Something for the library...

Hi!
I'm a PhD student so I'm at the library on average for seven hours. It's always such as pain to have to leave for meal and return only to discover my favourite has been taken.

Does anyone have ideas for portable meals that I could bring that does not entail giant tupperware and heating?

I am starting to get tired of my turkey muffins and flax bread : /

Thanks in advance.

Here are some snack small meal ideas:

Fruits-banana, apple, oranges, berries, grapes etc
    PB&J sandwhich
    Granola
    peanut butter & apple
    peanut butter and crackers
    trail mix-dried fruit and nuts
    soup-kept warm in a thermos
  • You could try making some potato salad the evening before? It'd be quite filling and not too messy in the library!

that depends greatly on what sort of calories and macro split you're looking for.

Generally speaking though, things like sandwiches/wraps are an ever popular option. Fritata can be eaten cold and is very versatile.Nothing wrong with salads either. I have a protein (usually chicken beef or lamb) with the usual salad veg and a little pot of dressing. All fits in one container, pour the salad dressing on when I'm ready to eat and voila.

If you get a decent insulated bag for your lunch and/or put an ice brick in there, you can keep any food fresh until lunchtime.

Anything wrapped in a low carb tortilla: chicken breast, tuna, veggies, ham, spread with laughing cow wedge. Rolled up in a wax paper square. Cut up veggies (radishes, carrots, celery). Only requires a small ice pack and lunch sack.

You can pack a salad in a ziploc with the dressing in a small container. Throw in a packet of tuna or salmon and a plastic fork.

An individual greek yogurt of your choice.

    Happy eating.
