly back on track, but it's a bit of a struggle ...... fell under the spell of bread & butter, pizza & pasta ...... grrrrrr !

So I could certainly do with a week of Phase 1 ...... (it wouldn't be the first time ) ...... and I could actually start tomorrow, there are plenty of veggies in the house.

Wishing everyone a great weekend !

Hi! Convince them to join here. I lost my weight just before the SB book came out, but the basics were already being learned...I must have learned a few along the way, because by the time the first book came out, I'd lost all the weight I wanted to lose. And my eating pretty much looked like that. From there I joined the SB group on fitday.com and stayed there for continued support for a long time. When I hit 47ish...perimenopause gave me a wake up call and I joined here. I don't "count", or weigh, but try to follow the principles of SB after all these years because it seems so much easier and more logical to me. I've been at +-5LBs maintenance for about 12 years. Cheers!

Sabine ...... congrats on staying within 5# all this time .......

All the stress goes away when eating "right" becomes second nature ......

I'm ok 90% of the time ...... it's that pesky 10% I need to work on ...... one meal at a time :drinker:

aaaaaack ....... late for work, so no breakfast ...... then left lunchbag in the car & was too busy to retrieve it ...... spent all day with no food (just lots of coffee) ....... it's an absolute miracle I didn't get into the cupcakes & crap in the staff kitchen !

got home & ate the first things my hubby put on the table ...... turkey burger (roll and all) lettuce, tomato ..... and fries ......

oh well, to quote Katie Scarlett O'Hara Hamilton Kennedy Butler ...... "tomorrow is another day" ..... will do better :drinker:

enjoy the rest of the weekend !

Doing well. Went out for supplies today.
Yesterday went pretty well. Going to make some breakfasts for the week. Packed some nuts. Chopping some vegetables... Hubs is making a frittata for dinner.... so far so good!

Completed first day of Phase 1 ...... I think it went well !

Foodshopped today after leaving the gym ..... slow going, reading labels took awhile ..... obviously been slacking off in that department. Even so, ended up buying a few items with sugar in them ...... yogurt, salad dressing, etc. Drank lots of water, doubled up on my veggies ....... no breads, pasta, rice, candy ..... even took the potatoes out of the beef stew

it's amazing the stuff they sneak sugar into these days. The "low fat" revolution really made it a necessity to read labels. Anywhere there used to be fat, there's now sugar. It's crazy.

This is something else I like about SB. If the scale creeps up a few LBS, a week on phase 1 one helps me be more mindful AND helps the scale creep back down.

ps: When folks say you "can't eat this way" for a long time I just laugh. I've been eating pretty well SB phase 3 for 12+ years now. (I started before the book came out...I was losing weight and read about SB (pre-book) and saw that what I was doing was pretty well mirrored it, so I kept doing it!)

    Cheers.

Wow, it's a bit harder doing Phase 1 than I remember

Today I'm roasting a bit batch of veggies (eggplant, zucchini, onions, tomatoes)

Hubby wants pasta & sausage for dinner .......

I'll have a bowl of roasted veggies with a little parmesan sprinkled over it ......

A spaghetti squash pasta would be a compromise!

And I was thinking I've never seen a box of pasta marked "spaghetti squash" ...... yes, that's yummy !

More often I've peeled zucchini into long, skinny strips ..... thrown into hot, salted water for a minute, then drain .......

Or just handfuls of washed, raw baby spinach ...... add sauce & parmesan

Today's plan: Baked avocado/egg for breakfast after my morning run. Lunch: a big pile of vegetables and some hummus.
Dinner: grilled steak and roasted vegetables.
