Hi all!
Donna, hope u enjoyd the much deserved rest day yesterday.
Today I slept in to try to make up all the lost sleep that my daughter and that wiley lil nocturnal kitten has cost me, and then I volunteered to bring lil girl with me for school/tutor so DH can get a nap too (we've been sleepless zombies lately). Tutor will finish early and i amhoping to get the kids home in time to run or get to the gym but it'll be close and i hope i still have energy left. will check back in latr.
make it a good one!

Sherry how's the kitty doing? Hope you can sneak in at least a quick workout today!
I got in a 2.25 mile run in the rain this morning. I started out with moderate rain, then it stopped raining, then the thunder & lightning started just over a mile from home so I turned around, and then it started raining really hard so I started running faster. The first mile took me 11:58 (which is actually pretty fast for me) and the second mile took me 11:01. Definitely moving faster when I was motivated to get home! Final quarter mile was at a pace of 11:02, so average pace was 11:27. Would love to be able to run a 5K at that pace. Something to work toward!
Will have a legs workout tonight after work with my trainer.
Hope everybody has a great Thursday.0 -
Did some threadstarters, so re-bumping this to the top.0

I'm looking forward to a run today after not doing one yesterday. Also need to do my trainer's homework today and take Fells to flyball class. I've normally been doing my long runs on Friday and occasionally on Sunday. I thought about this last night and decided that it will be Sunday this week because of the 5k race I signed up for on Saturday morning.
It's strange because I don't particularly like racing, so I've only done one before, and that was last July, and that one didn't go well as I got lost during it, so I don't even have a real time for it. Despite all of that I'm getting pretty excited about doing this one. I so hope I don't get lost. I really want a real time that I know and that I have so that I can improve on it.0 -
Donna what's your trainer homework?
You might enjoy this race - you've come a long way since last July!0 -
Well, when I got home with the kids, DH had NOT napped b/c he had been doing some work and was about to go out for a client meeting. I could have really used a run for a little stress relief, but am here with the kids instead. He's getting ready to travel again and I recall that last time, there was alot of this sort of work-related interference beforehand, which is just how it goes. At least I'm still keeping my calories pretty good for a change.
Laura, nice job on the run--a little motivation from Mother Nature! Well, the kitten is doing great--the rest of us notsomuch. haha. Actually, we already have a 17yo cat who does NOT like change and is very emotional wrt food. Since the kitten arrived, he had not been eating well and 2 nights ago he was making gagging noises all night, so next day he went to the vet and was severely dehydrated. He's too busy running & hiding from the kitten to eat or drink. On top of that, the kitten is awake all night bothering him (then he growls and then I have to get up and go play with the kitten and hold her til she falls asleep so she won't go bother him again). My daughter sometimes doesn't eat all her dinner and wakes up hungry in the middle of the night and I have to get her something to eat and make sure she doesn't fall asleep with food in her mouth. End result is DH & I are zombies. Maybe it's just as well that I'm not working out much right now, doubt my body'd be able to recover on such little sleep.
I like to hear about races from y'all, because I'm still not sure about the idea of a race. I just don't think I'd like it at all. I actually imagine hating it, even though I like running. I think I like the freedom of choosing where I'll go, new scenery, the solitariness, and the obstacles of traffic, jumping off & on sidewalks, around parked cars, under trees, etc--all the things races don't have.0 -
good day!
It is a gorgeous day here, one of our nicest Spring days yet I think. I got out for a 6K run, road run today instead of trail. Legs felt kind of sore from yesterdays strength workout, but I guess that would be a good sign, huh. lol There is nothing like running on a day like this, felt so good (well....after anyway!)
Sherry - glad that you got to sleep in today, and hope you were able to get that run in. It is so much harder to get time to do this kind of stuff when the kids are little.
Laura - well sounds like that thunder and lightening made for some good speed-work! lol
Donna - hope you had a good run today and can get your homework in. I have done some racing in the past, but not as much the past few summers. It can be easy to get lost if the routes are not well marked out, good luck! I always feel so good after a race, (and usually wonder WHY I am doing this while I'm running lol) I hope to do a few this summer.
Diana - hope you're feeling better today!
Time to get supper going, dh will soon be home and I am getting hungry. Think I'll get the BBQ going, just hope I don't run out of propane.0 -
My trainer assigned homework for this month is:
1A Prone Hand To Shoulder (10 each arm)
1B Side plank (15 secs each side)
rest; repeat 3 time
2A Squat (10)
2B Pushup or Modified Pushup (10)
2C Reverse Lunge (10 each leg)
rest; repeat 3 times
The exercise I skipped on Tuesday is the hip lift on an exercise ball, so I want to fit that in somewhere. The one on Tuesday that gives me the most trouble is a wall sit while I do wall slides with the shoulders (really really difficult to keep the shoulders and arms against the wall for this). I have so much trouble with the shoulders and arms that I don't even notice what my legs are doing with the wall sit. The one I have the second most difficulty with is standing in lunge position and without moving my feet, come up to standing and down to lunge. I keep falling sideways. So I'm going to make these three exercises into my third set.
So my plan is to do the assigned homework and the extra stuff at least four days a week, attend the trainer workout 1 day a week, and run 5 or 6 days a week w/Wednesday as my rest day and Sunday as my long run throughout May.0 -
Donna, those wall slides are impossible! The move itself probably isn't that hard but my upper body doesn't want to slide. My shirt is catching on the wall and my watch is scratching against the wall. I'm not a fan of them. They need to lubricate the wall first or something. LOL.
Maureen, that sounds like a wonderful run!
Sherry, you definitely have your hands full. My two cats are sound asleep right now - resting up so they can play all night while I'm trying to sleep. I got one and he seemed so lonely every day when I left for work that a few months later I went to the shelter and got a second cat. They're the same age and I have one male and one female, so they quickly became buddies.0
